Chapter 404 Alex Made a Big Mistake
The Cunningham family.
Jasmine sat on the sofa, feeling somewhat nervous as she waited for Ethan to pick her up.
"Mom." Justin and Joe ran over and jumped into Jasmine's arms.
Jasmine looked at the two, her eyes full of joy.
Actually, the moment she saw the children, her heart was healed.
"Mom, this is a clay doll Joe and I made for you." Justin handed the doll to Jasmine who happily accepted the doll.
"You two are the best."
Justin and Joe happily snuggled into Jasmine's arms.
Over there, Edgar was sneaking into the living room, trying to run to his room, afraid Jasmine would see him.
"Dad!" Joe saw Edgar and shouted loudly,
Edgar's back went cold; these two kids exposed him!
He awkwardly glanced at Jasmine and laughed. "Jasmine, what a coincidence."
"Not a coincidence at all; this is her home." Behind Edgar, Edward, wearing an apron around his neck, gently tapped Edgar's head with a ladle. "Come to the kitchen and help me."
Edgar looked at Edward with resentment. "Edward, let the housekeeper cook. Why do you have to cook yourself?"
"My sister should eat the food I make," Edward said proudly.
"Your cooking isn't good, the housekeeper's is better! Edward, if you hit me again, I'll tell Mom."
From the kitchen came sounds of screams and laughter.
Jasmine sat on the sofa, blushing and smiling with her head down.
This kind of family atmosphere was something she had never imagined.
"Jasmine! Come taste the cheesecake I made." Evelina also came out of the kitchen, bringing the dessert.
"Jasmine, try the Pumpkin Pie I made, it's her specialty." Cordelia also came out of the kitchen with a tray.
The family, who rarely cooked, were all busy for Jasmine.
Sometimes, family love was simple, with deep feelings expressed through food.
"Okay, I'll try them all." Jasmine nervously got up and walked to the dining table, wanting to try everything.
She was still a bit uneasy, as she hadn't fully integrated into this atmosphere and family yet.
Cordelia and Evelina also gave Jasmine absolute space. "You keep an eye on my daughter, and we'll go to the backyard to get something."
Jasmine sat in the chair, took a piece of cheesecake, and tasted it.
The cake was delicious.
In the backyard.
Evelina pulled Cordelia for a photo.
"Make sure I look good in it." Cordelia glared at Evelina.
"You're so childish." Evelina posted on Facebook.
Evelina: [The sky in Silverlight City is so blue, best friends should always be together.]
No sooner had Evelina posted on Facebook than Alex called. She promptly hung up. When he called again, she repeated the action.
Cordelia watched Evelina's actions. "What are you doing..."
"I wouldn't dare disturb him; let him stay at the hospital with Karen." Evelina sneered.
Cordelia sighed, "I bet he will be here within half an hour."
"Let's make a bet; Karen will do everything she can to keep him." Evelina sat on the bench, looking at the sky.
"If he can make it here within thirty minutes, you give him another chance." Cordelia knew Evelina had deep feelings for Alex.
Evelina laughed sarcastically; she didn't believe he could come right away. "Even if he comes, there will still be a rift between them."
Karen and Benjamin had come to this point; there was no way to end it well. She and Alex had a child, so they would always be connected.
Since there was a connection, Karen wouldn't easily let Alex go.
Capital Hospital.
Karen lay on the hospital bed, watching Alex anxiously making phone calls.
She knew Evelina must be angry.
"Alex, is Evelina angry?" Karen asked,
Alex shook his head. "She is always generous; she wouldn't argue with me over these things."
"I can tell you love her very much," Karen said, somewhat unwillingly.
"She's been with me for so many years; our feelings are very deep." Alex nodded.
"What about me?" Karen asked hoarsely.
Alex was stunned for a moment, looking at Karen. "It's been over between us for a long time."
"I knew that even if I gave everything to have your child, you would still forget me as if all these years only I was trying, only I was suffering." Karen's voice was hoarse.
It was clear she was trying to make Alex feel guilty.
Alex was silent, looking at the time. "You should rest; I'll come see you tomorrow."
"Alex." Karen sat up, her voice hoarse. "Please, stay with me one last time, just tonight... as compensation for giving birth to your son and suffering all these years, can you?"
Alex's steps faltered, and he turned to look at Karen who was crying, her face full of tears
She was a pitiful person, but unfortunately, all of this was her own choice.
Alex was silent, not saying a word.
The Cunningham family.
By the time Ethan arrived, Jasmine was already full.
Seeing Ethan enter the living room, she gave him a pleading look.
"Jasmine, try this, I made it!" Edgar walked over to Jasmine, saying shyly.
He brought a roasted vegetable salad, with the vegetables cut haphazardly.
"This is really authentic; just chop some vegetables and roast them," Edward didn't give up on criticizing Edgar.
Edgar sneered; he was very angry.
Jasmine stifled a laugh and tugged on Ethan's finger. "Ethan, you should try what Edward made..."
Jasmine rubbed her stomach; she really couldn't eat anymore.
Ethan smiled and covered for Jasmine. "If she eats any more, she'll get indigestion. Her stomach isn't great to begin with."
Only then did Edward and Edgar let Jasmine off the hook.
"What happened to your hand?" Ethan asked, noticing that three of Edgar's fingers were bandaged.
"He always ended up cutting his fingers just from chopping vegetables. Had it not been for Jasmine, he wouldn't have even set foot in the kitchen," Edward said, trying not to laugh.
Ethan was also helpless. "Alright, you better stay out of the kitchen from now on. I don't want you scaring Jasmine."
Edgar's face turned pale with anger, and he let out a derisive laugh. "I'm telling you, Ethan, this is my sister. If you dare bully her..."
As he spoke, Edgar got so worked up that he started to cry. He turned away, afraid of being laughed at, and walked off.
Ethan looked at Jasmine innocently. "I didn't bully him."
Jasmine glanced at Edgar. "He looks really upset."
"Exactly," Edward added, wanting to say, "He likes Jasmine, only to find out she's his sister."
Ethan couldn't hold back and burst out laughing.
Jasmine also couldn't help but lower her head and chuckle.
"I'm stuffed. You guys go ahead and eat," Jasmine said, remembering something. She took her phone and went to the yard to call Lily Taylor.
Sophia's plan had failed, so the next step was likely about to begin.
Lily needed to find a way to gain Sophia's further trust, to get close to her, and to find evidence of the child swap from back then.
As long as they found the evidence of the swap, and once May woke up with all the evidence in hand, it would be time for Sophia to face punishment.
