Chapter 69 Jasmine Won't Compromise Anymore
"Liam, pull up the surveillance footage from the club for me and call the police. And you, stop her." Ethan's voice was deep as he glanced at the time. "You have two minutes to think about what you've seen today. Think about what should be said and what shouldn't be."
The manager nodded in panic, quickly warning the onlookers not to watch and urging them to leave.
In an instant, everyone ran off, afraid of angering Ethan any further.
Emily breathed a sigh of relief and whispered in Jasmine's ear, "Jasmine, I called Mr. Douglas."
Jasmine remained silent, keeping her head bowed and staring at the ground.
"Mr. Douglas, take a look at these." Liam took the phone from an employee's hand and gasped in shock.
Zelda had actually posted a video of her and her friends bullying Jasmine from five years ago online.
Ethan glanced at the phone; his gaze sharp as it swept over Zelda.
Fearful, Zelda took a step back. "Ethan, what are you doing? What does this mean? Why are you helping her? I... I think I should leave."
Zelda sensed trouble was brewing and wanted to run.
But Liam stopped her. "Miss Brown, assaulting someone is a crime. You were even foolish enough to post evidence of your crime from five years ago."
Liam sneered. "You could even face a three-year sentence."
Zelda's face went pale; she looked utterly terrified as she gazed at Ethan, "Ethan... I... What’s going on? I only hit her because she deserved it; she seduced my man."
"I am Henry's fiancée. Ethan, are you really going to stop me from leaving and call the police? Aren't you afraid of offending the SHC Group and worsening your relationship with the Patrick family?" Zelda was shocked, only coming to her senses now.
Ethan had no need to jeopardize his relationship with Henry for the sake of Jasmine.
Stellar Enterprises and SHC Group were partners. A good relationship was mutually beneficial for both Ethan and Henry.
"Do you think I care?" Ethan asked coldly.
Ethan took off his jacket and draped it over Jasmine, gesturing for Emily to take her somewhere so she could rest.
"Sharing harmful videos, spreading rumors, malicious defamation, and invasion of privacy. They’re over five hundred reposts; this is solid evidence. You’ll face multiple charges."
Ethan held the phone, calmly warning Zelda. "You released the evidence yourself; you'll go to jail. There's no escaping this."
After tossing the phone to Liam, Ethan spoke again. "Find the best lawyer in Silverlight City."
"Ethan... Ethan, are you joking? Do you think I'm scared? Ethan... for Jasmine’s sake, you're willing to sacrifice your relationship with the Patrick family?" Zelda was trembling with fear, even her voice was beginning to shake.
She hurriedly approached Ethan, realizing she had done something very foolish by posting Jasmine's video, essentially exposing her own guilt.
She did it because she was sure Jasmine wouldn't fight back; she thought she would only cower in shame.
But she didn't expect Ethan to actually help Jasmine.
"Ethan, stop messing around, stop scaring me. You and my sister are going to be in a relationship soon, everyone in the Brown family knows that you two will be engaged and married sooner or later; we are all family. Ethan, just consider this a lesson for me; I won't do it again next time."
Not far away, Jasmine sat on a bench, numbly watching Zelda beg desperately.
So, the one who led the torment against her also had fears and troubles.
With a sardonic laugh, Jasmine lifted her head and wiped away the blood that was oozing from her nose.
But the nosebleed didn’t stop and blood dripped onto her clothes.
Jasmine lowered her head, and her eyes reddened.
Once again, she owed Ethan a suit.
This time, she really had no way of repaying him.
After wiping her face hastily, Jasmine sat there, looking disheveled and fragile, like a rag doll without a soul.
You see, this was how society was, one layer pressing down on another.
When someone with a higher status pressured Zelda, she went from being aloof to begging in a humble manner.
"Jasmine..." Emily crouched beside Jasmine, speaking softly. "You can't continue to let them trample over you this. These people won't let you go; have you not seen how tough the road will be ahead?"
Jasmine numbly looked at Emily, once again wiping away the blood dripping from her nose haphazardly.
"She involved my son in this... This time; I’ll fight back." Jasmine took a deep breath, as if she had made a decision.
Emily nodded and hugged Jasmine with some pity. "No one can protect us forever, but Jasmine, you must use anyone you can to help you, even if these men only provide temporary benefits and support, you must firmly grasp them. Climb up the ladder one step at a time."
Emily's voice was soft but hoarse.
Over the years, she had learned firsthand that one must have a certain amount of power to truly live life.
Those with power were high above, while people like them could only beg in humility.
But a person could not willingly stay at the bottom forever.
"You have already paid for your sins. You are a mother, and you have a son. For the sake of your son, you must become stronger." Emily's eyes were red as she held Jasmine's hand tightly.
Jasmine lowered her gaze and sat quietly, her body gradually becoming numb.
The police arrived quickly to take Zelda away.
At that moment, Zelda truly realized the seriousness of the situation.
"Ethan! You can't treat me like this! You can't do this to me!" Zelda shouted uncontrollably while looking at Ethan in fear. "Ethan, six years ago, you and my sister at the hotel..."
Ethan's cold gaze met Zelda's, a warning evident in his eyes.
Zelda was not foolish enough to not understand what the look in his eyes meant.
She panicked and quickly began begging once again, "Ethan, I know I was wrong; I talk too much. Please tell the police to go."
Ethan glanced at where Jasmine was sitting. "She is the victim."
Zelda instantly understood and rushed over to Jasmine, urging her to tell the police that it wasn’t that serous. "Jasmine! Tell the police that this is a joke! Tell them now!"
Zelda showed no sign of remorse; she was still threatening her.
Jasmine numbly glanced at Ethan, then at the police. "My... left ear... I can't hear."
The police hesitated, moving forward to check Jasmine's injuries.
Jasmine lowered her gaze and spoke again. "She hit me. Five years ago, she had people hurt me and defame me. She caused me... I attempted suicide multiple times; there are records in Silverlight City prison."
Jasmine rolled up her sleeve, revealing the gruesome scars on her arm.
Standing up slowly, Jasmine spoke again. "I need help..."
The police looked in shock at Jasmine's arm, then at Ethan. "Take her away."
"The evidence is here; I've already prepared everything for you." Liam walked over, handing over the surveillance footage and videos to the police. "Our lawyer will also be arriving."
The police nodded and had Zelda taken away.
Ethan looked at Jasmine with a complex gaze. He furrowed his brows and remained silent for a long time.
"Let go of me; I'm not going to the police station! I haven't done anything wrong!" Zelda continued to shout.
Outside the door, Henry entered with his assistant, his voice low as he asked, "What the hell is going on?"
Zelda looked at Henry with surprise. "Henry, you'll save me, right? They want to take me to the police station and send me to jail! Henry, save me!"
