Chapter 511 Paternity Test

Ethan's mouth twitched. "What did you say?"

"He likes men," Jasmine said, stomping her foot and blushing.

Ethan was shocked. "Where'd you hear that?"

"Raymond's CEO, Brandon. Someone saw him at a gay bar. He likes men," Jasmine said seriously.

Ethan burst out laughing. He didn't expect Jasmine to be into this kind of gossip.

"Brandon's actually bi. He's had plenty of girlfriends too," Ethan said.

"Then stay away from him," Jasmine insisted. She didn't want any competition, male or female. "People say Raymond's CEO is tough, but he opened up Raymond's private resort for us and treats you really well."

The more Jasmine thought about it, the more she felt Brandon was being way too nice to Ethan. It couldn't just be friendship.

"Well," Ethan hesitated, not wanting to reveal his true identity. He wasn't sure what Howard would do if he did.

If he told Jasmine, she'd worry.

"Brandon's actually pretty loyal in relationships, and you've met him," Ethan almost slipped, remembering Brandon had come to fix their toilet. He was their landlord.

Jasmine thought for a moment. "I haven't met Brandon."

Ethan quickly backtracked, "I must've been mistaken."

"Anyway, stay away from him. Even if you have to work, keep your distance."

"Alright," Ethan promised.

Meanwhile, Brandon, a VP at Raymond, was probably sneezing.

At the Willer Group.

"Miss, Aleah got bailed out because of a psychiatric evaluation."

Someone used mental illness to bail Aleah out.

"Who?" Betty asked.

"Sophia," Scott said. "She also used Aleah to call away Mr. Brown."

Betty frowned. Sophia used Aleah to distract Richard.

"Keep an eye on them. Don't let Richard be in danger," Betty said, worried about Sophia's motives.

"Miss, have you considered Sophia's decision to reconnect Mr. Brown could be related to his background?" Scott suggested.

Betty rubbed her temples, worried about the same thing. Sophia hadn't shown any flaws, and Betty couldn't guess her true intentions. It seemed Sophia was trying to win Richard over with familial affection.

Betty leaned back, biting her pen, feeling uneasy. She called Richard.

"Honey," Richard answered immediately, putting Betty in a good mood.

"Where are you?" she asked.

"I'm at a café near IF plaza. Aleah's out, and I wanted to warn her one last time," Richard said honestly.

Betty loved this about him and laughed. "Did you finish warning her?"

"Yeah," Richard said, lighting a cigarette.

"Did it work?" Betty chuckled.

"Probably not," Richard sighed.

Betty laughed. "So, what do we do now?"

"Don't worry, I'll protect you," Richard said softly. "Sophia and Aleah are somehow involved."

"What’s Sophia’s goal? Maybe you should play along for now and see what she’s up to," Betty suggested, but then remembered how naive Richard could be.

"What?" Richard was confused. "You want me to do what?"

"Just pretend," Betty said.

"No," Richard refused.

"What am I gonna do with such an honest husband?" Betty laughed. "Wait for me there. I'll come pick you up."

"Aren't you busy?" Richard asked.

"I suddenly want to go shopping with you." With such a good husband, she wanted to spoil him.

After hanging up, Betty got up but felt dizzy, like she had low blood sugar.

"Miss?" Cassie stepped forward to support her.

Betty rubbed her temples. "My health's been off lately."

"Your annual physical is coming up. Should we schedule it early?" Cassie asked.

"Maybe in a few days," Betty said. She didn't have time for a check-up now.

Sophia was targeting Richard, Aleah was out again, and now there was the mental illness excuse.

Sighing, Betty continued to walk out. Her stomach felt queasy. "Get me some lemon juice. Make it sour."

Cassie hesitated. "Miss, have you had your period this month?"

Betty stopped and looked at Cassie, stunned. "I've been too busy. Maybe my hormones are off."

"Have you and Mr. Brown been using contraception?" Cassie asked awkwardly.

Betty took a deep breath. "No."

"Miss, let's go to the hospital first."

Betty nodded nervously.

At IF Plaza, Richard was avoiding Sophia and Aleah, hiding by himself. He had been waiting for half an hour, but Betty hadn't arrived. Worried, he called her. "Honey?"

Cassie answered. "Mr. Brown, this is Cassie. We're at the hospital."

Richard's nerves tightened. "Which hospital?"

"Capital Hospital. Miss is—" Before Cassie could finish, Richard hung up and drove to the hospital in a panic.

Had those people targeted Betty again? The Hughes family lunatics!

Watching Richard's car drive away, Sophia looked at Aleah. "Did you get it?"

Aleah nodded. "I hugged Richard and managed to pull out some hair." She wrapped the hair in a napkin.

Sophia smirked. "You were ruthless, pulling out so much of my son's hair."

Aleah said nothing.

Looking at the hair, Sophia spoke again, "Alright, you can rest now. I'll help you with what you want, but you have to do as I said."

Aleah nodded. "Don't worry."

Holding the hair, Sophia smiled and dialed Arnold's number. "If you don't believe me, come do a paternity test with your son. I have his hair. Once the results are out, I'll tell you everything about your son."

Sophia wanted Arnold to know he had a son first. Then, she would make her next move.
