Chapter 683 Internal and External Troubles of the Douglas Group

At San Fransisco, the Douglas Group people were chatting.

"The safety incident issue has just been suppressed, and today it's trending again. The family of the accident victim couldn't handle the online harassment and committed suicide!"

"Someone deliberately led the online harassment against the victim's family, saying they didn't care about their own family members' lives and took the Douglas family's compensation for a private settlement, all for money."

The overwhelming public opinion was suffocating.

Sometimes, public opinion was a lethal weapon.

The people behind this deliberately calculated to push the victim's family to the brink, further escalating the situation.

In this way, the Douglas Group would once again be thrust into the spotlight.

For the sake of so-called interests and their own calculations, they disregarded human lives.

"In the eyes of those in power, what is a human life worth? As long as they can achieve their goals and get the benefits they want, human lives mean nothing to them." Jasmine headed straight to the Douglas Group right after getting off the plane.

She knew Owen wouldn't let the Douglas Group off so easily.

Such a good opportunity, of course, they would seize it.

"Public opinion is overwhelmingly against the Douglas Group again. The police have confirmed possible human involvement, but the perpetrator remains at large and there is little evidence. In the short term, clearing the Douglas Group's name is unlikely. Our stock market has already taken a severe hit. If this continues, our company might not survive." Harold's face didn't look good, and he sighed.

He seemed resigned to his fate.

It was as if he admitted he was outmatched and couldn't turn the situation around.

"Mr. Cunningham, many executives have already submitted their resignation letters, probably thinking the Douglas family can't get through this." Jenna sighed. If this continued, the Douglas Group would first fall into internal chaos.

With Ethan not around, it was hard for Jasmine to stabilize these people's hearts with her abilities alone.

"They're all heartless people," Liam said angrily.

"That's just human nature, driven by interests. You can't say they're wrong. They feel the crisis and think the Douglas Group is going bankrupt. Resigning now, with a good resume from the Douglas family, they can still get a good job," Jasmine said calmly, shaking her head.

Employees and the company had always been interdependent.

If the company was going down, people couldn't blame everyone for leaving; they were all people struggling to make a living.

"So, we still need to find the reason within ourselves. It's the fault of upper management, making employees lose confidence, which is why they're leaving. They have families to support too." Jasmine looked at Jenna. "Mobilize all the resigning employees. Those willing to stay and go through this tough time with the Douglas Group should be given certain benefits. You handle it."

Jenna was an old employee. Although Jasmine had initially trapped her with leverage, she couldn't deny her abilities.

Jenna nodded and glanced at Jasmine. "Mr. Douglas."

Knowing she had asked too much, Jenna changed the topic. "Now the board members are considering pushing Bradley forward. They still have a bias against women, thinking we can't hold the fort."

Jasmine nodded; those people indeed thought that way.

"They even found lawyers, trying to get Claire and Daniel out." Jenna rubbed her temples.

They were using every means to gather things.

Jasmine sneered. "Let them mess around."

"But you do need to be more cautious about Bradley." Jenna looked around. "I saw Oscar Dixon from the information department sneaking into his office yesterday. Oscar was brought in by Mark, and I see him getting quite close to the Hawthorne Group people."

"Bradley did go to see Owen." Ben also entered the office, speaking in Jasmine's ear, "I had someone keep an eye on Bradley. Owen arranged to meet him today at the Golden Ember restaurant."

Jasmine didn't speak, looking out the window.

At this time, if Bradley wanted to seize power, it would indeed be easy.

Should she have eliminated Bradley from the start?

Golden Ember restaurant featured an elegant courtyard design with trickling water and a tranquil environment, where the sound of the piano lingered and mist swirled.

Bradley sat on the side, speaking politely. "What urgent matter do you have to discuss with me?"

"You are really busy. I've invited you several times, but you never came," Owen said with a smile.

Bradley's expression was distant. "The company is busy, I can't get away."

"The Douglas Group is already at its last gasp. Without Howard and Ethan, how can Jasmine, a woman, hold it up? It's a pipe dream." Owen sneered, picking up his cup to drink tea.

"I don't know much about tea," Bradley said softly. "It's a waste for you to let me drink it."

"You are Howard's only child," Owen said meaningfully. "How can it be a waste? You deserve a better future."

Bradley got the Douglas Group and took everything that belonged to Howard.

"Are you willing to hand over what belongs to you and listen to a woman boss you around? Yasmine will never truly trust you. Even if you are submissive all your life, she will still doubt you. Instead of that, why not take what belongs to you directly and stand tall from now on?" Owen was persuading Bradley.

If Bradley stood up to fight Jasmine now, the Douglas family would be in complete chaos.

They could take advantage of the situation, causing the Douglas Group's century-old foundation to collapse.

Everything William had planned and taken from the Hawthorne family would now be returned!

Bradley looked at the tea Owen had poured himself and remained silent for a long time.

If he drank this tea, he would be entangled.

"Sorry. I'm not worthy of such expensive tea. I'm allergic to tea; it makes me uncomfortable." Bradley stood up and looked at the time. "There are still a lot of things waiting for me to handle at the company. I gotta go."

"Bradley." Owen squinted his eyes, clearly losing patience. "I thought you were a smart person. Your mother's life was lost; are you really willing to accept that?"

Bradley clenched his hands tightly, said nothing, and left directly.

He didn't want to fight for these things.

"Your existence is a mistake. Even if you don't want to fight, you can't escape," Owen said in a deep voice.

"He doesn't know what's good for him." After Bradley left, Marcus walked up to Owen.

"He's not stupid; he's still keeping an eye on things. Don't worry. Even if he really doesn't want to fight, the fact that he came to see me today means Yasmine will never trust him again. He will come back to me."

Owen was confident Bradley would return.

Outside the Golden Ember restaurant, Bradley walked absentmindedly along the road, and a car stopped by the roadside.

"Get in the car." Brandon rolled down the window, his voice low.

Bradley ignored Brandon and continued walking.

Brandon frowned, clearly showing anger.

"Do you take my words lightly? Bradley! Didn't I warn you that if you dared to make any moves, I would break your hands one by one?" Brandon got out of the car, grabbed Bradley's wrist, and slammed him against the car door.

Bradley's back hurt badly, his nose tingled, and he sneered. "Have you ever truly trusted me?"
