Chapter 822 Edward's Rival in Love is a Doctor
"Dr. Pena, the director is looking for you," a nurse called his name.
At the moment of turning around, Hestia's body suddenly stiffened.
It was indeed Saul, he actually came back.
Back then, he slept with Jessa, left without a word to study abroad, and now he has returned.
But what did it have to do with her?
Hestia turned around, lowered her head, and quickly left.
Edward looked at her, then at the tall doctor over there, and keenly sensed something was wrong.
He had heard that Hestia had an ex-boyfriend who cheated on her, which had almost become a joke known to everyone at Stanford University.
Hestia was forced into blind dates because this joke reached her parents.
Edward didn't know whether to thank that short-sighted person for leaving such a good wife to him.
"Dr. Pena, that patient named Jessa is looking for you again," a nurse said.
Saul frowned and looked at the time. "Next time, refer her to another doctor. If she continues to pester, contact security."
The nurse nodded and quietly left.
Over there, Edward observed Saul and, after confirming that he wasn't as handsome, rich, or charming as himself, left happily.
As soon as Edward left, Saul turned to look in the direction where Edward and Hestia had left.
"Saul! Are you avoiding me? What do you mean by this?"
"Saul, come out! You left the country without a word after what happened, and now you're back quietly. You've been like a ghost for years, are you joking with me?" Jessa shouted angrily, storming in and yelling.
Saul rubbed his temples. "If you continue to pester me, I'll call security."
Jessa laughed mockingly. "Saul, are you still thinking about Hestia? Let me tell you, she already has a boyfriend, give up."
Saul was stunned for a moment, stopped in his tracks, and looked back at Jessa, seemingly very confident. "She wouldn't be like that."
"You're too full of yourself. Do you really think Hestia is a good person? She's just pretending to be reserved! She already has a new man and has slept with him. When she was dating you, she didn't even let you touch her, acting all high and mighty." Jessa said indignantly, clenching her fists.
She couldn't stand Hestia, who was inferior to her in every way, could find a man as excellent as Saul, while Saul only had eyes for Hestia.
Jessa admitted that she had deliberately schemed with Saul back then, but she was too confident in herself, always thinking that a man like Saul just hadn't experienced sleeping with a woman yet, and once he did with her, he would fall in love with her.
But Jessa didn't expect Saul to disappear without a trace, which deeply hurt her pride.
What did she lack compared to Hestia?
So in the following years, she opposed Hestia in every way, stealing every man who showed interest in Hestia.
Just a few days ago, a senior who had contact with Saul said that Saul had returned.
That's why she came to the hospital.
"Jessa, belittling Hestia won't elevate you. She is my girlfriend, and I know her better than you. If it weren't for your deliberate scheming, we wouldn't have broken up. If you continue to make trouble, I'll only find you more repulsive, so please leave." Saul clenched his fists tightly.
He admitted that he went abroad to escape back then.
In the past two years abroad, he had tried to contact Hestia, but his messages went unanswered.
He knew Hestia too well, she wouldn't forgive him, and they couldn't truly mend their relationship.
He thought he could leave first, and when Hestia calmed down, he would come back. He didn't believe Hestia would fall in love with someone else.
He was too confident that no other man would discover Hestia's worth besides him.
After all, not everyone could see the brilliance of a hidden gem.
"Saul, we have a class reunion in a few days, and we're required to bring our boyfriends. Don't you want to see Hestia's new boyfriend? If you're scared, then don't come." Jessa said through gritted teeth, turning to leave.
She was unconvinced.
She had inquired about Hestia's new boyfriend, he was, it turned out, a standard employee at the Cunningham Group, yet surely possessed certain capabilities to have secured a position there.
At this reunion, she would make Hestia realize that all men would abandon her.
A woman as plain and unromantic as her was worthless compared to someone sexy.
The Cunningham Group.
Hestia had just entered the office and found her desk had been cleared out.
Hestia was a bit angry, clenching her fists and turning to another intern, Primrose. "Why did you move my things?"
"You got drunk and offended a major client yesterday, so you've been fired. Didn't Callum inform you?" Primrose sneered, proudly sitting at her desk.
The other interns didn't dare to make a sound.
Primrose had the strongest background and connections between them, making her the most likely to stay. As long as she got rid of Hestia, she would be the best intern. She not only wanted to stay but also be the best.
Hestia took a deep breath, knowing it would be like this.
Even so, she had tried her best.
Picking up her things that had been thrown under the desk, Hestia prepared to leave.
Just as she was about to go, a senior executive from the company arrived.
"Hello everyone, I'm from the president's office, the president's assistant. My name is Silas," Silas said in a deep voice, glancing at Hestia. "Ms. Sharp, where are you going?"
Hestia was stunned, not expecting Silas from the president's office to know her name. "I've been fired."
"Firing an employee requires HR approval, and HR hasn't received any notice of firing any employee, even an intern," Silas cleared his throat and spoke again. "I'm here today to inform you that your supervisor has been sued by the company for multiple charges, including leaking company secrets. He is currently under investigation, and a new supervisor will be appointed soon. Please continue to work hard, as the assessment is coming up."
Hestia looked at Silas in surprise. "Callum is under investigation?"
Silas nodded.
Primrose was also stunned, standing up abruptly and nervously speaking. "What about us... I mean, how could Callum make a mistake?"
Silas ignored Primrose and looked at Hestia again. "Keep up the good work. I've reviewed your grade, and you're the best in every aspect. Keep it up."
Hestia stood there excitedly, unable to react for a long time.
Not only was she not fired, but she was also praised.
Sitting at her desk, Hestia excitedly took out her phone, instinctively wanting to share the good news with Edward.
She was a bit surprised, her ears turning red belatedly: [I was so lucky today. Thank you for helping me yesterday.]
Edward quickly replied: [Honey, the weather is great today. I'm off work, waiting for you at home tonight.]
Hestia blushed even more: [Okay.]
Covering her face with her hands, Hestia replied after a while: [I want to eat ribs.]
Edward sent a cute emoji: [OK.]
