Chapter 687 Avery and Edgar
The Cunningham family was tense with Jasmine's sudden return, as Cordelia and Edward feared upsetting her.
However, Jasmine remained calm, playing building blocks with the children.
"Jasmine," Cordelia walked over and softly asked. "Are you still hungry? Should I make you something to eat?"
Jasmine shook her head and smiled at Cordelia. "Mom, I'm not hungry. I'm good for real."
Cordelia felt sorry for Jasmine and sat down beside her. "Do you really not need us to help?"
Jasmine still shook her head. "The Douglas family and the Hawthorne family, along with those scheming behind the scenes, are likely old enemies. In this situation, our Cunningham family shouldn't get involved. Business matters can't be meddled with lightly. After all, the company isn't just ours; there are so many employees and executives. We can't gamble with their interests."
This was a feud between the two families and those behind the scenes. If the Cunningham family got involved, it might cause trouble.
Jasmine didn't want the Cunningham family to get involved.
"Nolan has already helped me a lot. The Cunningham Group's PR team has been assisting me, and Nolan even went on a date with Avery to help me." Jasmine was a bit amused. "It's really not necessary. The Cunningham family really doesn't need to get involved."
"Huh?" Edward walked over with a glass of milk. "Nolan went on a date with Avery?"
Jasmine nodded. "The media caught them today, and there are also photos of them dating at night."
The headlines were eye-catching: The Cunningham Group's president and the Hawthorne Group's two heiresses on separate night outings.
Nolan was very busy because of it.
Edward sighed helplessly. "Nolan has to sell himself now."
Cordelia glared at Edward. "Why don't you go instead of Nolan?"
Edward coughed. "No, thanks. I think Nolan is enjoying it."
"I was bored and made some cookies. Edward, take some to Nolan tomorrow." Jasmine pointed to the cookies on the table, which she had made at home when she couldn't sleep thinking about Ethan.
"Mom's cookies are delicious," Justin said with a small face.
Joe also nodded. "Mommy's cookies are yummy."
Edward nodded. "I'm not going to the office tomorrow. I have to go on a business trip early in the morning. I'll take them to his house."
"Has Nolan not been coming home often lately? Does he really date someone?" Edward asked.
Jasmine shook her head. "I don't think so. He is quite self-disciplined. Didn't he say he wouldn't bring women home?"
Cordelia sighed. "My kids are grown up now; just let him go."
Edward's phone rang, and he answered it. The person on the other end was anxious. "Come to the office quickly. Edgar and Nolan are fighting!"
Edward looked confused. Nolan and Edgar were fighting?
Jasmine said, "Oh no! Avery and Edgar seem to have an unusual relationship. And now there are rumors about her and Nolan. They must be fighting."
Edward hung up the phone, cursed, and quickly walked out.
"This family falls apart without Edward." Cordelia sighed helplessly.
Jasmine was very curious and grabbed her coat to run out. "Mom, I'm skipping dinner. I'm going to check it out."
Cordelia smiled. If Jasmine still had the mood to be curious, that was good.
"Mom, we want to go too."
Justin and Joe rushed out.
Jasmine had no choice but to take them and get into Edward's car.
"Uncle, drive faster. I want to cheer for Uncle Nolan," Justin said righteously.
"Uncle Edgar won't lose!"
Joe and Justin were already arguing.
"Uncle Nolan is stronger." Justin bet that Nolan would win.
Joe snorted. "Uncle Edgar is Superman."
Edward had a headache from their arguing.
Jasmine said, "Edward, hurry up. Don't let them really fight."
At Betty's place, she lay casually on the bed, applying oil to her barely noticeable baby bump.
Her phone rang.
The call was from Avery.
"Come to the Cunningham Group. I'm here to discuss cooperation with Nolan, and Edgar and Nolan are fighting," Avery said helplessly, then added excitedly."Hurry up, or you'll miss it."
Betty quickly sat up, very excited. "Wow, they're fighting over you?"
"Obviously not for me," Avery said calmly.
"Is there something else?" Betty listened intently. "Tell me about it. Is it worth going? If I go, won't the fight be over?"
"Maybe Deborah is deliberately stirring things up," Avery said again. "By the way, Richard is also here. He got slapped by Deborah while trying to break up the fight."
Betty's mouth twitched. "I'm coming right away. Let Deborah to wait."
At the Cunningham Group, Deborah hid behind Nolan, looking at Edgar, and said with a smile, "Nolan, Edgar must have misunderstood. How could you be engaged to Avery? They are a couple. You wouldn't steal Edgar's woman, right?"
She wanted to force Nolan to say he wouldn't get engaged to Avery.
If he said it, he definitely wouldn't marry Avery.
Avery's plan to ally with the Cunningham Group would be ruined.
"You're talking nonsense. Who is Edgar's woman? Avery just took pity on him and helped him out," Kayla jumped up and scolded Edgar.
Edgar's face was gloomy as he looked at Avery.
He didn't care what others said or thought; he wanted to see how Avery defined their relationship.
Avery didn't say anything, letting Deborah talk nonsense.
She had called Betty here to use her deal with Deborah.
Only Betty could handle a woman like Deborah.
"At Jessica's homecoming party, Edgar admitted to being Avery's boyfriend. He can't go back on his word, right?" Deborah looked at Avery with a determined smile.
Even if Nolan didn't marry her, she wouldn't let him marry Avery.
"Shut up! You're so noisy," Edgar said irritably to Deborah, then turned to Avery, his voice a bit hoarse. "What do you think our relationship is?"
Edgar looked a bit nervous.
He had never been so serious about a relationship before. He admitted he had been wild in the past and never took relationships seriously. But he seemed to have real feelings for Avery.
It was probably karma. In theirrelationship, Avery was the one who didn't value feelings.
Clearly, Avery was a womanizer who slept with him without taking responsibility.
"Edgar, I thought I made it very clear. We're not even friends," Avery said coldly.
She knew very well that she and Edgar would never work out.
Even if she didn't marry Nolan, she would marry the president of another company. Her husband could be a figurehead, could be invisible, but he couldn't be the most favored son in the family.
She wanted a comrade, not love.
