Chapter 666 Evan is Finally Free
A large group of troublemakers suddenly appeared outside LY, indicating the situation was far from simple.
The Douglas Group had just undergone a change, and they did not even acknowledge Jasmine's management. How did these people know?
Jasmine was not the legal representative of LY, just part of the management. They were clearly targeting Jasmine.
"Didn't you say there were people causing trouble?" When Jasmine rushed back, everything outside the company was calm, and there wasn't a single person in sight.
"Where are they?" Tom was also confused.
Didn't Liam say there were a lot of troublemakers outside LY?
"Those troublemakers? Samuel called the police and had a few arrested, and the rest dispersed," the receptionist said admiringly. "He is so cool; he resolved it quickly."
Jasmine paused and smiled.
In the past, she was used to fighting alone, being threatened, hurt, and schemed against. But not anymore.
She had family and friends.
"If the Douglas family is busy, I've got things covered here," Samuel said as he walked out of the elevator, smiling at Jasmine. "Anyone who wants to mess with LY has to get my approval first."
The Long family was not to be trifled with.
And Samuel had never been a useless person.
If he couldn't handle this, his brothers would laugh at him, right?
Jasmine smiled back at Samuel. At this moment, no words were needed; their bond was stronger than words.
This was her ally, and they would move forward together.
Her phone rang; it was Brandon calling.
"Hello?" Jasmine was a bit nervous.
"I heard from Liam and saw the news. You've had a tough day. With me at the Raymond Group, you don't need to worry. I've taken care of everything, and the company is running smoothly. Go home, take a hot bath, rest, drink more water, and don't get angry. Wait for Ethan to come back."
Jasmine was stunned, and tears came as she smiled.
Yes, it was great to have them around.
"Okay," Jasmine responded. Her friends were strong, and she could completely trust them.
She just needed to take care of the Douglas family and wait for Ethan to return.
After hanging up, Jasmine sighed in relief. Someone wanted to ruin her, but times had changed.
She would not repeat the mistakes of the past.
Her phone rang again; this time, it was Evelina.
Jasmine was a bit surprised and quickly answered the call.
"Weren't you on a trip?"
"Jasmine, I'm on my way back. Evan might be in trouble." Evelina called Jasmine because she was afraid that if something happened to Evan, Jasmine would blame herself.
After all, they had grown up together and still had some feelings for each other.
Jasmine's grip on her phone tightened, and she hoarsely asked, "In trouble? What do you mean?"
"He has suicidal tendencies." Evelina was silent for a moment before speaking again, "We've already called the police, and they tracked him heading towards Coastal Road."
"I'm heading there now." Jasmine hung up and ran out.
Even though she had hated Evan, even though she would never forgive him, she still didn't want him to die.
After all, Evan had given her twenty-one years of happiness.
Evan drove at the sea cliff.
He remembered Jasmine once saying her wish was to be a carefree, free deep-sea fish in her next life.
Getting out of the car, Evan limped towards the edge of the cliff.
The tide was high, and the waves were crashing against the rocks.
Evan looked into the distance, at the vast, endless sea, lost in thought.
Living seemed to have little meaning for him.
Karen used him to control Alex. As long as he was alive, he was Evelina and Alex's biggest psychological obstacle.
Taking a step forward, Evan suddenly smiled.
Maybe he had let go.
His life had been long and painful, the first ten years suppressing his unusual feelings for his sister and the last five years living in guilt, pain, and regret.
"Mom, please allow me to call you that one more time. I'm sorry, the three-month agreement is over, and I know I can't continue to be your son. In this life, I never felt parental love. It seems I was born to be extra, just a tool.''
"These past three months have been my happiest. I'm grateful to have found my dad and to have a mother who loves me. I know this is a dream, and when I wake up, I should leave. I've been selfish for half my life and don't want to continue being that way. Dad truly loves you and deserves another chance. Karen's schemes caused a rift between you two, but without me, it can heal. Please give him another chance. If there's a next life, I want to be your son again."
Evan recorded an audio message and sent it to Evelina.
He turned off his phone and placed it at the edge of the cliff.
Closing his eyes, Evan was about to step forward.
"Evan!" A car screeched to a halt by the roadside, and Elbert ran down in a panic and called out.
Evan paused, turned his back to the sea, and looked at Elbert.
He smiled at Elbert, a smile of relief, unwillingness, loneliness, and regret.
"If I die, everyone will be better off." His voice was hoarse as he took a step back.
"Evan." Elbert was a bit panicked. He admitted that he initially provoked Evan for experimental data and clinical trials in psychological treatment, but he didn't want Evan to die.
"Jasmine is in trouble now. If you die, what will she do?" Elbert tried to calm Evan, hoping to make him stay.
Evan shook his head. "She has someone to walk the road ahead with her."
Evan knew Jasmine was no longer alone.
She had friends, family, and a lover.
"Evan!" Elbert was anxious. "So many people care about you. Do you really want to cause them trouble?"
Elbert admitted that his words were unprofessional. As a psychologist, he panicked when facing a patient's suicide.
Having interacted with Evan for so long, Elbert knew he wasn't inherently bad, but people who made mistakes must pay the price.
No one was an exception.
"Elbert, thank you for this time. I know you want me to live. But I'm too tired." Evan took another step back and fell straight down.
The waves were huge, enough to swallow everything in an instant.
He had no will to live; the waves would drag him into the deep sea.
"Evan, if there's a next life, I want to be a deep-sea fish."
"Evan, after I die, can my ashes be scattered in the sea?"
"Evan, will you always protect Jasmine?"
"Evan, can we watch the sunrise together tomorrow?"
Falling into the deep sea, everything became silent, without sound.
Before death, memories flashed through his mind like a slideshow.
He lamented his imprisoned life and his soul was finally released at that moment.
He was free.
He was no longer tormented by himself.
"Evan." Elbert jumped in after him.
He wanted to save him.
As a doctor, he wanted to save him.
Instinctively, he wanted to save him.
He was wrong; his treatment was wrong from the start.
