Chapter 338 Betty Jumped from Upstairs

"Do you think emotions are something that can be experimented with?" Betty asked Braden.

"You dare not," Braden chuckled as he hugged Betty tightly. "Because you lack confidence."

"If you were to experiment on me in the same way, I guarantee that the entire world would have perished, and you would have been the most important person," Braden spoke up again.

"You really disgust me," Betty said, giving Braden a cold glare before suddenly raising her elbow and hitting him in the chest.

Braden grimaced and took a step back. "Roses are still thorny. It seems like removing your thorns will be a process."

"Before that, I will first peel off a layer of your skin," Betty said, her eyes intense as she looked at Braden.

He smiled and said, "Make the call, or we'll be late. My associates aren't nearly as patient."

Braden was intrigued, seeming very interested in the outcome of the game.

He was threatening Betty, saying that if she didn't make the call, Richard would be in danger.

"Richard, save me," Aurora cried out upstairs.

Richard stood below, furrowing his brow and speaking, "Where is she?"

Aurora was taken aback for a moment, clearly feeling a bit flustered. "Richard, I'm scared."

"You said you would jump from the second floor, didn't you? What are you afraid of?" Richard was getting anxious, calling Betty over and over again.

But Betty's phone remained switched off.

He was no longer just Betty's boyfriend, husband, or bodyguard.

If his boss had an issue, he would go crazy.

Upstairs, Betty raised an eyebrow and chuckled as she listened to Richard. She held out her phone to Braden. "Look, it just won't connect. He's been calling me non-stop."

Braden's face turned dark. "Keep dialing ."

Betty walked to the edge of the rooftop and finally reached Richard.

"Hello?"

"Richard, where are you?" Betty asked.

Downstairs, Richard looked around in panic. "Where are you?"

"What? I am on the outskirts of town on East Road, and I got into a car accident; I'm really scared. Can you come over?" Betty mimicked Aurora's tone, expressing her fear.

Richard quieted down, stood still, and cautiously asked, "Is it East Road or West Road on the outskirts of the city?"

"The East Suburban Road," Betty said with deep meaning.

"Okay, you stand in a safe place and wait for me," Richard instructed Betty to stand in a safe place.

Betty spoke up again, "Where are you?"

Richard didn't answer.

Braden furrowed his brow and glanced at his subordinate.

"Mr. Johnson,! Richard is missing. He found the person tailing him and knocked them out," the rooftop surveillance person said nervously.

Braden furrowed his brow and let out a cold chuckle. "You bunch of losers."

Betty sat calmly on the edge of the rooftop, watching Aurora on the opposite building. "Now, it's our turn to guess whether Richard is here to save you or to save me."

Betty raised the corners of her mouth. Braden seemed to have forgotten, and Richard, a retired special forces soldier, lacked the vigilance and counter-surveillance skills. If he didn't have those, was he worth the thousands of dollars in bodyguard salary she paid him each month?

Across the street, Aurora looked numb. Clearly, this time, she needed more confidence.

'I didn't understand. Can the love that has lasted for so many years really just disappear like that?’

'Some say that childhood friends are irreplaceable, as the bond formed from growing up together runs deep.'

Aurora thought and always believed in this, so even when Richard was with someone else, she never panicked.

She was confident that Richard would definitely love her.

As long as she was willing to come back, for Richard, everyone else was just a decoration.

Now, Aurora was feeling a little bit unsure of herself.

But she was still trying to persuade her.

Richard would come to rescue her first, for sure.

"He will come to rescue me," Aurora looked at Betty. "Even if he chooses you, it's only out of duty."

"I just want to see how stubborn you can be," Betty raised an eyebrow, sneering. "You keep saying you love him, yet you tricked him into coming out like this, putting him in danger. Braden is a lunatic. He could easily take Richard's life at any moment!"

Aurora looked pale. "He promised not to harm Richard."

"Are you crazy to believe that?" Betty glanced at Braden and chuckled. "Right, Braden?"

Braden smirked and remained silent.

Aurora was really panicked now. The person Braden was going to deal with was Richard, and he said he was just using helping her as a cover.

"Richard! Richard, don't come up. Hurry and leave!" Aurora began to panic and shout.

Across the street, Braden raised his hand and covered Aurora's mouth.

Betty's expression darkened for a moment as she looked at he . "Are you going to do something to Richard?”“This is Silverlight City, after all."

"What does he think he is? How dare he get a marriage license with you?" Braden was clearly targeting Richard.

Betty looked understanding. "Indeed, I still know you very well."

"Why won't you marry me when you know me so well?" Braden asked in a low voice. "We are meant to be together, a match made in heaven."

"If I marry you, everything belonging to Aiden will be yours. Your intentions are just too obvious."

Betty smirked.

His expression darkened for a moment. "I want everything about the Johnson family."

"Aiden has passed away, and now you want to marry your sister-in-law. Aren't you afraid of those elders from the Johnson family cursing you to death," Betty said softly.

"I'll make sure these old things never speak again," his eyes gleamed with fierceness.

Betty smiled and intentionally caught his attention. "You're quite ruthless. If you die in the future, you'll definitely go to hell."

"Do you think I would be afraid of going to hell?" Braden wanted to get closer to Betty.

Richard dealt with the person guarding the hallway entrance, snatching the stick from their hand.

"Richard!" Aurora shouted from across the room, "Save me."

Betty frowned, looking at Aurora, wondering if she was really stupid or if she wanted Richard dead!

Idiot!

Braden and his associates reacted quickly, surrounding Richard.

Betty clenched her fingers tightly, looking at Richard.

"Finding your way here, you're quite impressive," Braden said with a smile.

Richard didn't say anything. He just looked at Betty anxiously, checking to see if she was injured.

Betty glanced back at Aurora. "You lost."

Aurora's eyes turned red with tears. "I didn't lose. It's just his duty. I know him better than you do. When I jumped from upstairs, I saw the look in his eyes. He was scared. He still cares about me."

Betty looked back at Richard. "Is that so?"

Richard looked at Braden, his alert hairs standing on end, pointing anxiously at Betty. "I'm scared of anyone jumping off the building. Stay away from there! You might fall!"

Betty smiled and looked at Richard. "They say first love is the hardest to forget. I can never replace Aurora in your heart."

Richard watched Betty warily.

"She said that if she jumped down and died, it would be the eternal pain in your heart, and no one could replace her in your heart." Betty tilted her head and smiled at Richard.

At that moment, Richard felt his heart leap to his throat. "Betty, whatever you want to do, I'll let you decide. Don't act up. Listen to me."

Braden furrowed his brows and looked at Betty.

"Richard was my husband. After I passed away, all my inheritance went to him. I have already made a will." Betty looked at Braden and spoke again. "After he passed away, all the property belonged to his nephew, Justin, who is Ethan's son. It will never come to you."

Braden clenched his fists. "Betty!"

The sound of sirens echoed around.

"When I arrived, I immediately called the police," Betty shrugged. "Do you really think I'm a fool?"

Betty stood up and walked to the edge of the old building, looking at the already fading Aurora.

"You jump once, I jump once, that's fair."
