Chapter 91 Jasmine was Finally Ready to Fight Back

Jasmine said this on purpose, just to let Howard and Carmen know that she wouldn't let Daniel off easily.
Of course, she didn't truly harbor any hopes that Ethan would marry her.
Ethan could use this opportunity to leverage Carmen and Howard.
After all, once he got married, according to Mr. Douglas Sr.'s will, he would acquire 41% of Stellar Enterprises' shares, which included the shares of Ethan's biological mother and Mr. Douglas Sr.
What Carmen was after were the 23% of shares belonging to Mr. Douglas Sr. within that 41%, as well as the current 21% held by Howard.
In Carmen’s view, as long as Daniel’s share was higher than Ethan’s, they had a chance to kick Ethan out of the game and take full control of Stellar Enterprises.
As soon as Jasmine finished speaking, Howard laughed, his reaction a mixture of shock and scorn. “A scammer pretending to be a high society heiress, deceiving the Wilson family for so many years, now wants to marry into the Douglas family?”
Ethan’s body tensed for a moment as he turned back to look at Jasmine.
He knew that Jasmine wasn’t serious; it was a strategy to pressure Carmen.
“The marriage between me and the Douglas family was arranged by Mr. Douglas Sr. when he was alive, because I saved Mr. Douglas Sr.’s life. It wasn’t something I deceived my way into,” Jasmine defended herself with a lowered head.
She had never thought about marrying into the Douglas family.
Her engagement with Daniel was also due to Mr. Douglas Sr.'s fondness for her.
"You're shameless. I suggest you better give up this idea," Carmen sarcastically remarked in a cold tone. "If you want something, just say it directly. Don't end up shooting yourself in the foot later on."
“Either Ethan marries me or Daniel goes to jail.” Jasmine clenched her fists tightly, her palms bleeding from her nails digging into them.
It was to see whether Howard would sacrifice his elder son’s happiness for his younger son.
“How do you see it, Ethan?” Howard looked at Ethan.
Ethan sneered. “Father, are you planning to force me to marry Jasmine for Daniel’s sake?”
Howard waved his hand dismissively. “For your brother’s sake, talk some sense into her. This matter absolutely must not blow up. It would ruin our family’s reputation.”
Ethan said nothing.
“Howard...” Carmen initially wanted to ridicule Jasmine, but on second thought, she decided against it.
If Jasmine, a woman with a very tarnished reputation, really had to marry Ethan...
Maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing after all.
This way, Ethan would be stained.
The shares left by Ethan's mother were untouchable, so she had to fight for Mr. Douglas Sr.’s and Howard’s shares and give them to her son, Daniel.
“Ethan has reached the age to marry, it's just a matter of bluffing a bit. We can’t have Daniel’s reputation ruined; he certainly can’t go to jail.” Carmen hugged Howard’s arm, pulling him out of the hospital room.
“Howard, Daniel suffered too much when he was a child; you can’t be biased now. Ethan won’t suffer any losses,” Carmen implored with a choked-up voice as she looked at Howard.
Howard gave Carmen a cold glance, fully aware of her intentions. “Ethan’s reputation is equally tied to the Douglas family, understand?”
Carmen paused and bowed her head. “Howard, then... what about Daniel? Do we just let him be taken away by the police? The media have already caught wind of it.”
Howard furrowed his brow. “Then we’ll involve the Wilson Family and make sure they handle Jasmine properly!”

Ward.
Jasmine kept her head down, remaining silent.
Ethan looked at Jasmine meaningfully for a long time before smiling and speaking. "It seems that even without my help, you have the ability to protect yourself."
Jasmine remained silent.
Having the ability to protect herself and avoiding trouble were two different things for Jasmine.
"Daniel is at the police station, and Carmen won't let you off easily. Are you really planning on marrying me?" Ethan looked at Jasmine.
Jasmine shook her head in panic. "No... no, I was just... just..."
"Just using me temporarily," Ethan finished Jasmine's sentence for her.
Jasmine lowered her head, her eyes turning red. "I'm sorry... I have to protect myself."
She needed to protect herself, but she also didn't want to sit by and watch Carmen slander Ethan.
"Was it you who saved Mr. Douglas Sr. at Back Sea Garden that year?" Ethan asked meaningfully.
Jasmine nodded. "Yes... but I didn't have any other intentions."
She was afraid that Ethan would misunderstand her.
Ethan was somewhat surprised.
Before Mr. Douglas Sr. passed away, he left two wills, one of which was kept secret. Despite Carmen and Howard's efforts, they couldn't uncover the contents of the second will.
The lawyer at the notary office stated that the second will could only be revealed by finding the person who saved Mr. Douglas Sr. that year.
Carmen and Howard clearly knew that Jasmine was the one who saved Mr. Douglas Sr., but they deliberately claimed it was Serena.
No wonder Serena made various excuses to avoid going to the notary office, as she knew very well that she was not the one who saved Mr. Douglas Sr.
"What do you plan to do next?" Ethan sat on the nearby sofa, speaking meaningfully.
He hadn't expected that Jasmine's value could rival a chest full of treasure.
"Mr. Douglas, can you guarantee the safety of Justin and my brother, Richard?" Jasmine nervously looked at Ethan.
She wanted a clear assurance from Ethan.
This time, Jasmine seemed to have awakened before it was too late.
For some people, hiding was futile.
She needed to take the initiative, ensuring that the other party had no chance to turn the tables or continue to harm her.
She had to seize the opportunity and strike decisively.
"I can guarantee the safety of Justin and Richard, but you should be aware that this protection is only temporary. As long as you're a thorn in their side, I can't guarantee their safety indefinitely," Ethan stated.
Ethan was speaking the truth.
He aimed to resolve all of Jasmine's concerns and see how far she could go.
It was often said that when pushed to the edge, even a rabbit would bite.
Daniel, Carmen, and the Wilson family have pushed Jasmine to her limits. While he could assist Jasmine in dealing with these individuals, considering Jasmine's temperament and the severity of her depression, it appears that ultimately, she must address these challenges herself.
Jasmine kept her head down in silence.
It took a long time before she spoke up in a hoarse voice. "Mr. Douglas, please help me by releasing the video of Daniel's assault online."
Jasmine knew that Ethan had the ability to stir up a storm, making Daniel and Carmen the focus of public opinion.
Seeing Ethan's silence, Jasmine looked at him anxiously, gambling on whether Ethan would take action against Daniel and Carmen.
But she couldn't guarantee whether Ethan would dare to do so, as it involved the reputation of the Douglas family. If something happened to Daniel, Stellar Enterprises would inevitably be affected to some extent.
Ethan smiled, his gaze on Jasmine becoming increasingly intense.
...
Although Ethan didn't directly agree to Jasmine's request, the next morning Jasmine was awakened by the noisy gossip in the hospital.
Nurses and patients in the hallway were discussing Daniel's involvement in criminal activities.
Jasmine knew it was Ethan's doing.
Once public opinion fermented, no one could manipulate online comments behind the scenes to protect Daniel against the tide of public opinion.
Carmen would still come to "beg" her.
Taking out her phone, Jasmine hesitated for a long time before dialing an unfamiliar number.
"I'm Jasmine."
"I figured," the voice on the other end was hoarse and somewhat lazy.
"Have you seen the public opinion about Daniel?" Jasmine asked in a low voice.
"Have you made up your mind?" The person asked indifferently.
"Taking advantage of this momentum, we can also push the news that Carmen used to be a mistress, who drove the original wife to her death." Jasmine took a deep breath.
She couldn't bear to face the overwhelming online violence alone.
She needed to make Carmen too preoccupied to bother with her, leaving no time to cause trouble for her.
"This won’t be enough to stop Daniel." The man on the phone spoke again, his voice hoarse. "I guess, within a month, a bodyguard will take the blame. He will only face detention and a fine."
Jasmine's fingers trembled. "A month is enough."
"Jasmine, besides me, no one will sincerely help you. Everyone has their own motives. Henry and Ethan, they both deserve to die." The man on the phone seemed to harbor a strong resentment towards Henry and Ethan.
"Don't involve Ethan, not even a bit... If public opinion hurts him, our cooperation ends here." Jasmine sounded urgent.
The man's voice on the phone suddenly turned cold. "Are you interested in Ethan?"
