Chapter 245 The Truth of That Incident
It was midnight and Ethan couldn't sleep, suffering from insomnia.
Taking advantage of Wilson's deep sleep, Ethan quietly went to check on the three children, confirming that they were all fast asleep before he could breathe a sigh of relief.
Is this what it feels like to be a dad?
He always felt worried about the children.
Perhaps out of guilt, he always worried that the children would kick off the covers in the middle of the night.
Sitting on the balcony, Ethan raised his hand and rubbed his temples.
Checking the time, he realized it was already eleven o'clock.
His phone buzzed with an incoming message from Betty.
Betty: [The Wilson Family cannot find Wilson, so they want Richard to come to Capital Hospital to donate his kidney. Don't call me, my phone will be recording soon.]
This was the message Betty sent to Ethan before she had Richard talk with Serena.
Ethan's expression became incredibly gloomy. He knew the Wilson Family was threatening Richard again.
All of this originated from May. Richard, as May's son, indeed felt guilty.
"Mitchell, Richard is at the hospital. The Wilson Family wants him to donate his kidney." Ethan called Mitchell.
"Coincidentally, you suspected May of child trafficking today, and I was worried that Richard might not be her biological son, so I was just thinking of contacting you. I want to do a paternity test for Richard and May as well." Mitchell's side of the call was accompanied by the loud sound of a racing car engine.
Seems like Mitchell is still racing.
"They're at the Capital Hospital, I'll go there first." Ethan glanced at the time. He couldn't let Richard actually donate his kidney.
If Wilson found out about this, she would be heartbroken again.
"Does Wilson know?" Mitchell asked.
"She's asleep." Ethan wouldn't involve Wilson in this matter.
He was going to meet Richard not only to have a paternity test done for Richard and May but also to ask Richard whether he knew about Joe and Justin when Wilson gave birth all those years ago.
Meanwhile, in the hospital room, Serena looked at Richard and asked, "Richard, do you hate me?"
Richard frowned and replied, "Do you think I should hate you? You used despicable means to defame me, making the Wilson Family pity you and causing everyone to feel guilty for you. And all you wanted was to get what you desired."
Serena sneered and said, "That was rightfully mine."
"Sure, Mom made a mistake, but honestly, how do you think I feel about you?" Richard was angry because Serena spread rumors and slandered him.
Furthermore, she used such serious accusations against him. "No matter what you say about me, I can endure, but when you accuse me of hurting you and use these rumors to defame me, I had loved and protected you for twenty-one years, even when you were rebellious and disobedient. How could you not know how I feel about you?"
Serena scoffed, and her eyes welled up with tears. "So what? Is your kindness towards me valuable? If I tell the Wilson Family that you have been nice to me, will they still feel guilty towards me? Are you stupid, or am I? Only when I tell them that you have treated me poorly will they treat me even better! Only then will Evan dote on me."
Because they feel guilty.
"You truly are terrible and pathetic." Richard thought Serena was beyond redemption.
"Even if I owe you something, what about Wilson? When she was replaced, she was just a baby. Why did you do such malicious things to her? You and Evan know why she was bullied that night."
Serena tightly gripped the blanket. "Even if you know, so what? Even if I seduced men to harm Wilson, who would believe you and Wilson? No one would believe you, as you come from the lower class of society. Wilson has taken over my life, and I should be the one getting attention and affection, just like her."
"Serena, I'll be honest with you. With your talent and intelligence, even if you were placed in the wealthiest family's home, you would still end up like this. You attended elite schools since you were a child, and I let you learn whatever you wanted. I dropped out of high school to earn money to put you through school, but did you go to school?" Richard was very angry.
"You're talking nonsense!" Serena was furious.
"Serena, considering our twenty-one years of relationship, I don't want to expose you, but do you really think I can't uncover your lies?" Richard clenched his hands. "I advise you to be kinder and not provoke Wilson anymore. I will go for matching, and if successful, I will save you."
"I don't want you to save me," Serena said breathlessly. "Let me tell you, Richard, I want Wilson's kidney. She owes me that, and I want it."
"You're truly insane." Richard believed Serena had gone crazy.
"Yes, that's right, she went crazy, falsely accusing you of threatening her and trying to kill her. The Wilson Family will believe me rather than you," Serena sneered, suddenly grabbing Richard and throwing everything on the table to the ground, yelling, "Help me!"
"Evan, save me!" she coughed.
Outside the door, Evan pushed Betty aside and burst in, seeing Richard standing gloomily by the window, while Serena's clothes were disheveled, and she was holding her neck, coughing.
"Evan, he's trying to strangle me! He said that as long as I'm dead, he and Wilson will be fine," Serena cried loudly, acting very convincingly.
Richard looked at Serena with complex eyes, admiring her acting skills.
"Dad, Mom, he's trying to kill me! For Wilson, he wants to kill me," Serena cried out loudly, still holding onto Evan. "Evan, I want Wilson's kidney, not his. I feel disgusted just by seeing him. Even if he gives me his kidney, I won't take it. I would rather die."
Serena was exceptionally agitated, and her weak body caused her to faint outright.
Seeing Serena pass out, Evan couldn't control his anger anymore and grabbed Richard by his collar, punching him.
Betty immediately kicked Evan, pushing him away. "Evan, did you get my permission before hitting him?"
"You're still defending him? You saw everything this time!" Evan angrily looked at Betty.
"What did I see? Serena's acting?" Betty laughed, taking out Richard's phone from his pocket, which was still recording, and paused it, saving the recording.
"Ethan, what are you doing here?" Benjamin furrowed his eyebrows and asked.
Ethan didn't say anything, walking toward the entrance of the hospital room.
"Now that everyone is here let's listen together." Betty played the recording.
Richard was surprised, unaware that Betty had put the phone in his pocket.
In the recording, Serena's words could be clearly heard.
It was Serena who falsely accused Richard, and Serena and Evan deliberately harmed Wilson six years ago.
At the end of the recording, they also heard Serena's scream.
Ethan's expression filled with anger.
"So, it was you and Serena who bullied Wilson in the hotel six years ago," Ethan's voice was icy as he looked at Evan. "You better explain this to me clearly."
Evan had difficulty breathing and instinctively turned to look at Serena, who was already unconscious. He glanced at Ethan and clenched his fists, saying, "No, that incident years ago, I just..."
Evan felt guilty; he never actually wanted to harm Wilson. "I just wanted Wilson to return everything to Serena, including her fiancé, Daniel. So, I just found someone to take a picture with her. I didn't actually hurt Wilson; someone went into the wrong room!"
"So, you drugged Wilson's drink, then threw her into the room! And you were outside the room knowing someone had entered by mistake, and you hurt Wilson inside the room, ignoring her cries, just coldly watching everything unfold! You did all this to make Daniel see it, to make Daniel misunderstand Wilson and cancel their engagement!" Ethan's voice was low, and he was about to lose control of his emotions.
"I didn't expect her to actually be harmed and get pregnant," Evan still had some conscience; at least he didn't continue to argue.
Daniel, who was called by Ethan, stood at the door outside the hospital room, listening clearly.
