Chapter 734 Lily Wants to Kill Jasmine Ethan

On the way home, Jasmine looked at Ethan, wanting to speak several times but stopping herself.

Ethan, who had his eyes closed, opened them and smiled. "Got something to say?"

"Are you hiding something from me?" Jasmine asked softly.

Ethan chuckled and pulled Jasmine into his arms. "Why do you say that?"

"Even I am suspicious of Bradley, but you chose to trust him. You're not stupid," Jasmine said.

This wasn't Ethan's usual behavior.

"Even if something happened to you, you could've had the Raymond Group help the Douglas family, but you didn't. Bradley schemed against the Douglas Group. It seems irreparable, but with effort, it's not impossible. Instead, you chose to hollow out the Douglas family from within." Jasmine knew this wasn't just her imagination.

Everyone knew Ethan's abilities. His sudden weakness and the time he spent in a coma served as a perfect cover.

He trusted Bradley, or rather, he let Bradley do as he pleased.

What exactly was he doing? What did he want to do?

"I thought the Douglas family was very important to you, something left by your grandfather and your mother, so I tried so hard to protect it," Jasmine said.

"Before anything happened, I thought so too. My grandfather and my mom left the Douglas Group to me. Even if it wasn't important, I wouldn't let anyone covet what's mine. The Douglas Group must always bear the Douglas name." Ethan had been stubborn too. "But then I thought, why am I so obsessed with keeping the Douglas Group as the Douglas Group? Changing the name doesn't make a difference. What my mom left me was never just the name of the Douglas Group."

Hollowing out the Douglas Group and changing its name would still leave him with the foundation his mother left, something she could be proud of.

What his grandfather left was the name of the Douglas Group, the continued glory of this so-called century-old enterprise.

"No matter what you do, I will support you." Jasmine tightly held Ethan's hand. "I know Bradley and Vincent have someone behind them, the one controlling the Powell family and Lily."

The person who played the role of the mastermind to perfection.

Mark thought he had it all figured out, using illegitimate children to scheme. He believed that once he took over the Douglas Group, he could use them to create his own business empire.

Unfortunately, Mark didn't realize there was someone behind him.

"Ethan, you figured it out, didn't you?" Jasmine couldn't guess who the person behind it all was, but Ethan might have.

Ethan lowered his eyes and was silent for a long time before speaking, "I'm not entirely sure yet."

He didn't dare to be certain who the person behind it all was.

"Whoever it is, they killed Emily. I won't let them off easily." Jasmine tightly held Ethan's hand.

Ethan nodded. "We will catch them."

Tom came back with a bunch of groceries, looking at Connor, who had come home early.

"The workaholic is home early?" Tom asked smugly.

"You got off work pretty early too." Connor's face was heavy, an indescribable fatigue.

"You have no idea, the Douglas Group was lively today," Tom whispered. "Did you know, Mark is actually William Douglas's son, and the son of the first wife at that."

Connor sighed; of course, he knew.

"And then, Mark thought he was pretty clever, scheming everything. But he didn't expect to be outsmarted by that Bradley. Bradley is the real expert." Tom looked shocked. "What kind of brains do these people have? If it were me, I wouldn't last three days."

Connor chuckled at Tom, speaking meaningfully, "Good thing you're an idiot."

Tom frowned. "Who are you calling an idiot?"

Connor just looked at Tom. "If one day you found out that someone you cared about did something illegal, would you personally send them to jail?"

Tom was stunned, looking at Connor in shock. "What did you do? Did you kill someone?"

Connor took a deep breath and rubbed his temples.

Tom was scared, thinking Connor might actually do something like that, and quickly walked over. "No, did you really kill someone?"

"Get lost!" Connor cursed, thinking to himself that being an idiot wasn't so bad; fools have their own kind of luck.

Tom grumbled as he went to the kitchen to cook, still wondering if Connor had done something wrong.

"If you really did something illegal, I advise you to turn yourself in," Tom said earnestly. "If it's the death penalty, just pretend I didn't say anything. You figure it out."

Connor glanced at Tom and laughed. "I asked you, if someone you cared about committed a crime, why do you keep thinking it's me? We're not that close, are we?"

Tom was also stunned, looking up at Connor. "I didn't overthink. I thought you broke the law."

Connor leaned back in his chair, looking out the window. "Tom, your mom still won't let you go home?"

"Don't mention it. It makes me angry. I didn't do anything that bad, but my mom still won't let me go home. She kicked me out, made me stay with my cousin, and my cousin dumped me on you."

Tom couldn't understand it.

Connor chuckled, speaking meaningfully, "Your mom is pretty smart. She's saving you. Being a bodyguard for Jasmine isn't bad, and the pay isn't low."

Tom nodded. "I was pretty resistant to the job at first."

Tom wanted to brag but thought better of it. "But later, I found it quite interesting."

Connor just chuckled. "Maybe it's the law of opposites. Your parents are both smart, but they had a fool like you."

Connor thought, 'Being a fool has its advantages.'

Tom was a bit unhappy. "Connor, I came home early to cook for you. Don't be ungrateful."

Connor didn't say anything. The fool was angry.

Jasmine had just returned home when an uninvited guest arrived.

The person didn't contact them beforehand but came directly to their home, which was quite presumptuous.

Vincent wasn't here today. After Bradley was exposed, he knew he couldn't stay by Jasmine's side anymore.

"Amara, coming directly to our home seems a bit impolite," Ethan said in a deep voice.

When Amara controlled the Powell family before, she hadn't cooperated with Ethan.

"I know you both have some misunderstandings about me, but I think we can cooperate now." Amara smiled. "Lily took the Powell family by using the child, used you, but chose to cooperate with Bradley. That's betrayal."

Jasmine glanced at Ethan, having guessed that Amara might come.

"Lily has also guessed that you would go after her because of Emily, so she tried to kill you in Kerea. The reason you were able to leave the airport safely, I think you should have guessed that I was helping from behind, right?" Amara smiled as she spoke, clearly here to claim a favor.
