Chapter 885 Hestia Thinks Edgar Is a Bad Person
The news of Edgar and Lyanna moving in together was exposed by the media.
Soon, the news of Edgar and Lyanna meeting at a hotel at night was also revealed.
The news of the third heir of the Cunningham Group and the heiress of the Murray family getting married spread like wildfire.
The Murray family intended to hype it up, and the news remained hot. Rhett was clearly creating a buzz, making sure everyone in Silverlight City knew about the union between the Murray family and the Cunningham family.
"What's wrong with you? Avery has only been in prison for a short time, and you've already moved on!" Edward hadn't seen Edgar for a long time.
"You haven't been home lately, and I thought you were working hard. Turns out you've reverted to your old ways and started messing around again." Edward frowned, feeling troubled.
Nolan had surgery scheduled for next week, and Edward was worried about both Nolan and Edgar, feeling exhausted. Being the second child in the family was indeed the most unfortunate thing.
It was too difficult for him.
Edgar opened his mouth but didn't explain. Jasmine had said that the fewer people who knew about this, the better. Afraid of letting something slip, he decided not to tell anyone.
"Avery didn't want me first, and besides, she's married now. Why should I stay loyal to her?" Edgar boasted.
Edward frowned. "The Murrays clearly planned this. The online frenzy continues unabated—look what you've done! If you don't marry Lyanna, the entire Cunningham family will suffer the consequences."
Sighing, Edward decided not to interfere. Edgar was an adult, and as his older brother, he couldn't control him anymore.
Besides, Edgar was just reverting to his old ways from a few years ago. Let him be.
Edgar didn't speak, looking up at the ceiling, wondering if Avery was cold, hungry, or having a hard time in prison.
He was very worried.
He even wished he could take her place.
"Let's discuss something. I'm going on a business trip tomorrow, and you need to handle the company for three to five days." Edward checked the time; he had to go to Kerea because there were some issues with a project and cooperation there.
The Powell family used to have some cooperation with the Cunningham Group, but recently, the Powell family had been causing trouble for various reasons, making Edward very angry.
He had to go there personally to see what was going on.
"Can I just slack off?" Edgar asked pitifully.
"Nolan's condition is very bad. The surgery is next week. I'm exhausted. Can you be a bit more responsible?" Edward rubbed his temples.
Being the second child in the family was tough.
Edgar was stunned for a moment and lowered his head in guilt.
"I understand." He couldn't be like before. If Nolan died, he would have to help Edward support the family, protect Jasmine and Cordelia, and take care of the family.
Edward nodded. "You're capable, but you lack experience. Since Nolan isn't managing the company, you should gain some experience there."
Edgar nodded. "Got it."
"If you truly love Avery, you should work hard, wait patiently for her release, and let her see how much you've changed. Then, perhaps she'll reconsider." Edward patted Edgar's shoulder.
Edgar didn't speak.
Edward left, and Edgar called Raymond, asking him to use his connections to take care of Avery in prison.
That was all he could do for now.
Vacation Villa.
With the surgery scheduled for next week, Nolan brought Amelia to the vacation villa that Cordelia had given to Edward.
The scenery here was really beautiful, with a seaside view, a private beach, and a private pool, making it perfect for vacation and relaxation.
Amelia clearly loved it here. As soon as they settled in, she happily went to the beach to collect shells.
Nolan sat on a swing by the sea, watching Amelia run around on the beach, smiling indulgently.
"Run slowly, be careful of your feet, don't hurt yourself." Nolan felt like he always had endless worries.
Amelia happily collected shells and excitedly ran to Nolan with a purple shell. "Look, it's a purple shell. Purple is my lucky color. Finding a purple shell means we'll always have good luck.
Your surgery will definitely be successful. You'll get better, and you'll always be with me and the baby." She whispered, hugging Nolan tightly.
Since they had completely opened up to each other, Amelia had become very clingy to Nolan again.
She even went to the kitchen to cook for Nolan herself.
Nolan felt guilty. Every time he brought it up, Amelia would change the subject.
"Nolan, it's just a minor surgery, don't be afraid." Amelia comforted Nolan thoughtfully.
Nolan looked helpless. He wasn't afraid of the surgery; he was just afraid that Amelia would suddenly find out the truth one day.
"Don't be afraid." Amelia hugged him.
Nolan sighed. He decided to enjoy the good days for now.
The Cunningham Group.
Edgar had just finished a meeting when his assistant told him that today was the final interview for the legal department interns, and the president of the Cunningham Group had to attend personally.
With Edward on a business trip, Edgar had to go.
The legal department interns were all waiting the meeting room.
Hestia was also there.
Primrose was dressed flamboyantly, with exquisite makeup and a semi-transparent dress, sitting confidently.
Edgar walked into the meeting room very seriously, and upon seeing Hestia, he turned and left in fright.
Everyone else was curious about what was going on with Edgar.
However, he ran out to call Edward.
"Edward, your wife is interning in the legal department, and today is the final assessment!" Edgar whispered.
Edward laughed. "Just assess her fairly and impartially."
"No need to help her?" Edgar asked quietly.
"My wife doesn't need it." Edward was confident.
Edgar responded with an "oh," took a deep breath, and decided to leave a good impression on Edward's wife, who he had tricked into marrying him.
After hanging up, Edgar returned to the meeting room.
"Mr. Cunningham, these are the comprehensive assessment results for the interns." Marlon handed the results to Edgar.
Edgar reviewed them. Hestia had excellent scores in all aspects, but her peer evaluation score was very low.
Primrose, on the other hand, had a high score in this area.
"Mr. Cunningham, I'm Primrose Wells. My dad is..." Primrose began to mention her father.
But Edgar interrupted her. "You only need to introduce yourself, not your father. He's not coming to work here."
Primrose's face turned a bit ugly, but she quickly adjusted herself and answered Edgar's questions.
"Tell me, what's your view on workplace sexual harassment?" Edgar looked at Primrose.
This question stunned Primrose.
They were indeed in the legal department, but she hadn't expected this question.
"I think it should be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. If... the leader is just being caring and friendly, I don't think it's necessary to make a big deal out of it and affect the company's reputation." Primrose answered from the company's perspective.
"So, if I sexually harass you, you would agree?" Edgar asked, resting his chin on his hand.
The interns were all shocked, and Hestia almost choked.
Was the president of the Cunningham Group really this capricious? Edgar didn't seem like a good person. She would have to keep Edward away from him, so he wouldn't be led astray.
