Chapter 291 Wilson Finds Out That Joe is Her Son
Edgar looked innocent, unsure of what was going on with Edward today. He felt that Edward's state was odd.
"Edward," Cordelia called out with a serious expression at the door of the study.
Edward nodded and walked over.
"Annabelle has returned to the Harper Family," Cordelia stated calmly.
Edward entered the study and handed the evidence he had gathered to Cordelia. "The account that was used to send money to the nurse's son in Westing Town Hospital can be traced back to this person named Jack Brilliance. And it's confirmed that Jack is indeed associated with Sophia."
Cordelia's eyes grew darker. "Sophia, she's seeking death."
"We currently don't have direct evidence to prove that she's behind all of this. Sophia has set a big trap, and we can't let her become suspicious. Annabelle is the cover we can use for now," Edward reassured Cordelia.
Annabelle was being used as a pawn by the other side, but she could also serve as the shield for the true heiress of the Cunningham Family. They couldn't expose Annabelle's true identity yet, or Cordelia's biological daughter would be in danger.
"And there's one more thing, Mom, please don't get too emotional," Edward said as he handed Cordelia an old photo. The photo depicted May and Sophia, the two sisters, together.
"That wicked woman," Cordelia couldn't help but tremble at the sight of Sophia.
"Mom, the other woman in this photo is May, Sophia's older sister," Edward whispered.
Cordelia was briefly stunned before carefully examining the photo.
May!?
"This woman is the one who caused a scene at the banquet today, claiming that Annabelle isn't my biological daughter, and she ended up getting hit by a car." Despite May looking much older now, Cordelia immediately recognized her.
"Wilson is her daughter," Edward said, helping Cordelia sit down. "Mom, your suspicion may be correct. Your intuition is always right, and I also suspect that Wilson is my biological sister."
Cordelia sat on the couch, trembling as she held the photo, covering her mouth and tears welling up in her eyes.
"How could such a vulgar family produce such a wonderful girl like Wilson? It's obvious that Wilson is my daughter! I've known it all along, from the moment I first saw her," Cordelia choked out, crying.
Edward's eyes darkened as he embraced Cordelia to comfort her. "We are getting closer to the truth, Mom. If Sophia truly caused my sister to suffer all these years, she and Willian will pay the price."
Cordelia nervously grasped Edward's wrist. "Edward, I want to see Wilson. I need to see her."
Cordelia's voice choked with emotion. In that moment, she longed to see Wilson so desperately.
When she made the decision to give the jewelry to Wilson, she had already accepted her as her daughter. She even thought, that even if Wilson is not her biological daughter, if her own daughter cannot be found, as long as Wilson is willing, then Wilson would be her daughter.
"Mom, even if you want to see her so badly, you must hold back for now. Willian and Sophia are both in Silverlight City, and many people are watching you. For Wilson's well-being, you can't see her now. You have to listen to me and keep your distance from Wilson, and not show any emotions toward her," Edward said, fearing that Sophia would harm Wilson to prevent future troubles.
Cordelia was extremely anxious, covering her face and crying for a long time.
As a mother, she truly missed her daughter.
She was the precious baby she had given birth to, the little princess of their family who should have been showered with love and affection.
But she ended up with May, suffering grievance and pain.
How could she not hate May?!
Edward tightly clenched his fists, silently watching his mother.
Over these years, she had endured so much suffering, and the root cause of it all was Willian.
Their biological father.
He was a despicable bastard.
"Mom, if you feel like crying, just let it out. I will discreetly arrange for you and Wilson to have a paternity test. But for now, you must keep it a secret, don't tell anyone. Edgar and Nolan can't hide their emotions, so we can't tell them for now. I will reach out to Ethan," Edward planned to meet with Ethan.
If Wilson really was his sister, then he also had to remind Ethan to pay attention to this matter.
Sophia had returned, and Annabelle had successfully ‘infiltrated’ the Cunningham Family. Their next step was to target the Cunningham Family's shares and Cordelia's assets.
At this moment, if Sophia went crazy and attacked Wilson, Ethan had to be alert and protect Wilson.
As Wilson's husband, this was his duty.
In the rental house, Wilson was too tired to move. She leaned on the bed and drank the warm water that Ethan handed to him.
"Ethan, you said you would tell me about Joe, what happened to Joe?" Wilson was a bit nervous, but she already had some suspicions in her heart.
"Do you believe in the bond between a mother and a child?" Ethan sat on the edge of the bed and told Wilson very seriously.
Wilson tightened his grip on the water cup and nodded.
"I did a paternity test, and Joe is also our son. It means that when you gave birth, you had fraternal twins." Ethan held Wilson's hand tightly, signaling her not to get too excited.
Wilson hadn't reacted yet, so she hadn't had a chance to get excited.
After a while, she finally reacted, her breathing trembling.
Wilson put down the water cup and held Ethan's hand tightly. "Is what you said true?"
"Yeah, May lied to you. She deceived you." Ethan nodded.
Wilson's eyes instantly turned red, and her voice started to tremble. "No, it's impossible. Richard was also there, Richard was waiting outside for me."
Wilson trusted Richard.
"At that time, Joe was born with a severe congenital heart disease. Because he was premature, his body was dark purple and he didn't cry or move. May deceived Richard, saying that the child had died, probably thinking that a sick child would only be a burden. She wanted to throw the child away, but she didn't expect the child to survive."
Ethan frowned. "I don't understand how the child ended up in the Cunningham Family by accident."
Perhaps only May knew the truth of this matter.
But May had her death announced to the public, and only he and the police knew that May was still in a coma.
They could only wait for May to wake up to find out the truth.
Wilson held Ethan's arm tightly, crying out excitedly, "Joe… Joe is also our son."
Ethan held Wilson in his arms and whispered in a soothing voice, "I'm sorry, it's my fault, I came late."
Wilson and the two children had suffered so much.
Luckily, Joe was fortunate enough to meet the Cunningham Family.
Although Edgar seemed unreliable, it was clear that he was kind-hearted and had treated Joe well.
"I have two sons," Wilson finally accepted this fact after a long pause.
"I suspect that things are not as simple as they seem. You are neither May's daughter nor the Wilson Residence's daughter. There must be a bigger conspiracy behind this. We shouldn't reveal this for now. It's to protect Joe. After I figure it out, I will not let those who hurt you get away."
Ethan frowned, his gaze becoming darker.
He now suspected that Wilson's true identity was the real heiress of the Cunningham Family.
But the Cunningham Family was currently too chaotic internally, and he didn't want Wilson to take any risks.
They still needed to be cautious and stay vigilant.
