Chapter 515 Lisa Has Changed a lot
Arnold hesitated.
"Arnold, despite your conflicts with Sophia, the kids are innocent," Cordelia said. "How about dinner tonight? I'll have Jasmine invite Richard and his wife, Betty."
"Betty?" Arnold was taken aback. The name brought back memories.
He had met Richard at Howard's birthday party.
At the Cunningham house, Justin, Joe, and Casey were there. The place was chaotic with kids but lively.
"Justin, these are cranberry bear cookies my mom made. She asked me to bring them to you," Casey said, happily munching on a burnt cookie.
Casey was thrilled because his mom had changed.
She spent more time at home, moved to a new house, learned to cook, and made desserts for him. She even did crafts with him. Mom was improving.
Even though her cooking was bad and the cookies were burnt, Casey thought they were the best.
Dad seemed different too.
Before, Casey was happy to see his dad once a month. Lately, Dad had been visiting their new home often. He still looked grumpy, but it seemed like Mom and Dad had agreed to spend time with him, play games, go to preschool, and do crafts together.
Even though Dad was clumsy.
Even though Dad looked reluctant, he showed up every week.
"Your mom's cookies are burnt," Joe sighed. "Will these give us a stomachache?"
Justin, always indulging Casey, said nothing, took a cookie, bit into it, and nodded. "It's delicious."
Casey's eyes lit up, and he hugged Justin and kissed him. "Casey likes Justin the most. When Justin has a little sister, I want to marry her."
"In your dreams," Joe said, rolling his eyes.
If Mom had a daughter, she would be the family's treasure.
Casey thought he could win her over with a box of cookies. No way.
Justin, munching on a cookie, asked, "Casey, are your mom and dad picking you up together?"
Casey nodded happily. "Yes, both Mom and Dad!"
Justin was surprised. "Your mom and dad, together?"
He rarely saw Casey's parents together.
Outside, Jordan drove to pick up Casey with Lisa.
He still looked reluctant.
"Smile more at the kid," Lisa sighed. "We agreed that if you cooperate for six months, I'll divorce you. Can't you just be a good dad for six months? I'm not asking you to be a good husband."
Jordan snorted, thinking Lisa's behavior was an act.
He didn't know who gave her the "good mom" idea, but she had kept it up for a while.
If he hadn't known her before, he might have been fooled.
"And for both families' reputations, avoid scandals with other women before the divorce. Otherwise, It will be awkward, and I won't be able to explain to my dad," Lisa said earnestly. She really wanted the divorce.
"Are you threatening me?" Jordan frowned.
She hadn't changed at all.
"No," Lisa sighed. "Forget it. Think what you want. I'm just giving you some advice."
Jordan's messy relationships and constant rumors would be a disaster if they divorced. She wasn't scared, but the Taylor family would be affected.
"Tomorrow is Casey's birthday. Can you come? I promised Casey you would." Lisa looked at Jordan nervously, probably because she still loved him, so she was as humble as ever.
Her love was so humble that she habitually used toughness to cover it.
Clearly humble to the core, yet still self-righteous.
Jordan frowned, feeling Lisa was pushing her luck. "I'll see."
"After we divorce, you won't be able to spend Casey's birthdays with him. Just consider this the last one, okay?" Lisa looked at Jordan nervously.
"Got it, you're so annoying." Jordan got out of the car, slamming the door.
Lisa smiled bitterly. For her son's sake, she would endure for now.
She had indeed used too many tricks and schemes on Jordan before.
"Dad! Mom!" Casey had been waiting for his parents for a long time. Seeing them together, he was so happy he almost flew.
Running into Jordan's arms, Casey happily rubbed his head against his dad. "Dad, you came to pick me up."
Jordan looked at the child in his arms, his eyes softening for a moment. He squatted down and picked Casey up, his voice gentle. "Yes, to take you home."
"Dad, tomorrow is my birthday. Mom said we would make a small cake together. Will you join us?" Casey looked at Jordan expectantly.
Jordan glared at Lisa.
These were all things she taught the child to say.
Just to keep him, using every trick in the book, just like before.
"Lisa, I thought you had improved, but you're still the same."
Before, Lisa had even deliberately made Casey catch a cold or pretend to be sick to trick him into coming home.
He had heard it all before and was numb to it, no longer believing it.
"Dad." Casey's voice choked.
"I'll come after work tomorrow." Jordan still agreed.
Casey clapped his hands happily and hugged Jordan. "Mom, can I invite Justin and Joe to my birthday party tomorrow?"
Lisa smiled. "Sure."
Just then, Jasmine and Ethan's car pulled up nearby. Ethan's face changed instantly when he saw Jordan, frowning. "What are you doing here?"
Jordan snorted and ignored Ethan.
Even though Ethan had been expelled from the Douglas family, Jordan still feared him deep down.
"Ethan," Lisa called out awkwardly.
"Tomorrow is Casey's birthday. How are you planning to celebrate?" Ethan asked.
Jasmine had reminded him on the way.
Because Justin had been thinking about getting a gift for Casey a few days ago.
Lisa was a bit surprised that Ethan remembered Casey's birthday. She was touched and a bit flustered. "Just a simple party at home."
"Then I'll bring Justin and Joe over tomorrow." Ethan nodded.
"Is Jasmine coming?" Lisa asked softly, feeling guilty towards Jasmine and not daring to look her in the eye.
