Chapter 876 Raymond's Ploy, Genevieve's Melodrama

The Douglas Mansion.

Casey was asleep, but Lisa couldn't sleep and sat in the yard.

She was a bit worried about Raymond. Today, Jordan met Zander and definitely talked nonsense.

She didn't know if Zander would be angry.

Taking out her phone, Lisa thought for a long time and decided to send Raymond a message: [What are you doing?]

But Raymond didn't reply for a long time..

That night, Lisa had insomnia.

Raymond would never not reply to her messages, she didn't know what had happened.

With red eyes, Lisa buried her head in the pillow.

She didn't even dare to cry out loud, feeling she didn't have the right.

That night, Lisa thought of her childhood.

She remembered that before she was a teenager, she, Daniel, and Claire all lived in a rented house in the slums.

Claire was beautiful but came from a poor background, from a small family in a village in Boston. When she came to Silverlight City, she had no relatives, no money, and could only live in a demolition area.

The rent there was cheap, but it was extremely dirty and messy, with all kinds of people doing business.

Ever since Lisa cxould remember, those people have been calling her a bastard, saying her mother was loose, and she was no better.

Lisa and Daniel were used to being bullied in those places and slowly learned to fight back.

Daniel would protect her, getting into fights with those people, coming home battered and bruised, pretending like nothing happened before going home.

In the past, they were once pure, upright, and kind.

Daniel was once innocent, feeling sorry for stray dogs and feeding stray cats.

He would even rush to help if he saw someone bullying a little girl on the roadside.

They once lived in poverty but were also pure.

But one day, a car worth millions of dollars stopped in the narrow alley and took their mother Claire away.

Lisa would always remember that Claire wore a purple-red dress that day, with delicate makeup and a very happy smile.

She said, "Lisa, David, from now on, you are children of a wealthy family. No one will bully you anymore. You are high-class people now, only allowed to bully others, never to be bullied."

Lisa watched Claire leave in confusion.

That departure lasted more than half a month.

That half month was the last time Lisa and Daniel were pure.

Half a month later, Howard's assistant Mark came to take Lisa and Daniel away.

He told Lisa that, the Douglas family was their home, they were Howard's children, the young master and young lady of the Douglas family.

From that day on, everything changed.

Children who were used to hardship and poverty would try harder than ordinary people to keep everything they had once they got benefits.

She was like that, and so was Daniel.

Because they had lived poorly and were called the children of a mistress, Lisa and Daniel were inherently insecure.

They tried desperately to prove themselves, just to keep their current glory and status.

They were afraid of being disliked by Howard, afraid of being kicked out of the house by Howard.

As the older sister, Lisa had to work hard. To protect Daniel, she had to play with those those socialites, and integrate into their circle.

But how could she, who had just started to integrate, accept the extravagant life of those rich girls?

Slowly, she found that as long as she was superior, arrogant and profligate, she could fit in.

She enjoyed this life too much, being praised wherever she went.

She was the young lady of the Douglas family, no longer the little girl from the slums.

Glory and wealth blinded her once pure heart.

But she was just an ordinary person.

She just wanted to desperately keep everything she had now.

The next morning, Lisa was woken up by a call from Ethan.

Since returning to the Douglas family, Lisa felt that Ethan didn't like her and Daniel. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get Ethan to accept her.

But unexpectedly, Ethan eventually accepted her.

And he did better than she imagined.

"Ethan," Lisa called out sleepily.

"I'm here to pick up Casey for school. You didn't forget to wake him up, did you?" Ethan was speechless.

Lisa was stunned for a moment, then suddenly sat up and ran out in a panic. "Ethan, I forgot!"

She forgot that Casey had to go to school today.

She quickly rushed into Casey's room, pulled the still-sleeping Casey up, dressed him, put on his backpack, and brought him out.

Justin stood in the living room, laughing. "Casey, your pants are on backward."

Casey looked down, sleepily looking at Lisa.

Lisa smiled and turned his pants around. "Mom's fault, Mom forgot you had to go to school today."

"From now on, Casey will stay with me. You can visit him whenever you want," Ethan said helplessly, lifting Casey by the back of his shirt so Lisacould fix his pants.

The two cooperated seamlessly.

"Thank you, Ethan," Lisa smiled at Ethan.

Ethan was really amused by Lisa, helplessly picking up Casey. "You, as a mom, should hurry up and find a boyfriend. I heard Mr. Long put Raymond in the hospital. You should go check on him. I'll visit Mr. Long after I finish my work today."

Lisa was stunned, her heart tightened. Raymond was in the hospital?

"Ethan," Lisa was a bit nervous, her voice choked up. "I know the Long family won't let me marry Raymond, I..."

"It's not about you, don't overthink it. I'll test the waters first," Ethan said, putting Casey in the car, and Justin handed him breakfast.

Lisa nodded gratefully. After Ethan left, she hurriedly prepared to go to the hospital.

No wonder Raymond didn't reply last night.

Capital Hospital.

Zander originally wanted to hit Raymond a couple of times to vent his anger, but he didn't know Raymond was already seriously injured. His hit directly knocked Raymond out, and the almost-healed car accident wounds reopened, bleeding all over the place, soaking his shirt. It scared the hell out of Zander, thinking he had killed Raymond with one hit.

At that moment, Zander regretted it so much that his heart almost jumped out. If he had known that, he would have let Raymond marry whoever he wanted.

And Raymond did it on purpose.

Others might not know, but as soon as Ethan heard Raymond was in the hospital, he understood it was a ploy.

Raymond probably deliberately provoked Zander, making Zander hit him, aiming at his wounds on purpose.

This made Zander feel guilty, making it easier to negotiate later.

In the ward.

Raymond lay on the hospital bed, looking like he was about to die. "Grandpa, you can kill me, but I will marry Lisa even if I die."

Zander's hand trembled with anger, picking up the stick to hit him again but couldn't bring himself to do it.

Raymond's mother, Genevieve Ashbourne, heard that Zander had put Raymond in the hospital and rushed into the ward, crying. "My poor child! Your grandpa was too harsh. He wants to kill my son. What did my son do wrong to deserve this?"

Genevieve used to be a stage actress. After receiving Raymond's distress call, she came to act, but her performance was a bit exaggerated, almost making Raymond break character.

Zander said angrily, "He could have married anyone, but he wants to chose a divorced woman with a child."

"So what if she's divorced with a child? I'm just happy he found a woman. A few years ago, he even brought a boyfriend home. I didn't dare tell you because of your heart condition," Genevieve said exaggeratedly.

Zander immediately stood up, pointing at Raymond. "Don't you dare bring a man home!"

In comparison, Zander felt it wasn't so unacceptable for Raymond to marry Lisa.
