Chapter 348 Daniel Almost Strangled Annabelle.
The Cunningham Group.
It was two o'clock in the morning, and Nolan was still in a meeting to reorganize the company.
The project manager, trembling, looked at the monitor screen nervously and spoke up,"Mr.Nolan, I just asked Jasmine to get some paper downstairs. I didn't mean to..."
"I had no idea the warehouse supervisor would leave early, disregarding Jasmine's well-being." The project manager began to shift the blame.
"You are shameless. It was you who told me that she was stealing the limelight from your project department, asked me to deal with her, and locked her in the warehouse, and now you say it's not your fault!" the warehouse supervisor said angrily.
Nolan looked at them with cold eyes and tapped the table. "You locked her in the warehouse just because she stole the spotlight from your department?"
The project manager turned pale. "Nolan, it was really just a prank; we didn't know it would cause such a big problem; we didn't know she had a mental illness."
Nolan slammed the table in anger and stood up. "This is a crime! No one can save you. You better tell the truth, or I'll hand you over to the police right now."
The manager panicked and approached Nolan, trying to plead. "Nolan, Nolan, considering all the hard work I've put in for the Cunningham Group over the years, please spare me this time."
"Tell the truth." Nolan spoke calmly but with a strong sense of authority.
He didn't believe the project manager was trying to teach Jasmine a lesson by having her locked in the basement.
Nor did he believe it was a coincidence that she had psychological trauma and would be seriously harmed in a dark environment.
"I was just playing a prank." the manager insisted.
"You show no remorse. Secretary, call the police." Nolan lost patience and instructed the secretary to call the police.
"Nolan, I was wrong. Please don't call the police, don't hand me over to them, I beg you." The project manager cried and pleaded with him. "It was a friend of mine. She's the heiress of MooFresh Dairy Co, named Caitlin. She found me today and asked me to cause trouble for Jasmine locking her in the basement."
The manager was in tears. "Nolan, I'm telling the truth. She asked me to lock Jasmine in the basement for just one night. Nothing serious was supposed to happen. She didn't tell me Jasmine had a serious mental illness. I really didn't know."
Nolan frowned and looked at the secretary. "Check the heiress of MooFresh Dairy Co, Caitlin."
The secretary nodded.
Nolan still called the police, and they were waiting outside, ready to take the project manager and the warehouse supervisor away.
Sitting in his chair, he looked very grim.
Jasmine had offended many people.
But those who dared to provoke her at the Cunningham Group had truly crossed the line!
His phone rang, and he glanced at it. It was Annabelle calling at this late hour.
Daniel's residence.
Annabelle lived with Daniel, and she was worried that tomorrow would not go smoothly. The only person she could get information from was Nolan.
She needed to make sure something had happened to Jasmine before planning further.
They were going to Maple Grove tomorrow. Karen agreed to go with her to meet Alex. If Jasmine didn't show up, Alex would surely hand over the collaboration to Karen out of respect for her.
"Nolan, I heard something happened at the company. I can't sleep, and I just wanted to ask you what's going on." Annabelle looked worried.
On the other line, he sounded tired, too. "Someone played a prank and locked Jasmine in the basement. She has a serious mental trauma and struggles to breathe in the dark. She's unconscious now and still being resuscitated; she hasn't woken up."
His voice carried guilt and regret; he had no idea things would escalate to this extent.
Coco cried for a long time and wouldn't let him go home, so he might have to stay at a hotel that night.
Annabelle smirked slightly, feeling joy..
But she kept her voice low. "Jasmine had an accident... Oh my, how could this happen."
"Let's wait for news from the hospital. Don't worry too much, get some rest." Nolan tried to reassure Annabelle.
"You should rest well, too; it's late." She was pleased that at least Nolan truly trusted her at the Cunningham Group, where she could extract some useful information from him.
"Okay."
After hanging up, she hummed a tune excitedly.
Daniel came out of the bedroom and saw Annabelle still awake and humming a tune in the middle of the night, feeling annoyed. "Why aren't you sleeping at this late hour, humming a tune."
She sneered, looking at Daniel with disdain, growing more irritated as she looked at him. "Daniel, we've been married for so long, still living separately, never even touched each other. What right do you have to ask me whether I sleep or not in the middle of the night?"
He frowned, took a sip of water, and ignored her.
"Daniel, do you have erectile dysfunction? Your mother wants me to have a child soon; we haven't even touched each other; how can we have a child?" She was in a good mood and indeed wanted to deepen the bond with the Douglas family, so having a child with him was necessary.
Reaching out to hug him, her voice husky. "Daniel, even though we have our own needs, you have to satisfy my physical needs, right?"
He looked displeased, with his brows furrowed.
Her fingers lightly slid into his robe and moved downwards.
She touched for a while, but he showed no reaction.
She was angry. "Daniel, are you really sick?"
He pushed her away. "Can't you see? I have no desire for you."
Her fingers were shaking with anger. "We are husband and wife, and you ask me to find other men."
He ignored her. He never considered himself and Her as husband and wife.
He had no desire for her either.
"Daniel, are you a man?" She was still hysterical.
He remained indifferent.
"In your eyes, do you only desire Jasmine? Let me tell you, she's Ethan's woman because of you and Evan; she's been messed around by many men; everyone has slept with her except you; it's pathetic." She was furious and deliberately provoking him.
His steps froze, glaring at her with anger. "Are you asking for trouble?"
She continued angrily, "She should be in Ethan's arms right now. They must have just finished making love, the one whom you obsess over, making love with other men."
Before she could finish her sentence, he grabbed her by the neck.
Unable to breathe, she panicked and slapped his hand. "Let go of me!"
"Annabelle, don't provoke me again. If you mention Jasmine again, I won't be gentle with you." He regained his senses, threw her to the ground, and rushed back to the room.
She truly provoked him.
It took her a long time to calm down. "Daniel, you're a bastard!"
