Chapter 465 Jasmine Felt a Crisis and Got Married Again

The next morning, Jasmine woke up naturally since there were no classes.

Ethan had to get up early for a meeting with the new director, Deborah, but he took the day off. Nothing was more important than getting the marriage certificate with Jasmine.

"Time to get up," Ethan said, dressed to the nines, even holding a white dress for her.

Jasmine's dress had a scarf that matched Ethan's tie perfectly. He'd really paid attention to the details.

Jasmine was a bit surprised; she thought Ethan had no fashion sense, but he wasn't entirely clueless.

"The courthouse is open," Ethan said, a bit impatient.

Jasmine smiled. "Let me have breakfast first."

To match Ethan's enthusiasm, Jasmine put on beautiful makeup. She looked stunning in her dress.

After freshening up, Jasmine walked out to the living room and was surprised to see the floor covered with white rose petals from the bedroom door to the dining table.

"We've already gotten married once," Jasmine said with a helpless smile. "No need to go all out."

Ethan hugged her. "Last time was for a purpose. Even though the agreement is void, it still feels like something's missing."

This time, they were getting married out of true love.

Jasmine hugged him back. "This time, it's you who proposed, too."

Ethan led her to the dining table. There was breakfast, flowers, and desserts.

Ethan had done a lot of work early in the morning.

Picking up a dessert, Jasmine found a delicate jewelry box. Inside was a valuable-looking bracelet.

"What's this?" Jasmine asked.

"This is something my mom left for my future wife. She told me about it when I was ten, saying it was passed down from my grandmother," Ethan explained.

Jasmine didn't refuse; she was now able to calmly accept the role of Ethan's wife.

"Does it look good?" Jasmine asked, putting on the bracelet.

"It's beautiful." Ethan nodded.

After breakfast, they planned to go to the courthouse. Ethan always wanted to be ahead of things, fearing any changes.

Just as they were about to leave, Ethan's phone rang. The caller ID showed: Marissa.

Ethan frowned. "I saved her number a while ago."

Jasmine glanced at him, already guessing things wouldn't go smoothly. "Answer it. She just came back and joined the company; maybe it's something urgent."

Jasmine was curious about how the woman, whom even Connor praised as smart, would manage to get Ethan away.

Ethan answered the call, "Hello?"

"Ethan, I'll report to the company tomorrow. Today, I came to the Douglas Group," Deborah said with a smile. "I met your father. He's willing to talk to me. Can you come over?"

"After all, you're father and son. It's not wise for family to fight against each other," Deborah tried to persuade Ethan.

"You're meddling too much." Ethan frowned.

He had completely fallen out with Howard, and meeting him would be like walking into a trap.

Howard had been pressuring him to go home by suppressing his company, and once he did, it would be hard to escape.

Howard would achieve his goal by fair means or foul.

He thought he could destroy Ethan's company in a short time, but it turned out that even a small company was hard to defeat, and he was now struggling.

However, with the Douglas Group's capabilities, it was only a matter of time before they went bankrupt, but it would require a lot of effort.

"Uncle Howard said there's no great hatred between father and son. He loved your mother very much," Deborah said softly, and just as she was about to say more, Howard's voice came through the phone. "Let me talk to him."

Howard took the call. "Ethan, you’ve got a good eye. Deborah’s done great abroad these past few years. I want her to work at the Douglas family. Any objections?"

It was clear Howard was doing this on purpose. Having Deborah join the Douglas Group would make them more competitive. Howard thought he had Ethan figured out, believing Deborah was Ethan's final move and ally.

Jasmine looked at Ethan, understanding Howard was threatening him.

Ethan laughed, realizing Howard thought Deborah was his only ally. "Where she chooses to work is her own business. I have something more important to do this morning. Goodbye."

He hung up the phone.

Jasmine sighed. "You should go. If Deborah joins the Douglas family, we’ll have even less chance of winning."

Right now, there were too few people in their company capable of standing against the Douglas family. Jasmine didn't have much hope for Samuel, and if they let Deborah go to the Douglas Group...

"Deborah is smart. She can figure out why I fell out with Howard. She's testing him," Ethan reassured Jasmine.

"Do you know her well? Are you sure she won't stay with the Douglas Group?" Jasmine asked curiously.

Ethan hesitated but then said, "Yes, from what I know of her, if she wanted to join the Douglas Group, she wouldn’t have waited until now."

Jasmine lowered her eyes. It was impossible not to feel a bit upset, but she had to admit Deborah's excellence. Because she was excellent, she was confident.

Deborah's move was brilliant. While helping Ethan, she also showcased her own value.

"Forget it. Let’s go," Ethan said, taking Jasmine's hand and leading her to the car.

"Will Howard detain Deborah?" Jasmine asked innocently.

Ethan laughed. "In a society governed by law, he wouldn’t dare to be so blatant with an outsider. Besides, Deborah is smart; she has a backup plan."

Jasmine nodded and got into the car.

Everything went smoothly, but she was a bit distracted. Deborah's call in the morning was not only to test Howard but also to gauge Ethan's attitude.

Although she wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination, Jasmine could clearly feel that Deborah going to the Douglas Group had softened Ethan's attitude, even though he said she was meddling.

She believed Ethan had no romantic feelings for Deborah, but past favors existed. He couldn’t remain indifferent forever, nor could he be cold, because Deborah was not an enemy but an ally.

Not just Ethan, even Jasmine herself found it hard to show too much hostility towards Deborah. Because she had returned as an ally. And Jasmine knew that Ethan really needed someone like Deborah right now.

Deborah had indeed elevated her own value, which was the smart thing to do.

"Are you unhappy?" Ethan asked perceptively.

Jasmine shook her head, looking at the marriage certificate in her hand. "No, it just feels sureal, like the last time we got it."

"Give me the marriage certificate. I want to lock it in the safe. No divorce," Ethan said dominantly.

Jasmine smiled, took a photo of the marriage certificate, and saved it on her phone, looking at it for a long time.

In the photo, they looked really well-matched together.

So she shouldn’t let others affect her mindset. Ethan was hers, and she had to hold on to him. The company was hers, and she had to hold on to it too.

As long as she was strong enough, no one could bring her down.
