Chapter 370 The Game Between Experts
The Douglas Group.
Claire swaggered into the chairman's office.
People around her quickly lowered their heads when they saw her.
In the past, when Ethan was around, Claire rarely came to the company, didn't dare to come, and certainly didn't dare to act arrogantly.
Now, things had changed drastically, with Claire becoming extremely arrogant.
"Ethan's company. Did Alex also invest in it?" Claire frowned and asked,
Daniel casually mentioned something correctly.
"How dare you say it's correct? What's wrong with you guys? How could you let Alex invest in Ethan's company!" Claire was somewhat worried. "Even a weak flame can cause a fire. If we don't completely defeat Ethan, he will eventually rise again."
Claire had been feeling anxious and fearful lately, afraid that something might go wrong.
"Annabelle persuaded Alex to sign a betting agreement. As long as we win, they lose, Ethan will be completely kicked out, truly left with nothing," Daniel spoke in a deep voice,
Claire sneered and raised an eyebrow. "Can we win?"
"With the capabilities of The Douglas Group, winning over Ethan in the project is a piece of cake," Daniel said confidently,
"What's been going on with you lately? You're not coming home either?" Claire softened her tone, intending to give Daniel some praise.
Claire had always used this kind of educational method, a suppressive style of education, giving symbolic rewards as long as Daniel did well.
It was like training a dog.
"Annabelle doesn't like going back to the Douglas family," Daniel said lightly, not afraid of causing conflict between Annabelle and Claire, as both were not docile individuals and would cause trouble.
"I knew it was Annabelle. You've been married for so long, and she hasn't even had a child yet. How dare she have the ability to keep you from coming home to see me?" Claire was somewhat angry.
Daniel used to be very obedient and always stayed by her side. After getting married, Daniel moved out. At first, he said he would come home often, but now it was a stretch if Daniel could come back twice a month.
Claire naturally didn't like it.
The door was pushed open, and Annabelle stood at the door with a very bad expression. "Not being able to have children is not solely my decision."
Claire felt a bit nervous but then arrogantly leaned back on the sofa. No matter how impressive the heiress of the Cunningham family was, after marrying into the Douglas family, she had to abide by the Douglas family's rules. "Look at you, so impatient. You don't even know to knock before entering, no manners at all."
"Do you have manners when you incite the relationship between Daniel and me?" Annabelle sneered, knowing that Claire was not a good person.
"With all that free time you have, why don't you think about how to stabilize the company and have Howard give all the shares to Daniel."
Claire's face turned ashen with anger.
"Furthermore, do you think I don't want children? Daniel has his own issues. Ask Daniel himself." Annabelle looked sarcastically at Daniel.
Daniel looked a bit impatient. "If you want to argue, get out."
"Besides being mean to me, what else can you do? Coward." Annabelle had originally wanted to discuss how to deal with Ethan, but now she suddenly lost interest and left.
"What kind of attitude is that? The heiress of Cunningham Residence is so powerful. After marrying into the Douglas family, she doesn't understand any manners, and I don't know how the Cunningham family raised her," Claire angrily scolded,
"Have you said enough? You should leave, too." Daniel felt irritated.
Claire looked at Daniel in surprise. "What did you say? You want me to leave? I'm your mother!"
"Can you let me have some peace and quiet?" Daniel was starting to feel overwhelmed.
Claire stood up in anger, grabbed her bag, and pointed at Daniel. "You seem to have forgotten who raised you after getting Annabelle. It wasn't easy for me to raise you! You haven't even got the shares of the Douglas group in your hands yet, and you're already going against me!"
Daniel remained silent, just rubbing his forehead with his hand.
Daniel felt like he would eventually be driven crazy by Annabelle and Claire.
Upscale restaurant.
Annabelle made an appointment with Connor.
Connor was a very punctual person and arrived quickly.
"Connor, are you not busy lately?" Annabelle deliberately wore a sexy outfit, wanting to have a showdown with Connor.
Men liked beautiful women, and women liked excellent men because both had a conquering desire.
"No matter how busy I am, you are more important than anything else," Connor smirked.
"Connor, you're really a master in love affairs." Annabelle smiled ambiguously. Connor was really good at understanding women's minds.
"We are all the same." Connor smiled lightly.
"Connor, the weakness you told me about Jasmine last time isn't fatal enough. Jasmine can now overcome it very well. What I want is the kind of absolutely fatal weakness." Annabelle narrowed her eyes, full of coldness.
Connor leaned back in his chair, looking at Annabelle. "Some people kill with a knife; some people kill with just a few words."
Annabelle's eyes lit up as she looked at Connor. "You understand what I want."
"Of course, you want to accurately grasp what Jasmine needs, cares about, and fears; the more she cares, the more she fears." Connor kept smiling.
"You're absolutely right." Annabelle nodded.
"I know Jasmine's absolutely fatal weakness," Connor smiled meaningfully.
"Connor, how are you going to be willing to tell me?" Annabelle coquettishly asked,
"You also know what I want," Connor lightly tapped his glass.
Annabelle put down her glass and pushed a room key in front of Connor. "Tonight at eight, I'll be waiting for you here."
Connor raised an eyebrow, smiling meaningfully. "Alright."
Annabelle stood up, deliberately leaning on the table in a flirtatious manner.
She was wearing a low-cut dress, exuding a seductive vibe.
Connor glanced at her calmly.
Annabelle chuckled, thinking Connor was pretending to be calm, stood up straight, and left with a smile.
As soon as Annabelle entered the elevator, Connor's face instantly darkened to the extreme.
This time, it wasn't to wipe his fingers with an alcohol wipe but to wipe his glasses.
Inside the elevator.
Annabelle was confident that Connor would definitely follow her.
Annabelle was married, and Daniel never touched her. It was understandable for her to find another man.
However, Annabelle's status was special, representing not only the Harper, Douglas and the Cunninghamfamilies .
Therefore, Annabelle couldn't afford any stains or risks.
Fortunately, Connor's background was not simple, either.
In this way, both them could play without worries.
Annabelle got out of the elevator, got into the car, and received a call from Connor.
"Annabelle, I'm sorry, I can't make it tonight. One of my patients committed suicide, and I have to go." Connor's voice sounded regretful.
Annabelle frowned but still smiled as she spoke, "Connor is indeed busy."
"Of course, looking forward to our next meeting."
After hanging up, Annabelle let out an annoyed sigh.
This Connor was truly a master.
Connor was too cautious.
Annabelle had arranged for surveillance in the hotel room in advance, but Connor found an excuse not to come. He was definitely very clever.
It seemed that Connor wasn't easily fooled.
It would take a few more meetings to make Connor let his guard down.
No rush.
Take it slow.
Annabelle had plenty of time.
