Chapter 413 Connor Did Everything for Jasmine
"You've got some nerve coming to me," Ethan said in a low voice.
If it weren't for the trouble he caused Annabelle, Ethan would have blocked Connor a long time ago.
"Meet me outside," Connor said sternly, "And get Tom out of my house. If you don't, I'll kill him." Connor spoke angrily.
Ethan laughed. "Go ahead, kill him, and send him straight to the crematorium."
"Ethan, I'm not joking. I need to see you right now. It's about Jasmine's condition." Connor threatened Ethan.
Ethan's eyes darkened, and he glanced towards the study. He replied, "She's fine right now."
"You know nothing about severe depression and anxiety. She may seem fine now, but once it hits, it's hard to control. You'd better listen to me." Connor's voice was urgent. "And Jasmine was in prison for five years. You only know a fraction of her past."
Ethan frowned. "Fine, you pick the place. I'll come over after I get Jasmine to finish her meal."
In the Cunningham Residence.
Cordelia and Evelina entered the children's room and smiled at the three kids sleeping on the big bed. "These three kids are just too cute."
Evelina smiled and sat down to pinch Justin's cheek. "Nap time is over."
"Justin, Joe, Casey, wake up," Cordelia also smiled as she spoke.
Evelina's gaze wandered, and she smiled bitterly. "It's not easy to maintain a relationship without children. Sometimes, kids really do bring comfort."
Cordelia glanced at Evelina, knowing she wanted children.
She really wanted children; she had loved kids since she was young.
Evelina had once told Cordelia that she must have both a son and a daughter in the future. If she didn't have a daughter, she would keep trying.
"Nonsense, a relationship between two people isn't maintained by children," Cordelia sighed, "I gave William four kids, and it didn't stop him from finding lovers outside and having more children."
Evelina sighed, "It's really hard being a woman."
Justin woke up and sat up obediently, nudging Joe and Casey.
"Justin, how about we go to the amusement park this afternoon?" Evelina adjusted her mood and smiled.
"Yes! I'm so happy!" Justin hugged Evelina excitedly.
Evelina was very happy; this chubby little kid was so adorable.
"Justin, do you like me?" Evelina asked happily.
"Yes," Justin replied obediently.
"I want to take Justin too. Give him to me," Evelina said, holding the little guy and swaying him.
Cordelia sighed and gave Joe a light smack on the butt. "Joe has been spoiled by us. He won't get up unless we spank him."
After spending some time together, Cordelia also noticed that Justin was really mature among kids his age, which made her heart ache.
Probably because he was too afraid of losing, he always woke up early to accompany Cordelia, went to the kitchen to ask the nanny if she needed help, and went to the study to ask his uncle if he wanted coffee.
He would bring Cordelia milk on his own and help the gardener check the faucets.
Cordelia knew that Justin's upbringing lacked a sense of security, which led to his current personality.
Outside the Cunningham Residence, a black car was parked not far away.
"Cordelia and Evelina are taking the three kids out."
"Keep an eye on them. If you get a chance, take one of the kids," Sophia's voice was low.
She wanted to use the kids to get to Cordelia. If something happened to the kids, she would definitely lose her composure.
"Which one should we take?" the subordinate asked.
"I've already sent you the photo. The kid's name is Justin; he's Jasmine's son. Take him and use him to lure Cordelia to a secluded place and kill her."
Sophia has now reached a point of utter madness.
"Got it."
At the Tavern.
Ethan glared angrily at Connor sitting across from him.
"Connor, Jasmine is mine," Ethan warned.
"Ethan, you have no idea how severe it can be if she has an episode." Connor frowned. "I'm not here to fight with you. Annabelle knows Jasmine has severe depression and knows what can trigger her."
"What do you mean?" Ethan frowned, unable to read Connor.
"Jasmine is slowly coming out of her past shadows. You, the kids, and your family are all essential. What she lacked the most in the past, she's slowly regaining now, which is why she seems emotionally stable," Connor explained.
Connor was a bit anxious. "But missing any one of those three elements is not an option. Any issue with one of them could be a fatal blow to her. Whether it's Jasmine, the Cunningham family, or the Douglas family, there are constant threats around. Even if you watch her all the time, you can't guarantee her safety."
Ethan gripped his coffee cup tightly. "She's my woman, and I'll protect her."
"She's completed the third phase of treatment. The first phase, psychological counseling, didn't work for her. The second phase, MECT treatment, is also finished. The third phase is practical therapy, which is roughly completed." Connor looked seriously at Ethan.
Ethan looked at Connor with suspicion. For a moment, he truly believed that Connor might not be trying to harm Jasmine but was actually helping her with her treatment.
"Are you listening to me?" Connor was angry at Ethan's distracted look.
"I'm listening!" Ethan was also unhappy.
He wouldn't allow anyone to care more about Jasmine than he did. Many people liked Jasmine, including Connor.
"From a psychological standpoint, severe depression can only be clinically cured and is prone to relapse," Connor explained seriously.
Ethan listened with a grave expression.
Connor added, "Those five years in prison were the lowest point in Jasmine's life. I wasn't too worried about her emotional state because it couldn't get any worse. But I needed to give her a reason to live, to force herself to stay alive."
Therefore, Connor deliberately designed this situation, setting up so-called traps to give Jasmine a reason to move forward and a driving force for the sake of her child.
"But now, the biggest fear is that as she gets better and everything around her improves, she adapts to all the good things. It's like an immune system; without external stimuli, any invasion would cause a collapse."
Connor wasn't sure if Ethan understood. He continued, "In short, you need to be good to her, but not too good. You need to stimulate her occasionally. This is the fourth phase of treatment—psychological intervention treatment. You must cooperate with me."
Ethan frowned. "Explain clearly."
"It means you need to have occasional misunderstandings, make her guess, make her anxious, make her scared, make her sad. Don't let her emotions stay in a constant state of excitement. Otherwise, if there's a drop, she won't be able to handle it."
Connor rubbed his temples.
Ethan frowned. "Impossible."
He couldn't let Jasmine be sad.
"Just think of it as cooperating with the treatment. I've planned five phases in total, and we're at the most critical point. Once it's over, she'll be able to handle any future stimuli, and her stress response won't be as intense." Connor explained further, he knew Ethan wouldn't cooperate.
"Let me warn you first. You can choose not to cooperate, but whatever I do, don't interfere," Connor came to warn Ethan.
"You want to threaten me." Ethan slammed the table and stood up.
"I'm saving Jasmine!" Connor didn't back down an inch.
"Don't try to convince me with your theories. Jasmine is my wife, and I'll protect her. I won't let her be subjected to any stress!" Ethan was confident.
"You'll regret it." Connor adjusted his tie and turned away in anger.
When it came to Jasmine, they would never see eye to eye.
Therefore, they would just have to adapt as they went.
