Chapter 428 Sophia's Regret
Sophia still had a calm expression.
Annabelle was furious, her fingers trembling slightly. "You mean, you kidnapped Arnold?"
Sophia frowned. "Not Arnold, just a bodyguard."
"Is it this person?" Annabelle took out her phone, showing a photo she had secretly taken at Howard's birthday party.
Sophia glanced at it. "Yes, that's him."
Annabelle was shocked and jumped out of bed. "He is Arnold."
Sophia was stunned, unable to react for a long time. "You've been deceived. This can't be Arnold. His name is Guadalupe, just a poor guy from Westing Town. He used to be Cordelia's bodyguard, who later disappeared."
The more Sophia explained, the more frightened she became.
She silently repeated the name of 'Arnold'. She thought that man couldn't possibly be the real Arnold.
"Tell me quickly, where is he?" Annabelle asked anxiously.
"He's in a warehouse in the western suburb," Sophia said hoarsely, looking dumbfounded.
Guadalupe couldn't possibly be Arnold.
If Guadalupe was Arnold, then all her efforts on Willian over the years would be a joke.
What she could almost grasp was right in front of her.
Sophia pondered, 'Impossible, absolutely impossible, there couldn't be such a good thing.'
"Hurry to the warehouse in the western suburb, Arnold might be there. You must save him immediately. If he asks, just say we found him through surveillance," Annabelle walked out to called Daniel.
She needed to rely on the Douglas family to develop in Silverlight City now.
So the Douglas family couldn't fall to decline.
She also needed Daniel to get the Douglas Group's shares from Howard.
As long as Daniel had the shares, she, as Daniel's legal wife, would have the right to inherit them by law.
Once everything was settled, she wouldn't care about Daniel and Claire's lives.
After Annabelle left the room, Sophia picked up her phone to call Gregory.
But Gregory didn't answer the phone.
Obviously, something had happened to Gregory.
She and Gregory had agreed that if the phone couldn't be reached, just stop it. It indicated that he must in trouble.
Feeling a tightness in her chest, Sophia frantically called another person. "Has something happened to Gregory?"
"He was caught by the police," the other person cursed.
"Damn it," Sophia cursed.
"You didn't know Guadalupe was Arnold?" the other person said angrily.
Sophia took a deep breath. "Are you sure Guadalupe is Arnold?"
"I've already investigated. The Sanders senior met the youngest daughter of the old village chief, Beverly Moore, who is Guadalupe's mother. Sanders senior and Beverly got married in the village, and later he was called back and went abroad."
"Because of health reasons, the Sanders senior didn't have child, so he had Guadalupe, who is Arnold, brought back and groomed him to be the heir of the Sanders Group."
Sophia held the phone, her fingers trembling.
Guadalupe, that penniless poor man, turned out to be the heir of the Sanders Group.
How ridiculous!
Sophia went a bit mad. She hung up and smashed her phone in a frenzy.
It was him.
If she had known earlier that Guadalupe was Arnold, she wouldn't be a nanny for Willian all these years. She wouldn't have had to take care of him without dignity.
She regretted it so much that she almost lost control. Sophia wished she could slap herself. She burst into laughter as thought.
She didn't expect that Guadalupe was Arnold.
It seemed that not aborting that child back then was a blessing, even God was helping her.
This was getting more and more interesting.
At the Bellagio Hotel.
Arnold was about to call Cordelia as soon as he returned to the hotel.
"Cordelia is in your room," Derek whispered.
Arnold paused in his steps, quickly pulling Derek aside. He made himself look more disheveled and deliberately enlarged his wound, letting the blood soak through the bandaged gauze.
"Get me a wheelchair," Arnold instructed Derek.
Derek scratched his head and quickly ran to the hotel service desk to request a wheelchair.
Cordelia knew he was fine, but she must have been worried to be waiting in his room.
From his understanding, she cherished her reputation greatly. She had been married to Willian for so many years without any scandal that could tarnish the Cunningham family's name.
Unless she was genuinely worried, she would never come to the hotel alone and wait in his room.
Arnold thought that Cordelia might have some feelings for him. Perhaps she was just worried about him.
He pondered how to make Cordelia stay.
Arnold's mind was racing, he needed to make Cordelia pity him.
He smiled slightly and sat in the wheelchair. "Just leave me here and go."
Derek didn't dare say anything. He pushed Arnold into the room and quickly left.
Arnold wobbled in the wheelchair, pretending to fall as he stood up, hoping Cordelia would come to help him.
However, he didn't succeed.
Before he could fall, a strong hand grabbed him.
It was Nolan.
As soon as he saw so many people in the living room, his hope faded.
There were several people in the living room.
Ethan, Jasmine, Cordelia, Evelina, Nolan, Edward, and Edgar were all there.
Arnold fell silent and said nothing.
"Mr. Sanders, it's surprising that someone dared to kidnap you," Ethan said, probing for information.
"An overseas mercenary group. As for who hired them, it's still under investigation," Arnold said, looking at Cordelia with concern. "Cordelia, are you okay?"
Cordelia shook her head. "I'm fine."
After speaking, Cordelia stood up. "Since Mr. Sanders is safe, we won't disturb you any longer. Get some rest."
Arnold opened his mouth, feeling a bit sad.
He saw disappointment in Cordelia's eyes. She might be disappointed that he wasn't dead.
"Cordelia," Arnold turned, looking at her. "Make sure to take bodyguards with you when you go out. I worry that the people who kidnapped me might actually be targeting you. Even if there's no evidence, you must have a guess, right?"
Cordelia nodded. "I understand. Take care of yourself."
Cordelia's face was grim, clearly filled with anger.
She left without saying a word.
Jasmine knew Cordelia was angry, very angry.
From her initial panic to her calmness after knowing Arnold was safe, to her gloom and anger.
Jasmine knew this anger was directed at Sophia.
"Mom, where are you going?" Jasmine followed.
"Ethan, take Jasmine home," Cordelia said hoarsely.
Jasmine knew Cordelia would definitely teach Sophia a lesson tonight.
It was clear that Cordelia cared about Arnold.
But Jasmine didn't know what they had been through, and why Cordelia had tolerated Willian for so long, refusing to divorce him.
Jasmine got into the car with Ethan, and Evelina asked Cordelia, "What are you planning?"
"I'm going to divorce Willian." Cordelia replied firmly.
