Chapter 947 Rhett Will Be Imprisoned for Life

Connor sat alone in his bedroom for a long time. The silence from the living room began to worry him.

He realized, with a jolt of anxiety, that he was afraid Tom might leave because of what he'd shared.

After a lengthy silence, Connor found himself, for the first time, wanting someone to stay.

Gathering his courage, he opened the door to speak with Tom, only to discover an empty living room.

In that moment, Connor felt a crushing wave of disappointment.

He must have left.

Tom's bedroom door stood open.

Connor approached it step by step, his lifelong insecurity having limited him to just Ethan as his only friend for years.

Tom's room remained in its usual disarray—blankets haphazardly thrown across the bed, last night's water glass unwashed, toiletries still scattered about. It didn't look like he had moved out.

Connor sighed. Perhaps Tom just needed time to process everything?

Being in his own home, Connor's cleanliness compulsion took over. He put on gloves and a mask and began disinfecting everything.

After meticulously cleaning Tom's room and washing his water glass, Connor headed to the kitchen to sterilize it. That's when he noticed the kitchen knife was missing.

His body tensed as he instinctively grabbed his phone to call Tom.

Tom's phone rang from the sofa.

Connor's scalp prickled with fear as he rushed out and knocked frantically on Ethan's door.

Ethan appeared in his pajamas. "What's wrong?"

"Tom... took a kitchen knife and disappeared," Connor said, rubbing his forehead anxiously. "I'm worried he might do something stupid."

"Tom tends to rush into things, but Beck is far too cunning to get hurt by someone like him," Ethan replied, far calmer than Connor. After all, he knew Tom better.

"If you're worried, go look for him. He'll be fine," Ethan had no intention of wasting his precious time searching for Tom.

There was no way Tom could actually harm Beck anyway.

"He's your cousin..." Connor said, exasperated.

Ethan clearly wasn't concerned at all.

"Exactly. Just a cousin," Ethan raised an eyebrow. "Whoever's worried can go looking."

With that, he closed the door.

Ethan preferred to stay out of it. Connor needed to overcome his own struggles by opening up to others. He couldn't remain trapped in the shadows of his past forever.

Tom might be rough around the edges, but he had a good heart and a personality completely opposite to Connor's. Perhaps fighting fire with fire would actually work.

Connor frowned, still worried. He turned and ran toward the elevator, determined to find Tom.

The Police Station

Beck had rushed to the station after Avery's call about Rhett's knife attack and attempted rape. Even if he didn't care about Rhett's welfare, he needed to contain the situation.

The media had already picked up the story.

Multiple women had suddenly come forward online with named accusations against both him and Rhett, claiming Rhett had assaulted numerous victims.

With multiple testimonies, Rhett's guilt seemed certain.

Beck didn't care if Rhett went to prison, but the timing was disastrous for the Murray Group.

"Mr. Murray, your son Rhett has been arrested for breaking and entering with a weapon and attempted rape. As his father, what's your response?"

"Multiple women online are claiming you're also involved in several rape cases. Care to comment?"

Beck's expression darkened as he ignored the reporters and strode into the police station.

"I'd like to speak with the victim. Perhaps we can settle this privately..." Beck suggested.

"I'm sorry, but multiple victims have refused any private settlement," Charlotte interrupted coldly, standing with her lawyer. "The youngest victim is only fourteen, making this a case involving a minor. Given the severity and the overwhelming public outrage, you should save your efforts."

Beck's hands trembled with anger. "Let me speak to Avery."

He knew perfectly well that his son had fallen into Avery's trap.

This woman was ruthless—she intended to ensure Rhett would rot in prison.

"I'm afraid Ms. Hawthorne has no interest in meeting with you," Charlotte replied coolly, having adopted some of Avery's commanding presence.

Charlotte and her lawyer walked past Beck on their way out.

Beck clenched his jaw, his face darkening with rage.

Avery!Avery!

"Mr. Murray, you need to return to the company immediately," his assistant urged. "PR says reporters have surrounded the building. Several women are accusing you of violent abuse, illegal detention, and even... incidents involving minors. They've already filed police reports."

Beck's expression grew even darker.

This was clearly connected to Rhett's situation—another of Avery's machinations.

She was trying to get him thrown in jail with Rhett.

Beck thought to himself, 'Avery is ruthless!'The most poisonous heart indeed belonged to a woman.

"Tell PR to use every means necessary to suppress this. Spare no expense!" Beck ordered through gritted teeth.

Outside the Police Station

Vincent watched from his car as Beck hurriedly drove away, a smile playing at the corner of his mouth.

Beck had made too many enemies; now he would pay the price. And now he would pay the price.

"The Powell family has dealt a serious blow to the Murrays. Beck is now overwhelmed, and the Murray Group is on the verge of collapse. It's time for us to make our move against him," Vincent said, sitting up straight.

He was ready to strike.

"You're right," Lily purred, embracing Vincent. "Now is the perfect time to take Beck down. If we don't eliminate him, we'll be his next target. After Beck, the Cunningham family will be next."

Vincent turned to look at Lily, his lips curving upward. "Very well... whatever you say."

Beck's Residence

Tom had finally managed to track down Beck's address through a friend and sneaked onto the property, waiting for Beck to return so he could confront him.

The kitchen knife sat in his pocket as his body trembled with rage.

It was too lenient for a monster like Owen to simply die in prison.

Unable to get to Owen, Tom would do the world a favor by eliminating Beck instead.

Tom sat angrily in the bushes, waiting.

After what felt like hours, being eaten alive by mosquitoes, Beck still hadn't returned.

"Are you sure about this address? Beck still isn't back. Do you know what time it is?" Tom called his friend.

"It's definitely right. He lives there and returns home every night. My friend lives in the same gated community," the voice on the phone assured him.

Tom swatted at mosquitoes with his knife in frustration. If Beck didn't return soon, he'd be devoured by insects. If Beck didn't return soon, he'd be devoured by insects.

"He's coming. Gotta go," Tom whispered, spotting headlights approaching. He quickly ended the call and gripped the knife, crouching in the bushes.

Beck's car pulled up, and Tom watched him step out.

Tom tightened his grip on the knife, preparing to charge.

Before he could move, police cars suddenly arrived with flashing lights.

Tom nearly fell over in shock, his face turning pale. He hadn't even done anything yet, and the police were already here?

"Mr. Murray, you're wanted for questioning regarding multiple allegations, including the sexual assault of minors. You'll need to come with us," an officer announced.

Beck's face darkened as he turned to his assistant. "Get the lawyers on this."

Beck still seemed confident that even if accused, they would have no evidence against him.
