Chapter 444 Jasmine is Applying to Go Back to School

Liam looked at Ethan with disbelief, silently thinking to himself that Mr. Douglas was now a man completely blinded by love.

Seeing Liam's disbelief, Ethan didn't say much. "What did you just ask?"

"When did you fall in love with Jasmine? How come I didn't know?" Liam felt he was slow to catch on. Clearly, the two were just contract spouses, and he was the one who drafted the contract.

'When did the pretense become real? What happened during my time in the desert? Jasmine is quite capable, even managing to win over Ethan.' thought Liam.

"Do I need to call you to inform you when I fall in love with Jasmine?" Ethan glared at Liam. He was annoyed.

"Not at all," Liam quickly waved his hand. "I just think you fell in love too quickly. Don't let it be just a fleeting fancy."

In fact, Liam was silently praying for Jasmine in his heart. During the time they worked together, Liam quite liked Jasmine and thought that even if Ethan didn't like her in the future, they could still work well together and make money as colleagues.

Unexpectedly, he kindly considered her a colleague, but she wanted to be the boss's wife!

"Justin and Joe are both my sons. Jasmine is the woman I was with back then," Ethan explained. "But I didn't fall in love with her because of these things."

"If I had to give a reason, it would probably be no reason at all."

Ethan couldn't pinpoint exactly when or at what moment he fell in love with Jasmine.

"Ethan, you're smitten," Liam rolled his eyes, suddenly realizing something and standing up abruptly. "What?"

Ethan made a shushing gesture towards Liam.

Liam sat down, trembling with fear.

He had investigated for so many years and found nothing, only to end up discovering Annabelle.

It turned out Jasmine was right beside Ethan with the children.

He was truly damned.

"Mr. Douglas, I was wrong," Liam lowered his head, looking utterly ashamed.

Ethan lowered his eyes in guilt. "If I had another chance, I would never have left so arrogantly."

He shouldn't have left Jasmine alone there.

He shouldn't have thought Jasmine was a woman arranged by someone else.

"This is too strange," Liam scratched his head, overwhelmed with guilt. "Ethan, this is too strange. I searched for so long, checked so many surveillance tapes and eyewitnesses, and all I found was Annabelle, who said she entered your room that night."

"Because it wasn't Jasmine who went into the wrong room; it was me who went to the wrong floor and entered the wrong room," Ethan glared at Liam with resentment.

Liam's jaw almost dropped in shock. "You can't blame me for that. How was I supposed to know you went into the wrong room, took advantage of someone, and thought they were scheming against you?"

Liam's brain was a bit muddled. "At that time, Jasmine didn't accuse you of rape; she was practically an angel."

Ethan shot a murderous look at him.

Liam raised his hand to cover his mouth. "So it was always my misunderstanding of Jasmine. She wasn't trying to seduce you and you were the one who slept with her and didn't take responsibility."

Today, Liam said it outright.

Ethan was furious. "After Howard fires you, go back to the desert. Raymond wants to compete with the Douglas Group for the desert project. I've already arranged for someone to take over; you can go and handle it."

Liam was scared out of his wits. "Mr. Douglas, Ethan, I was wrong, I was really wrong."

"We are just a cousin," Ethan sneered.

He had only two cousins, Tom and Liam, both of whom were idiots.

Tom bullied his wife when they were in school, and Liam couldn't find out who his wife was after five years of investigation. Ethan cursed inwardly, 'Two complete idiots.'

No wonder people say you should never hire relatives, because they won't work properly.

"Ethan, I was wrong. I'll even kowtow to Jasmine if you want," Liam was almost in tears.

"Jasmine? Is that what you call her?" Ethan squinted his eyes.

"Fine, she is my sister-in-law. I'll kneel to her," Liam quickly corrected himself.

Ethan rubbed his temples and said, "Get lost and keep an eye on Howard and Daniel."

"Got it, Ethan." Liam got up and ran, but after a few steps, he turned back to look at Ethan. "Ethan, my mom said I can't go back to the desert because I can't find a wife. I've just gotten a bit lighter after being tanned like an African. Please, I'm begging you."

"Get lost."

"Yes, sir!"

Jasmine was discharged from the hospital the next day and went home with Ethan.

Ethan, injured, began to play the pity card. "Honey, today is a good day."

Jasmine was washing grapes for Ethan. "Huh?"

"A good day to apply for our marriage license," Ethan was eager.

"I contacted Henry, but he ignored me," Jasmine said with a hint of resentment. "Two hundred million dollars is no small amount. How could he just say no?"

"He's crazy," Ethan didn't hide his disdain for Henry.

"Yes," Jasmine leaned against Ethan, feeding him grapes.

Ethan kept staring at Jasmine, making her a bit self-conscious, her ears turning red. "Is there something on my face?"

"You have me in your eyes," Ethan said.

Jasmine burst into laughter.

Ethan reached out and pulled Jasmine into his arms. "Probably God blessed me. At least He let me get to you before you fell in love with Henry."

Jasmine looked at Ethan nervously, blinking her eyes.

In fact, in the beginning, her feelings for Ethan weren't love but dependence.

People like them, who had lived in darkness for so long, would develop a different kind of dependence on their savior, a feeling that closely resembled love.

"It's not love," Jasmine explained softly. "What I felt for Henry wasn't love."

Ethan looked at Jasmine, finding her serious explanation really adorable.

"I thought he would be my savior, so at first I was dependent on him," Jasmine explained earnestly.

Ethan nodded. "I see."

"There's something I want to tell you," Jasmine hesitated.

"What?" Ethan bit into the grape Jasmine was holding.

Jasmine's ears turned red as she spoke softly. "Mom helped me apply to go back to school, and she also submitted a review of the case that sent me to prison. There's evidence to prove that I didn't take the phone when I left the Wilson family."

"The IP addresses, login information, and even Richard can testify for me."

Ethan nodded. There was a lot of complete evidence, all of which Ethan had given to Cordelia.

"Karen falsely accused me," Jasmine said softly.

Evelina and Cordelia were planning to sue Karen for false accusations.

Because Jasmine's Facebook chat records were forged by Karen and Claire.

If Karen were investigated, it might lead to finding Claire. It all depended on whether Claire could clear her name.

"The evidence to overturn the case is sufficient, but Karen might not be punished for this. She has many ways to make the Wilson family's servants take the blame. After all, it's been so long, and evidence is hard to find," Ethan warned Jasmine to be prepared.

Jasmine nodded. "Mom and Evelina also said that even if Karen and Claire escape this time, it doesn't matter. Their main goal is to warn Karen and Claire, clear my name, and get me back to school."
