Chapter 531 Sophia Is Crazy

LY's security was tight. No outside cars could get in without an escort, so the car must have been reported by an insider, making it easy to trace.

The underground parking lot had full surveillance. When something seemed off, security acted fast, rushing down and calling the cops.

Tom grabbed one of the guys and wouldn't let go.

The other guy ran, got in the car, and tried to escape, but the barrier was down, and the fences were up.

No way out.

Richard led a team down, and Ethan rushed over, holding Jasmine to comfort her. "It's okay, it's okay."

He was worried Jasmine would freak out.

Jasmine was sensitive, and this kind of danger would definitely upset her.

But Ethan didn't realize Jasmine wasn't scared at all.

Jasmine peeked out of Ethan's arms and looked at Tom. "He's hurt."

Ethan turned to Tom, puzzled. "What are you doing here?"

Tom handed the guy over to Richard and then looked at Ethan, sounding hurt. "Ethan."

Ethan looked at him with disdain. "Speak plainly."

Tom straightened up. "Liam said I should come as a special assistant, said you'd pay."

Ethan's head hurt. Was Liam crazy?

He asked for someone reliable, and Liam sent Tom. He must have misunderstood "reliable."

"You should leave; this job isn't for you," Ethan said firmly. He'd better let Richard find someone else.

Jasmine looked at Tom and thought for a moment. "Let's use him."

Tom was strong but not very bright. Jasmine knew Tom well since they were old classmates.

Connor must have had other reasons for sending Tom. Jasmine thought she could get some info out of Tom.

Plus, Tom could fight.

"Are you sure?" Ethan asked, doubtful.

Jasmine nodded.

Ethan looked at Jasmine closely and patted her head. "Not scared?"

Jasmine shook her head.

Ethan finally relaxed, took Jasmine to the car, and looked back at Tom. "Let Richard take you to the hospital for your wounds. You did well today."

Tom was thrilled; he got praised.

"Ethan, call my mom and tell her how well I did, quick." Tom pushed his luck.

Ethan ignored him and drove off.

As he passed Richard, Ethan rolled down the window. "Dig deep on these two. They came to LY to cause trouble, so they won't be some randoms."

Richard nodded. "Don't worry, I'll get to the bottom of it."

It was clear these two were targeting Jasmine.

Jasmine was now the Cunningham family's heiress, a big change from before. Neither Howard nor Claire would bother going after her.

Jasmine being alive was valuable to them; dead, she was useless. So, this couldn't be Claire or Howard.

Then who?

Who would benefit most from Jasmine's death?

It had to be Sophia. It seemed Sophia had some free time and planned to handle both Arnold and Willian at once.

Sophia sat at the table, drinking coffee.

"You seem to have plenty of time on your hands," Karen said, taking off her sunglasses and sitting across from her. "I heard you offended Willian to please Arnold. Now Willian runs to Cordelia every day and hasn't even called you?"

"He's not the type to settle down.; I don't care." Sophia sneered, pouring coffee for Karen. "Willian and I have a daughter; that's my leverage."

Willian doted on his daughter, so he'd plan for her future.

So, Sophia wasn't in a rush.

"As long as Willian's alive, with his wife and sons dead, the Cunningham family will end up with my daughter," Sophia said, eyes cold.

Karen was shocked. "You're ruthless. There are a lot of people in the Cunningham family. Do you plan to take them all out? Cordelia and Nolan aren't easy targets. Taking out so many at once, you're crazy."

Sophia sipped her coffee. "The bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. If they don't die, my interests aren't secure."

She'd spent years investing in mercenaries, raising them for a moment like this. When she needed them, they had to deliver.

"Did you send someone after Jasmine? You're just alerting the enemy," Karen said, annoyed.

"Alerting the enemy? No, it's a feint. Targeting Jasmine is just a distraction," Sophia laughed. "I want to lower their guard and then take out Nolan and his brothers."

Karen looked at Sophia, conflicted. This woman was too crazy. She needed to distance herself before things went south.

Jasmine was easy to deal with, but Nolan was a tougher nut to crack.

Sophia was too confident.

This incident didn't scare Jasmine much; she didn't dwell on it.

"Sophia's setting up a plan," Jasmine said as she got out of the car. "Those two mercenaries were skilled, but two of them couldn't beat one Tom. Does that seem normal?"

"They must be expendable." Ethan nodded. They were definitely Sophia's throwaways, just used to be discarded.

Making everyone focus on protecting Jasmine.

To make it easier for Sophia to carry out her next move.

Divert the enemy's focus, then strike.

"What do you think Sophia will do next?" Jasmine asked.

"Either go after Mom or target everyone in the Cunningham family," Ethan guessed.

Jasmine thought for a moment. "Then we'll start with Willian and ruin her plan."

"What do you mean?" Ethan raised an eyebrow, smiling.

With Liam around, Jasmine had him handle everything directly.

She didn't want to keep bothering Ethan.

"I secretly did a paternity test for Willian and that daughter. The girl isn't Willian's at all. Sophia's schemes are too blatant," Jasmine smiled.

She dared to let Willian raise a non-biological daughter for years and even planned to give her shares and inheritance.

Sophia's audacity was extraordinary; she treated Willian like a fool.

"Good thing you didn't inherit Willian's brains," Ethan joked.

Willian was indeed too stupid.

"But Sophia's methods are ruthless. We still need to be careful and stay vigilant," Jasmine said, holding Ethan's hand. "I'm not worried about myself; I'm more worried about you."

She was concerned Howard might get anxious and, like Sophia, target Ethan.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine," Ethan said, hooking pinkies with Jasmine.

"You better not lie to me," Jasmine said, uneasy.

Ethan nodded. "Okay, I won't lie to you."

He had vulnerabilities but also armor.

At the Everhart family yard, Evan, rarely seen outside, was basking in the sun. He looked much better than a few days ago and was at least eating voluntarily.

Seeing Jasmine walk in, Evan froze, then panicked and tried to escape. His legs gave out, and he fell to the ground, looking both embarrassed and frightened.
