Chapter 661 Evan's Final Compensation to Jasmine
Deborah was laughing at Jasmine for being foolish.
With this mess, no one would consider her previous plans for new energy vehicles and batteries, no matter how good they were.
She brought this upon herself.
Unless Jasmine could prove that her plan was stolen.
Unfortunately, she didn't have that ability.
"I was wondering how you suddenly became so capable. It turns out it was plagiarism?" Avery glanced at Deborah. "It's not easy to be as shameless as you."
"Avery!" Deborah looked at Avery with a sullen face. "The one plagiarizing now is Jasmine."
"Exactly, Avery. You're the president of the Hawthorne Group. How can you side with an outsider? It's obvious that the other side plagiarized!" a senior executive from the Hawthorne Group spoke up for Deborah.
"Yes! Jasmine's cheating is obvious. She must give us an explanation!" Someone from the Hawthorne Group stood up and led the commotion.
"Jasmine, since you represent the Douglas Group, you must give us an explanation. Your plan is clearly plagiarized from ours!"
Seeing the commotion from the Hawthorne Group, a few people from the Everhart Group's investment department exchanged glances.
"Jasmine, we're sorry. But you're suspected of plagiarism. So we can't accept it."
"Me, plagiarize?" Jasmine laughed. "With two identical plans, how can you tell that I plagiarized and not her?"
The investment department people frowned and exchanged glances. "Jasmine, their plan is clearly more complete. We have decided."
"Don't be so quick to decide." Jasmine interrupted, directly showing the office surveillance footage. "My computer was tampered with yesterday afternoon. Someone directly copied my important encrypted files."
The surveillance clearly showed Beth entering the office, opening the computer, and copying the files.
"And after this woman copied my files, she directly handed them to the Hawthorne Group, who then presented them without proper review, making a fool of themselves."
Jasmine sneered and showed the photos taken during Deborah's team presentation.
"They didn't even bother to replace my text." Jasmine laughed. "Everyone can see, in my text, I hid words in a pattern of every first, third, fifth, seventh, and ninth character of each line. When you pick out each character, it reads: 'This document is from the Douglas family.'"
Jasmine had hidden something in an important research explanation.
Each line of text had hidden characters in order, which, when read individually, showed nothing, but when connected in sequence, it read: 'This document is from the Douglas family.'
Jasmine presented the evidence, proving that Deborah had plagiarized.
Yet the investment department people still wanted to protect Deborah.
"This might just be a coincidence. Please don't make a scene. The two documents are still different, and we still find the Hawthorne Group's plan more appealing," the other party spoke boldly.
Jasmine no longer had Ethan, and although she had the Cunningham Group behind her, in the face of interests and threats, they still chose to side with Deborah.
"Coincidence? The evidence is right in front of you, and you call it a coincidence?" Betty sneered. "Alex isn't in San Fransisco, and you think you're tough?"
The investment department people looked grim and spoke in a deep voice, "We have the right to decide the investment direction."
"Losing is losing, yet you still put on this act. It's really shameful." Deborah sneered as she stood up, provocatively looking at Jasmine. "Do you think presenting this so-called evidence will restore your dignity?"
"If you accuse us of plagiarism, we'll sue you for defamation," said a senior executive from the Hawthorne Group.
"Enough, stop embarrassing yourselves." Avery warned in a deep voice.
"Jasmine, our plan is just better than yours. Is it so hard to admit?" Deborah questioned Jasmine.
Jasmine looked at Deborah, so confident. It seemed everything had been arranged long ago.
"The evidence is right in front of you, and you can still be so arrogant. I really underestimated you." Jasmine sneered.
"Alright, since all the project proposals have been presented, let's not waste any more time." Deborah turned around, urging the investment department to quickly make a decision and sign the contract to avoid any delays.
"The Everhart Group has always been a benchmark in venture capital, with so many people watching, being so arbitrary isn't appropriate, is it?" The conference room door was pushed open, and Evan, sitting in a wheelchair, was pushed in.
Seeing Evan, the investment department people were stunned for a moment, then panicked. "Mr. Wilson."
"Mr. Everhart is not here, so as the newly appointed director of the Everhart Group's investment department, I came to take a look," Evan said in a deep voice, taking a look at all the proposals. "The proposals from LY and the Douglas Group clearly have more potential. The Douglas family is well-established, and LY's concepts and direction are more stable and represent the mainstream of future development."
"But Sir, please look at the Hawthorne Group's proposal," the investment department people said nervously, pushing Deborah's proposal forward.
"Why should I look at a plagiarized document?" Evan directly threw the proposal into the trash can.
Everyone present was in an uproar, looking at Evan in shock.
They had all heard of Evan, originally the president of the Wilson Group, who later left and joined the Everhart Group.
They didn't know when he joined, but it was clear that Evan was siding with Jasmine, his former sister.
"This investment decision was made collectively by the investment department. As Jasmine's former brother, aren't you being a bit too biased?" Deborah said angrily.
Evan glanced at Deborah and sneered. "Biased? Jasmine has already presented evidence of your plagiarism and reported it to the police. I have already contacted the police, and that woman named Beth has confessed everything. I suggest you start thinking about how to clear your name."
Deborah's face changed, and she looked at Jasmine with anger.
Jasmine, just recovering from her shock, smiled at Deborah. "Those who do evil will eventually bring about their own downfall, Deborah. Using underhanded tactics won't get you everything."
Deborah snorted, took out her proposal, and looked at her team members. "What are you standing around for? Let's go!"
Avery clapped and laughed. "Leaving already? How can a plagiarist be so angry?"
"Avery, let's see how long you can stay arrogant," Deborah said harshly before leaving.
Jasmine looked at Evan but said nothing.
"The Everhart Group has decided to invest in the Douglas family and LY," Evan said to the investment department people. "Also, you two should resign voluntarily when you get back. Don't make me present the evidence of Deborah bribing you, understood?"
The investment department people were all panicked, nervously clenching their hands.
Evan was truly formidable.
Moreover, everyone in the Everhart Group knew that Evan was Alex's illegitimate son. Who would dare to confront him directly?
"Jasmine," after handling the investment matters, Evan turned around and called out with somewhat nervously.
"The Everhart Group investing in us, a strong alliance, happy cooperation," Jasmine said distantly and was about to leave.
"Jasmine." Evan tried to stand up slowly, supporting himself with the wheelchair.
His legs were crippled, and he had been working hard to rehabilitate himself to help Jasmine.
He had agreed to join the Everhart Group because he was afraid Jasmine would lose in this bet.
This time, being able to help her, he had no regrets.
"Can you call me Evan one more time?" Evan's voice trembled slightly as if he were pleading.
Evelina and Alex's three-month agreement was coming to an end. He wouldn't really stay in the Everhart Group, nor would he continue to live and be a burden to everyone.
He had already helped Jasmine, and there were many people to accompany her on the road ahead.
He was at peace.
