Chapter 319 What Has Betty Been Through in the End?
Richard's residence.
Jasmine got off work and was sent back by Nolan.
Because Ethan had an engagement today and was concerned about leaving Jasmine alone, he decided to contact Nolan.
Nolan had a dark face the whole way, feeling very uncomfortable being treated as a driver.
Despite his displeasure, he still came to give her a ride.
Jasmine shrank the whole way, looking out the window without words.
The gesture of having the boss personally deliver it after work is truly an unparalleled level of service.
"Thank you, I arrived," Jasmine got out of the car and thanked him.
Nolan snorted, disdainfully surveying the crowded roads of the rental housing area. "Ethan is so poor that he lets you live in a place like this? I don't think you need to be with him."
Jasmine's mouth twitched a bit. Nolan was fine when he didn't speak, but once he did, he became annoying.
"This place looks unsafe and unsanitary at first glance," Nolan muttered.
Jasmine rolled her eyes. "If I secure the project, will you buy me a house?"
Nolan immediately shut up.
After a while, he sarcastically remarked, "I knew you had big ambitions, but the profit from this project won't be enough to buy you a house."
Jasmine silently criticized Nolan multiple times in her mind.
"However, if you can secure the project from the Crestwood Development Group, I might consider it," Nolan extended an olive branch to Jasmine.
Jasmine sighed. "The boss of Crestwood Development Group is very mysterious. Everyone knows that it's not easy to secure a project from Crestwood Development Group. Are you joking with me? Mr. Nolan "
Nolan tapped Jasmine. "As the executive assistant, you should dare to think and act. Is this the extent of your abilities?"
Jasmine put on a fake smile and thought to herself, "Okay, Mr. Nolan, I'll work hard."
Nolan snorted, rolled up the car window, and drove off.
Jasmine maintained her professional fake smile and waved at Nolan with a smile, and once his car was far away, her smile instantly disappeared.
Damn capitalist!
Coming out of the elevator, Jasmine saw Betty standing by the terrace, and she looked lost.
Jasmine was startled and hurried over. "Betty, why are you standing here?"
"I have to leave," Betty said, raising her hand to rub her forehead. Then she removed the ring from her hand and placed it on the terrace.
"Aurora is back, and will ultimately choose her. Just now, Aurora jumped from here."
Jasmine looked at Betty in shock, wanting to ask more, but Betty had already entered the elevator.
"Betty, should I wait for my brother to come back?"
Jasmine felt a bit anxious, afraid that they were really going to break up.
Betty didn't say a word and just left.
Jasmine stood in place, looking at the ring on the terrace with some regret.
She didn't know what kind of relationship existed between Richard and Betty.
Jasmine was well aware of how much Richard had loved Aurora in the past.
Could he forget so quickly in such a short time? If he couldn't forget, wouldn't it be unfair to Betty?
"Richard?" Not long after Betty left, Richard returned, looking somewhat tired.
He glanced at Jasmine and hesitated to speak, "You stay with her. I have something to do," Richard wanted to avoid, not daring to face Betty.
He was afraid that Betty was really the person who had calculated to make Aurora leave five years ago and gave her money to go.
"Betty has already left, and she left a ring here," Jasmine pointed to the ring on the terrace.
Richard paused for a moment, walked over, and held the ring in his hand.
"Richard, what are your feelings for Betty?" Jasmine asked.
Richard lowered his head, gripping the ring tightly.
"I don't know," after a while, Richard said.
Jasmine sighed. "Do you still love Aurora?" Richard shook his head.
He probably didn't love her anymore, which was why he seemed calm.
At the moment Aurora jumped from the building, he looked at her as if she were a stranger. He felt anxious and regretful, but there was no longer that same excitement from the past.
"Richard, if someone is lost, maybe they can never come back," Jasmine reminded Richard that when it wastime to pursue, he should go for it.
"Let the past be the past. If she could abandon you once, it means that at that time, she chose to give up you. For someone who has given up on you, regardless of the reason, you need to think carefully."
Like her and Daniel.
Even if the truth came out one day and Daniel knelt to beg her, she would remain indifferent.
Because she no longer loved him.
She didn't need him to make it up to her.
When she needed love the most, Daniel hurt her.
After she emerged from her suffering, what did she need him for? She wasn't the Virgin Mary, not wanting to give him a chance to grow, nor wanting to save souls.
The Ryan family.
Betty drank, leaning drunkenly on the sofa, still holding a bottle of alcohol.
"Ms. Betty, stop drinking," the nanny showed some affection.
Betty vomited, holding onto the trash can. She knew Richard wouldn't come back. Richard wouldn't want her anymore.
'Aurora would definitely use that incident against her. She would use any means to keep Richard. 'Betty thought.
Ms. Betty, you can't drink anymore," the nanny sighed.
"No! Give me alcohol, let me drink," Betty waved her hand, wanting more alcohol.
"Ms. Betty, you forgot you had stomach surgery. Part of it was removed. You can't continue to abuse yourself like this." The nanny choked up, recalling past events, her eyes reddening.
Betty had suffered too much in the past.
Betty paused for a moment, then suddenly shrank in fear in the corner. "Get out!"
The nanny looked at Betty in fear, knowing she had triggered her memories again. "Ms. Betty, don't hurt yourself."
"I told you to get out!" Betty shouted in madness.
The nanny quickly got up and left the room.
Turning off all the lights, Betty huddled in the corner, clutching her body tightly. She wanted to forget the past and what she had been through. If she could forget all that, everything would be fine.
Betty's phone rang. Betty instinctively glanced the phone, hoping it was Richard’s calling. But it wasn't Richard. Richard didn't care about her and didn't call or come to see her. This time, she didn't need to hide, and Richard wouldn't come looking for her.
"Hello?" Betty's voice was low.
"Betty, I need to change my number so I can call you." On the other end of the line was Braden from the Johnson family, who was also Betty's late husband's brother.
Hatred gradually filled Betty's eyes, and her fingers trembled as she gripped the phone tightly. "Do you want to die?"
"Betty, I just wanted to check on you..." Braden's smile was somewhat eerie.
"It's okay, I'll hang up." Betty instantly sobered up.
"I heard that you recently have set yoursights on a man, keeping a man by her side. Dating?" Braden asked with a smile.
"It's none of your business." Betty's voice was low.
"Betty, you are my brother's widow, so I naturally have to take care of you. As for the man you've found, I have to keep an eye on him for you." Braden's words carried a hint of threat.
"I'm telling you, if you dare touch him, I'll kill you," Betty warned cautiously.
"Betty, the things from our family can't just be given away by you to another man. But if this man knew what you've been through all these years, I wonder if he would react like my brother, thinking you're dirty and not even wanting to touch you." he warned.
