Chapter 898 Vincent and Lily Meet
"Avery, did you sleep well last night?" Rhett hugged Avery in front of Edgar.
Edgar's gaze could almost kill.
If Lyanna hadn't stopped him in time, Edgar might have committed murder.
"Not bad," Avery smiled faintly.
"Then we won't trouble you any further, we'll head back now," Rhett said, holding Avery's hand and leading her away.
"The house was just renovated, it's not good for the child, you could stay here a few more days," Edgar said through gritted teeth.
Rhett's lips curled up, knowing that the child in Avery's belly was Edgar's. He intended to use this child and Avery to manipulate Edgar.
"We won't bother you anymore. Everything in the house is made of the most environmentally friendly materials. I've already had someone test for formaldehyde, and everything is up to standard," Rhett said, leading Avery away.
Edgar wanted to stop them, but Lyanna held him back.
"Why are you always stopping me?" Edgar looked at Lyanna.
"They are the married couple," Lyanna said bravely.
She had been abused since childhood. She was most afraid of men, thinking they all had violent tendencies and would commit domestic violence, so she was also afraid of Edgar.
But Edgar, even when extremely angry, never laid a hand on her.
"Do I need your reminder?" Edgar was furious, walking to the window to look outside.
Lyanna sighed. "I'm a bit worried about Avery. Rhett is a madman, a pervert. He likes to control others."
Edgar rubbed his temples in frustration.
Avery didn't agree, and he couldn't just go and cause trouble.
"If you're really worried, I have an idea," Lyanna thought for a moment and spoke again. "We can say there was a break-in at home and it's not safe, so we need to stay at Rhett's temporarily."
Edgar looked at Lyanna, raising an eyebrow. "It seems you're not completely useless, you can be quite clever in critical moments."
Lyanna smiled awkwardly. "Then we'll go back tomorrow and tell Rhett there was a break-in at our house."
If they went tonight, it would be too obvious.
Edgar was a bit displeased, having to wait until tomorrow.
He was really worried, but had no other way.
Avery's residence.
Rhett and Avery returned home, and all the servants and butlers had been replaced.
Avery sneered, Rhett had prepared thoroughly.
"Where are the old staff?" Avery asked.
Rhett smiled. "Avery, while you were away, those old staff members resigned. Knowing you were coming back, I contacted them in advance, but they all had other jobs and couldn't return, so I took the liberty of hiring new ones. But don't worry, they are all professionals, and I trust them to take good care of you."
Avery nodded and sat on the sofa.
"Get Mrs. Murray some water," Rhett ordered.
A maid quickly ran to get Avery some water, looking very afraid of Rhett.
Rhett sat next to Avery, deliberately getting close to her, intending to hold her in his arms.
However, Avery pretended to vomit, holding her head in discomfort. "Sorry, my morning sickness is severe, please don't..."
Rhett, who had a cleanliness obsession, was disgusted when Avery vomited on him, feeling like he wanted to die.
He ran to the bathroom, trying to hold back his nausea, and ended up vomiting himself.
Avery's lips curled up. Before meeting Rhett, she had deliberately forced down a packet of milk, so she could vomit at will.
Rhett vomited for a while in the bathroom, then cleaned himself thoroughly before changing into fresh clothes.
But he still felt like he smelled everywhere.
"I'm a bit tired, I'll go to bed first," Avery said, seeing Rhett had finished his shower, she planned to go to sleep.
Rhett frowned, his face darkening. "Avery, now that we've formed a new family, there are some rules and regulations I must make clear to you. You just got out of prison, so I won't blame you, but now you are my wife. At home, you must follow the house rules, and outside, you must understand social etiquette, understand?"
Avery laughed, looking back at Rhett. "House rules? Who made them?"
"These are rules that have been in the Murray family for a long time, passed down from our ancestors," Rhett explained proudly.
Avery held back her laughter. "Do you have a throne to inherit?"
Rhett frowned. "Avery, that joke is not funny at all. You can't joke like that anymore. In my house, women must center around men. How can you go to bed before I do?"
"Oh, so if you don't come home, I can't sleep? If you stay out all night, I have to stay up all night?" Avery looked at Rhett.
He had a lot of rules.
Rhett nodded. "In theory, yes. But I will treat you with respect. If I stay out all night or in special circumstances, I will inform you in advance so you can sleep first."
"Oh, does that mean if you don't eat, I can't touch the fork?" Avery asked with a smile.
Rhett nodded. "You got that right."
Avery laughed. "Any other special rules?"
"When I come home, you must take my briefcase first, help me take off my coat, bring me slippers, take care of my daily needs, and choose my clothes and tie for the next day. You must also fully satisfy all my needs," Rhett said naturally, as if this was something every wife should do.
Avery nodded. "Can't the maid do these things?"
"How can a maid compare to a wife? These things show a wife's respect for her husband," Rhett corrected Avery's thinking.
"I understand," Avery nodded and continued walking upstairs.
"You understand, but you're not waiting for me to sleep together?" Rhett asked.
"I just got out of prison, so I need a few days to adjust. We should sleep in separate rooms for now because I've been nauseous, and I'd feel terrible if I threw up on you in the middle of the night." Avery said with a smile.
Rhett's face darkened. "I suggest you don't keep this child."
"I suggest you don't keep your head," Avery turned back, looking at Rhett with cold eyes.
Rhett was stunned, thinking he had misheard. "What did you say?"
Avery put on a smile. "Nothing, I said you should rest early."
Rhett scoffed, thinking that there was plenty of time. He wasn't worried about a delay; he was confident that one day, Avery would be at his feet.
Sunshine Restaurant.
The night view of Silverlight City was beautiful. Lily, who had come to Silverlight City, had an appointment with Vincent today.
Rhett and Vincent had already met, and Vincent was very interested in Lily's cooperation proposal, so he suggested meeting Lily in person.
Lily had been waiting for half an hour, and Vincent had not arrived yet.
Frowning, Lily didn't dare to leave early. Although Vincent was crazy, he was definitely a good partner, capable of restraining Ethan, giving them enough time and energy to deal with the Cunningham Group.
"Sorry, there was traffic," Vincent arrived.
In the dim light, his long hair and tailored suit gave him a mesmerizing, almost manic beauty.
Lily was stunned for a moment, then smiled at Vincent. "Mr. Hamilton."
Vincent sat across from Lily. "I heard from Rhett that you have a project you want to cooperate with me on?"
Lily nodded. "I believe Mr. Hamilton will be very interested."
