Chapter 331 William Suspects Sophia
In Sunset Haven Estate.
Willian threw Sophia a birthday party with everything she could wish for - flowers, cake, and more.
"Over the years, you've been following me without any recognition or status, and I see your hard work," Willian raised his glass to Sophia.
"Wait for Annabelle. She said she'll be here in a moment". Sophia smiled at William, graceful and understanding. "After all, she is the daughter of you and Coco. She disappeared for so many years. I can't help but feel affection for this child."
Willian was a bit upset. "We agreed to be alone together, and Evelyn came back without my consent."
Evelyn was the daughter of William and Sophia.
Sophia's expression changed imperceptibly when Evelyn was mentioned, and she smiled before speaking. "Evelyn is rebellious and disobedient. We gave her the best education, but she didn't study management properly. Instead of joining the Cunningham Company to help her brothers, she insisted on entering the entertainment industry. Yet, she hasn't gained any fame in these past few years."
Sophia said unhappily, "She's just being ridiculous."
"Evelyn had her own thoughts. What's wrong with the entertainment industry? With me around, who dares to bully my daughter?" William snorted, finding himself quite appreciative of Evelyn's personality.
"Just indulge her," Sophia smiled helplessly.
The doorbell rang.
Sophia got up and opened the door.
Annabelle brought a gift and gave it to Sophia. "Happy birthday, Aunt Sophia."
Willian snorted, thinking to himself, 'If Coco finds out her daughter is still coming to Sophia's birthday party, she'll be furious.'
He intentionally called Coco today and told her it was Sophia's birthday, just to see if Coco would get upset. Surprisingly, Coco asked him to wait until the actual birthday to call!
She still had the same temperament as before, unchanged after all these years! She hadn’t learned how to compromise in half a lifetime.
"Dad," Annabelle called out.
Willian nodded. "How did you find the time to come over?"
"My mom asked me to come," Annabelle said with a smile. "Mom said, after all, I am your daughter, so I should come and see you."
Willian felt better. "She still has a heart."
Annabelle smiled and said again, "Dad, when will you have time to come home for dinner? Mom really misses you."
Willian looked incredulous. "Coco? Miss me? Miss me when I die?"
Annabelle looked embarrassed. "How could this happen?"
Sophia handed Annabelle the utensils and winked at her, indicating to bring up the topic of stocks directly.
Annabelle spoke up,"Dad, I'm back too. When are you going to give me my share?"
Willian paused with the forksin his hand. "You just got back, not familiar with the Cunningham Group yet. Tell Nolan that I'm letting you intern at the advanced company first, and when you make achievements, it won't be too late for me to help you."
Annabelle frowned. "Dad, these shares weren't discussed like this before. I only own shares and don't want to be involved in the company's decision-making and operations."
"Willian, Annabelle has been found, so please don't hold onto her belongings any longer," Sophia said.
"Dad, there's not much point in dragging your feet," Annabelle said, looking at William.
Willian frowned, looking very displeased.
"Willian, it was hard to find Annabelle back. Don't provoke Coco anymore," Sophia tentatively spoke again.
Willian glanced at Sophia.
Sophia mentioned before that if Annabelle doesn't return, can the shares be given to Evelyn, allowing her to join the Cunningham Group ?
Evelyn was unwilling, so she firmly returned to the United States and entered the entertainment industry.
As a result, Sophia got really angry.
Although Sophia didn't show it in front of him, that day, Sophia called Evelyn and got angry on the phone, and he happened to overhear.
Now, suddenly, I put so much effort into helping Coco find his daughter, constantly persuading him.
Was she just too kind, or...
Willian furrowed his brows. "Alright, today is your birthday, let's eat first!"
Sophia took a deep breath, knowing she had said too much, and fell silent.
Annabelle was in a hurry. She was anxious to sell this portion of the shares.
The stocks were acquired, and only then could she rest easy.
"Dad, what are you worried about?"
"As the heiress of the Cunninghams, if you want a stake, you have to show me your abilities," William said casually. "I heard that you married Daniel from the Douglas family and are now involved in managing the Douglas family? Aren't you both interested in new energy projects? If you can make some achievements, I will give you the shares."
Annabelle furrowed her brows and clenched her fists.
Willian was clearly being intentional.
"Dad, what achievements?"
"Didn't you ask me a couple of days ago to help you contact the Everhart family? Whether they can approve your project and secure investment will be the first assessment I give you."
"But mom..." Annabelle mentioned Coco.
"Even if Coco came to me personally, I would still stick to these terms. As for your mom, I will go see her myself so she doesn't have to come to me," Willian said firmly.
Sophia secretly gave Annabelle a wink, and then they stopped talking.
Willian was about to get angry.
Over the years, she really served Willian like a slave.
Willian, however, remained cautious around her.
Taking a deep breath, Sophia let out a cold snort.
She must get the shares as soon as possible.
When she tightened her grip on the things in her hands, Willian was willing to find whoever he wanted to see!
She had had enough a long time ago!
In the Douglas Group.
Daniel looked very upset as he sat in the office.
Howard's files all landed on Daniel's face. "The Crestwood Development Group, is it again ! And we still haven't figured out who the owner of this group is."
Daniel shook his head.
"It has taken away so many projects from our company recently, can you believe it? You are useless!" Howard was irritated. The Douglas family's current situation was completely reliant on this facade.
Since Ethan left the company, the Crestwood Development Group became the biggest competitor of the Douglas Group.
It always snatched up any project that caught the eye of the Douglas family.
The board members have already started to become restless.
Continuing like this, the Douglas Group was completely in chaos internally!
"If Ethan were here, this situation would never have happened. When he was around, this group wouldn't dare to go against us like this!" Howard said angrily.
Daniel cast a dark glance at Howard, his fingers tightening. "Dad, I've managed to infiltrate this group. I'll soon be able to uncover its secrets."
"I had someone arrange a dinner appointment with the senior management of Crestwood Development Group tomorrow night at the Bellagio Hotel. If we can establish a cooperative relationship, there's no need to fight over trivial matters. Our Douglas Group and Crestwood Development Group have no animosity. The latter doesn't need to engage in actions that harm both sides.”Howard needed help understanding what the opponent really wanted to achieve.
Bring down the Douglasfamily?
"Dad, is it possible that Ethan is up to something behind the scenes?" Daniel had a feeling that Crestwood Development Group was more complex than it seemed.
His small company couldn't even secure investments now, almost being crushed behind your back. Did he have the ability? Howard didn't believe it.
"That's true," Daniel relaxed his guard.
"In this new energy direction, you must secure the investment from the Everhartsfor me. The rivalis not currently involved in this area, and we need to capture the market," Howard issued a final ultimatum to Daniel.
