Chapter 479 Zelda Was Insane!
Zelda, like a madwoman, threw the medicine on the ground. "We're the scum of this world. We should all die together."
Zelda walked up to Thomson and Amanda. Seeing them about to call the police, she snatched their phones and tossed them away. "This is my retaliation!"
Zelda laughed maniacally. "Mom, Dad, don't be scared. You go first. I'll bring Annabelle to you soon."
With that, Zelda tied Thomson and Amanda up with a rope.
"You're crazy!"
"I am. I even have a certificate for it. Even if the police catch me, I'd be exempt." Zelda laughed. "Mom, Dad, isn't this the protection you gave me?"
Thomson and Amanda were ashen, curled up on the ground, vomiting blood from the pain.
"You gave birth to me and raised me; I can't live alone. Don't worry; I'll bring Annabelle. We'll be there soon." Zelda turned around, humming a song, and packed up the meal into a lunchbox.
She tidied up while singing a childhood nursery rhyme.
She was indeed insane and had been for a long time.
"Hello, sis, where are you?" Thomson's phone rang, and Annabelle was calling.
On the other end, Annabelle's voice was urgent. "Where's Dad? Tell him to come to Capital Hospital! Hurry, that crazy woman Claire drugged me. I lost the baby."
Annabelle cursed resentfully, her voice hoarse.
Zelda's eyes lit up. She spoke softly, "Sis, don't worry. Wait for me at the hospital. I'll come see you right away."
With that, she hung up the phone.
During her time in the mental hospital, Zelda thought every day about how to escape and how to kill Annabelle.
Today, the opportunity finally came.
Annabelle's baby was lost. Knowing Claire wouldn't let her stay in the Douglas family, she couldn't just sit and wait.
"I'm calling the police!" Annabelle had her assistant take the cup of water when she went to the hospital.
Claire rushed into the ward anxiously. "Annabelle, let's talk this over."
Claire knew Annabelle was ready to go all out. "Annabelle, don't be impulsive. Mom didn't know it was Daniel's child. Let's talk things over. You can state your conditions."
Claire just wanted to calm Annabelle down first, then think of a solution.
Annabelle sneered. "I'm not in the mood today. You can leave."
Claire spoke with a gloomy face, "Fine, you rest well. When you're ready, we'll talk."
With that, Claire walked out of the ward.
Outside the ward, Daniel remained silent.
He was secretly pleased. It was better without that child, and he could easily get a divorce this way.
Howard's face was grim. "You better make sure no news harmful to the Douglas family gets out! Or else, you'll pay for it."
Claire shrank back in fear after Howard left, her eyes filled with gloom.
"I have to get rid of Annabelle. Let's go back first and see how Annabelle plans to use this to blackmail us." Claire snorted.
She knew Annabelle was no good.
Daniel couldn't wait to call Jasmine, but Jasmine didn't answer.
After thinking it over, Daniel decided to wait until he was completely divorced from Annabelle.
After all, Annabelle still held Arnold's secret. He had to be careful; he couldn't really fall out with her at this time.
As Daniel and Claire were about to enter the elevator, they saw Zelda humming a tune, looking quite pleased, carrying a lunchbox.
They snorted and ignored her.
Zelda entered the ward with a smile, instantly putting on a sorrowful expression. "Annabelle."
Annabelle frowned. "Where's Dad?"
"Dad's not feeling well. He said he'd come later. He asked me to bring you some food. You probably haven't eaten properly. How can you not eat?" Zelda served the soup and handed Annabelle the meal. "Sis, Mom and Dad have already tasted it. They said it was delicious and wanted you to try it, too."
Zelda added, "Our family should be together."
Annabelle sneered. "If you had this realization earlier, we wouldn't have been bullied to this extent."
Zelda sighed. "Annabelle, I didn't want this either. It was my fault before. Please eat."
Zelda propped her chin on her hand, smiling as she watched Annabelle eat.
Annabelle felt something was off with Zelda but didn't think much of it. She took a sip of the soup and a few bites of the food. "Claire has the nerve to harm my child!"
Zelda said calmly, "Maybe this is punishment."
"What did you say?" Annabelle paused, looking at Zelda.
"I said, maybe it's retribution," Zelda repeated.
"What do you mean?" Annabelle frowned.
"Back then, you tried to take Jasmine's life several times. You used so many means to harm others. Aren't you afraid of retribution?" Zelda spoke like a madwoman with an innocent look. "No matter how bad I am, I only hit and bullied people. I never wanted to take a life."
"Shut up," Annabelle said. "What nonsense are you spouting?"
"Annabelle, you will have to pay for it sooner or later." Zelda sighed.
Annabelle ignored Zelda. Having just had a miscarriage, her body was weak and in need of nutrition. Plus, she was indeed hungry, so she ate quite a bit.
"Sis, how could you bear to send me to a mental hospital?" Zelda asked resentfully, her tone heavy with grievance.
"You deserve it. Just be smart this time." Annabelle snorted.
"The key is, you even had people inside take special care of me. You wanted me to live in hell," Zelda questioned.
Annabelle said nothing.
Zelda sighed, got up, locked the ward door, and then disconnected the call bell, quietly waiting for the poison to take effect on Annabelle.
At Silverlight City University, Jasmine was reading in the small garden behind the library when a tall figure approached, blocking her light.
Jasmine looked up and saw it was Samuel.
"Do you... need something?" Jasmine asked.
Samuel frowned. "That day, you told me about the company's situation, and then nothing?"
Jasmine didn't even ask him for help.
"I advise you, don't play hard to get too much." Samuel arrogantly reminded Jasmine. "This small company is now under attack by the Douglas Group. How long can it last?"
"Do you have confidence?" Jasmine asked Samuel.
"What?" Samuel was taken aback.
"Do you have the confidence to fight the Douglas Group with me? If you think you have the ability, let's try together." Jasmine looked at Samuel seriously. "I believe in your ability, and I believe in myself."
Jasmine needed Samuel to join the company with her now because Deborah had already joined. Once Deborah, with her outstanding abilities, took key positions, the company would collapse without her in the future.
Jasmine would not give Deborah that chance.
