Chapter 865 Jasmine Solves Problems for Edgar
"Edgar, since you're a man, take responsibility for Lyanna," Rhett said in a low voice.
"I've never seen siblings as shameless as you two. If I had touched her, I'd let a car hit me when I go out," Edgar turned to look at Lyanna and spoke again. "Let me tell you, I will never get married in this life, and I certainly won't marry you."
Edgar was genuinely angry, and Cordelia understood him. She sighed. "Edgar, that's enough. You go back first, I'll handle this."
Edgar turned to leave.
Lyanna's eyes reddened, and she ran towards the window. "Edgar, if you leave, I'll jump from here."
Edgar paused for a moment, then looked back at Lyanna. "Are you an idiot? If you can open that window, go ahead and jump."
With that, he slammed the door and left.
Lyanna squatted on the ground and burst into tears.
Rhett was very angry and looked at Cordelia. "Mrs. Cunningham, although our families don't have many direct dealings, we're still in the same circle. Your son did this to Lyanna, and it's hard for my family to explain. You know my father's temper; he's not as easygoing as I am."
Seeing Cordelia remain silent, Rhett spoke again. "Lyanna is my father's most beloved daughter. My mother died in childbirth when she had Lyanna. She is precious. You should give us an explanation."
Cordelia frowned. "Mr. Murray, name a price."
Edgar refused to get married, and Cordelia would never force him.
Rhett sneered. "Mrs. Cunningham, do you take us, the Murray family, for beggars? Money? Do you really think only the Cunningham family has money?"
"Either Edgar marries Lyanna, or I'll blow this up to the point where no one can handle it," Rhett said in a low voice.
Lyanna was still crying. "Mrs. Cunningham, I really like Edgar. I want to to marry him. I didn't expect him to treat me like this."
"Mrs. Cunningham. I heard your husband has a new family outside. Women should understand and sympathize with each other, right? Lyanna is also our family's treasure. Since you've suffered from irresponsibility, you should take responsibility," Rhett said in a low voice, his words very harsh.
Cordelia's fingers clenched. Rhett's words were really unpleasant.
"The door was slammed open from the outside, and Jasmine walked in, panting.
She had received a call from the nanny and heard about the situation.
Cordelia had been resting for a while, and Rhett didn't contact anyone else in the Cunningham family, coming straight to Cordelia. His intentions were very clear.
"Mr. Murray. I'm Jasmine, Edgar's sister. If you have any issues, talk to me. My mother is old and not in good health. You'd better be careful. If my mother gets upset or has any accidents, no matter how rich the Murray family is, you can't afford to compensate," Jasmine said in a deep voice, signaling the nanny to take Cordelia away. "Mom, you go back first. I'll handle this."
Cordelia nodded, trusting Jasmine to handle it. Jasmine and Nolan were the two steady ones in the family, and they wouldn't make mistakes.
Rhett looked at Jasmine and frowned. "When an elder is speaking, you, as a junior, shouldn't interrupt. Besides, you were only found after being lost for so many years. The matters of your family are not for you to decide, right?"
"An elder? Do you really consider yourself as an elder? If you like to position yourself so much, I'll place you in the square after you die," Jasmine sneered. "Rhett, since I am polite to you, do you think you can push your luck?"
Jasmine was full of anger. The Cunningham family's issues with the Hughes family were already troubling her, and now Rhett was causing more problems.
"You sure have a big mouth. But without Ethan, what are you?" Rhett said coldly.
"Before you talk about others, look in the mirror at yourself," Jasmine wanted to retort like Betty, but thinking about it, so she let it go.
"Jasmine, if this is the Cunningham family's attitude, I don't think there's any need to continue this conversation," Rhett said, looking at Lyanna. "Let's go home!"
Lyanna was still crying and fussing. "No, Edgar has to marry me. He selpt with me, why shouldn't he take responsibility?"
"Just state your purpose. Let's not make this unpleasant," Jasmine's anger subsided, and she looked at Rhett calmly.
Rhett grabbed Lyanna. "Have Edgar or your mother talk to me. Either Edgar marries Lyanna, or I'll blow this up and make it a hot topic."
Rhett was clearly targeting the Cunningham family.
The Cunningham family was indeed in the spotlight now, and Rhett's sister clearly wasn't worried about getting married. He was doing this for one reason: to fight a public opinion battle with the Cunningham family.
"Has the Murray family set their sights on the Cunningham family's business in Silverlight City?" Jasmine smiled, exposing Rhett's intentions.
Rhett looked at Jasmine with cold eyes, not denying it.
Jasmine turned to look outside the door. "Come in! Handle the mess you made yourself!"
Outside the door, Edgar, who had been forcibly brought back by Jasmine and didn't dare to leave, snorted but didn't enter.
When Cordelia left, she was also surprised. Edgar, who didn't care about anyone when he was angry, was standing obediently in the hallway like a child being punished.
Indeed, in their family, everyone had someone who could restrain them.
Jasmine, the sister, was the nemesis of her three brothers.
"Did you hear me, Edgar!" Jasmine shouted angrily.
Edgar walked in with a resentful look, head down, and stood beside Jasmine.
"Did you make love to her? Tell the truth!" Jasmine scolded.
Edgar, head down, looked very aggrieved. "I didn't. I was too drunk last night to take care of myself. How could I have touched her..."
Jasmine then looked at Rhett. "Edgar was too drunk to take care of himself last night. How did he get to the hotel? And how did he end up in Ms. Murray's bed? Mr. Murray, you can't just switch genders and try to turn the tables. If Edgar were a woman and Ms. Murray a man, this would already be a criminal offense!"
Rhett frowned at Jasmine, not expecting she to be so sharp-tongued.
"Rhett..." Lyanna was a bit panicked.
"Take that story to the reporters and see if anyone believes you," Rhett said, pulling Lyanna towards the door.
"Don't go," Jasmine raised her hand to stop Rhett. "I've already called the police. The police will take Ms. Murray for an examination. If it proves she has been violated and it matches Edgar's DNA, then you can decide how to handle it. If he refuses to marry, our whole family won't agree. But if not, and Ms. Murray is slandering, then Mr. Murray, you owe the Cunningham family an explanation."
Rhett's face instantly darkened. "Jasmine!"
Lyanna panicked too, shaking her head. "Rhett... I don't want to be examined."
