Chapter 1001 The Connection Between Family Members

Christmas was just a few days away.

Hannah got injured, and with that incident, she naturally quit her job at KFC to focus on recuperating at home.

The next day.

Lassie and Carter prepared a lot of supplements to visit Hannah in the hospital. Fortunately, they called Charles before leaving to ask about the hospital and room number; otherwise, they would have gone in vain.

Upon learning that Hannah had moved to Charles's house, they took Shirley and went directly to Charles's house with the supplements.

On the way, they received a call from Austin, who was also worried about Hannah and planned to visit her.

The four of them agreed to meet in the parking lot, park their cars, and go together.

Hannah was bruised all over, with hardly a spot unscathed. Even her legs weren't spared; her entire body was covered in injuries.

Charles took care of her like she was gravely ill, not allowing her to get out of bed and staying by her side constantly, feeding her and giving her water, only stopping short of helping her to the bathroom.

He was so attentive, afraid she might get hurt again.

Hannah said, "You really don't have to do this. It's just external injuries, nothing serious."

But the pain on her face and body was worse than yesterday.

The wounds were still a bit numb yesterday, but after a night, the pain returned to normal, making it hurt more than yesterday.

However, she didn't dare to tell Charles, fearing he would overreact.

Charles replied, "I have nothing else to do anyway. If I don't take care of you, what else would I do?"

Hannah was momentarily speechless. "You can do something else! If nothing else, play some games."

Charles smiled. "Playing games isn't as fun as taking care of you! I just like being with you, even if we don't talk. Just watching you makes me feel at ease."

Hannah said, "But, I... I feel uncomfortable."

Who would want to be stared at all day?

Charles retorted, "How could you feel uncomfortable! Do whatever you need to do, sleeping when you're tired, or lying in bed and playing on your phone, watching short videos, you..."

Before Charles could finish, the doorbell rang.

Hannah seemed to see a savior and quickly said, "Go open the door!"

Finally, someone came to distract Charles.

She never knew he could be so clingy.

Charles knew her little thoughts, patted her head affectionately, and got up to open the door.

Seeing the many supplements they brought, Charles felt a bit embarrassed. "You didn't have to go to such trouble. I would have bought these for Hannah."

Carter laughed. "It was Shirley. She insisted on buying them, almost emptying the store. Besides, Hannah ended up like this because of Violet. Let us make it up to her! Otherwise, I will feel guilty for the rest of my life."

Shirley squeezed to the front, her eyes searching for Hannah. "Where's Hannah? Where is she?"

She missed Hannah so much after just one night.

Charles replied, "She's resting in the room! I'll take you in."

Saying that, Charles led them to the master bedroom.

Lassie hesitated. "Will we disturb her rest?"

Charles smiled. "No! She just had breakfast and is playing on her phone."

Following Charles, Lassie thought of Violet's actions and worried. "She probably doesn't want to see us, right? Violet hurt her so badly."

Charles comforted, "No! This has nothing to do with you. Hannah is clear about right and wrong; she won't hold it against you."

Saying that, he opened the door.

Shirley was the first to rush to the bed, jumping on it and hugging Hannah's arm excitedly. "Hannah, I finally see you again. I missed you so much."

Hannah patted her little head and said, "I missed you too! Did you sleep well after going home yesterday?"

Shirley pouted and shook her head. "No, not at all! I like sleeping with you."

Hannah chuckled and looked at Lassie and the others, politely saying, "Lassie, Carter, Austin, thank you for coming to see me. Please, have a seat."

Lassie, Carter, and Austin finally saw Hannah clearly.

Although her hair was neatly combed, her face was very swollen, with clear red finger marks on it.

Her mouth was also injured, with a thin scab forming.

Her exposed neck was bruised and scratched, looking shocking.

Seeing Hannah, whom he cherished so much, harmed by Violet, Austin couldn't help but clench his fists.

Austin thought, 'I should have killed Violet yesterday. If not kill, at least severely hurt her. How could she harm Hannah like this? Damn it.'

Lassie felt a sudden pain in her heart.

She didn't know why, but even though the injuries were on Hannah, it felt like they were on her, making her chest feel heavy and uncomfortable.

Lassie said, "Hannah, I'm sorry. I apologize on behalf of Violet. She went too far this time. You can blame and hate her. We understand, and we don't expect you to forgive her."

Hannah curiously asked, "You don't want me to forgive her?"

Wasn't everyone who apologized seeking forgiveness?

Lassie shook her head. "She went too far. Apologizing is the right thing to do, and it's also right if you don't forgive her! We won't force you."

Hannah looked at Lassie, a bit surprised.

How could such a reasonable mother have a daughter like Violet?

Lassie continued, "I bought you some supplements! You're injured all over. If I had known you were hurt this badly, I would have bought some ointment."

Hannah nonchalantly said, "It's okay! These injuries will heal in a week at most, and they won't leave scars. It's not a big deal! You don't need to feel guilty. This is Violet's fault, not yours. You shouldn't bear the responsibility."

Lassie was moved to tears and couldn't help but hold Hannah's hand.

Hannah didn't avoid it, letting her hold it.

At the moment their hands touched, both felt a strange sensation, as if something was flowing through their bodies.

It was a foreign feeling, but they didn't reject it. Instead, they liked it and even wanted to explore it further.

They were both stunned, looking at each other in disbelief.

After a while, Lassie found her voice, surprised, "Why do I feel so close to Hannah, like I've seen her before?"

Austin hadn't taken his eyes off Hannah since entering the room. Hearing Lassie's words, he was shocked.

The bond of blood was truly a mysterious thing.

Even after seven years, the connection still existed. Just a light touch could trigger a response.
