Chapter 67 The Secret Almost Discovered

Upon seeing Martin approach, Fannie's heart skipped a beat in shock.

She hastily took the menu from the cashier and, at the last moment when Martin was getting closer, she pulled Randy to join the queue to buy pancakes.

Martin's gaze inadvertently swept over them, and he suddenly noticed something. His eyes widened, and he looked towards where Randy was, only to see two figures disappearing into the crowd.

His brow unconsciously furrowed. He instinctively lifted his foot to go find them. But just as he took a step forward, a figure blocked his way.

Jade purposely acted as if it was a chance encounter. "Martin, what are you doing here?"

Recalling their unpleasant encounter at the amusement park, Martin's face slightly darkened. "This is a restaurant. What do you think I would be here?"

His sarcastic tone made Jade grit her teeth, and the smile on her face almost couldn't hold up.

If she weren't afraid of him discovering Fannie and Charles, she truly wouldn't want to say a word to him.

"I heard Patricia got injured and is hospitalized. I was just about to visit her and happened to run into you," Jade said.

"She's in the emergency observation room!" Martin replied casually, taking out his wallet and saying to the cashier, "Cheese mushroom soup, sunny-side-up eggs, and panini."

After paying, he took the menu and prepared to place the order.

Jade looked towards Fannie and Randy who were hiding in the crowd. Fannie kept making gestures to her, signaling for her to find a way to get Martin to leave.

Jade sighed, not understanding how things had come to this.

But given the urgent situation, she didn't have time to sympathize. She snatched the menu from Martin's hand. "I remember Patricia said you have a germ phobia! This kind of place isn't suitable for you. Let me handle it! You should go back to the hospital!"

Martin looked puzzled.

Jade pretended to remain calm and rolled her eyes.

"Don't worry, it's not for you! I'm worried that Patricia is alone at the hospital with no one to take care of her, so you hurry back to the hospital!"

Martin glanced at the crowd, furrowed his brow slightly, and decisively accepted her proposal.

"Alright! I'll go back to the hospital first. Thanks."

Jade breathed a sigh of relief and waved with a smile. "No problem, it's not trouble! You go back first and tell Patricia that I'll go see her soon."

"Okay!" Martin nodded, turned around, and left without looking back.

Jade watched his figure until he crossed the street, and only then did her tense nerves suddenly relax. She sat down exhaustedly on a nearby chair.

Jane, who had been secretly observing the situation from afar, walked over with the pancake she had bought, and gave Jade a thumbs up. "Jade, you're amazing."

"Jade?" Randy looked at her in astonishment.

"Isn't she your mommy?"

Fannie blurted out, her eyes darting around before she quickly said, "That's what my mom meant. You see, my mom got pregnant with my brother and me when she was less than twenty years old and unmarried. In order to not let us hinder her from finding a husband, she instructed us not to call her 'mommy' but to call her Jade instead."

Feeling unjustly labeled as irresponsible, Jade responded with confusion, "...??"

Randy frowned, disagreeing, "This is deceitful behavior! If a man truly loves your mother, he wouldn't mind her having children. If the first lie is told, countless more lies would be needed to perpetuate the first one. Moreover, the foundation of a marriage should be built on honesty and trust."

Jade replied with a puzzled expression, "...??"

Fannie followed his words by saying, "Yes, Randy is right! Don't worry, when we go back, I will properly educate my mother and make her an honest woman."

"Ha-ha..." Jade forced a laugh.

If possible, she really wanted to strangle this troublemaker who was ruining her reputation.

"You guys eat first, I'll go buy breakfast!"

Not wanting to be provoked by them, Jade stood in line with the menu to buy breakfast.

After buying breakfast, she reminded them to wait here and not wander around, then she took the breakfast to the observation room in the emergency department to find Patricia.

Upon seeing Patricia's almost ruined face, Jade became instantly furious.

"That damn Debbie, she's so vicious! She actually tortured you like this! No, I have to skin her alive."

After saying that, she rolled up her sleeves and was about to go find Debbie, but Charles stopped her.

"I have already avenged Mommy; you don't need to go."

Jade asked, "How did you take revenge?"

Charles explained the whole story.

After listening, although Jade felt somewhat relieved, she still couldn't let go of her anger, "Just feeding them laxatives is letting them off too easily! They should have their skin peeled off!"

Charles glanced at Martin, hinting at something, "Don't worry, my dad is selfless. If it's confirmed that they caused Mommy to suffer like this, he will definitely seek revenge for her!"

Martin puzzled, "...??"

Why does he feel like Randy is setting a trap for him to fall into?

Jade pouted and sneered, "He's selfless? If he were really selfless, he wouldn't have been deceived by that cunning bitch Debbie and abandoned his wife and child!"

Martin's mouth twitched, "..."

Charles, as if not noticing his distorted handsome face, smiled and said, "Although my dad is a bastard, he still has a conscience! I have confidence in him, he won't let Debbie and Manda go."

"You're right, he is indeed a bastard!" Of all the words said, Jade only absorbed the first one.

A twitch appeared on Martin's forehead, unable to bear it any longer. He coughed lightly and interrupted their conversation, "The breakfast will get cold, better eat it now!"

Charles was about to eat when Jade grabbed him, "Forget about eating, come with me for a moment,"

"I have something to tell you,” she said.

Without waiting for Charles' response, she pulled him out of the hospital room.

"......??" Martin was full of confusion.

If he guessed correctly, Randy and Jade had only met once at the amusement park, right?

Why did they seem so familiar?

Randy was cold and distant, not the type to be affectionate with someone he had only met once.

As suspicion started to creep in, Patricia, fearing that Martin would notice something was amiss, quickly said, "Sometimes I take Randy and Jade out for a meal. Jade even wants to treat him like a godson, so they've become close."

"Oh!"

Even so, Martin felt that something wasn't quite right, but he couldn't articulate why.

On the other side, Jade pulled Charles out of the hospital room, poking his forehead and angrily saying, "Didn't you say you would just come for a while? Do you know how long it's been? If you don't go back soon, Fannie won't hold up."

Charles stuck out his tongue playfully, "I was originally planning to leave after a while! But I accidentally got delayed when I ran into Debbie and Manda. I'll leave now, you go back and tell that jerk dad that I went to the bathroom, and when Randy comes, you stay by his side so he doesn't slip up."

"Okay!"

Jade gestured at him.

Reluctantly, Charles took one last glance at Patricia's room and turned around to run away.

Returning to the flower bed where his clothes were hidden, he prepared himself and sent a message to Fannie.

"I'm leaving. Randy can go back now. I'll wait for you in Jade's car."

Fannie immediately replied with a crying face emoji, "Charles, you finally finished! I've tried everything to keep Randy, and if you don't come out soon, I won't be able to hold on."

Charles sent back a head-patting emoji.

After finishing the chat with Charles, Fannie put away her phone and sweetly smiled at Randy, "Randy, I'm full now. You can go back! I'll come play with you next time."

Finishing her sentence, she extended her pinky finger towards Randy, "Randy, let's pinky swear that you won't tell anyone about our meeting today!"

Randy asked in confusion, "Why?"

Fannie mysteriously said, "It's our secret. I don't want others to know."

Without much thought, Randy nodded in agreement.

"Okay, I won't tell anyone about us meeting today!"

Fannie happily gave him a peck on the cheek, saying, "I like you the most, Randy!"

Randy’s face turned bright red. He lowered his head, shyly changing the topic, "Weren't you here to see my mommy?"

Fannie froze for a moment, then chuckled awkwardly, "My mommy just messaged me. She has some urgent matters to attend to at work, so I have to go back with her. I'll come see her next time."

Randy didn't doubt her, and he hopped off the chair, saying, "Alright then! Where is your mommy now? I'll take you to her first before you leave."

Fannie immediately shook her head and refused, "No need, I will wait for her here! You're in a hurry, you go first!"

Randy glanced around and saw that there were surveillance cameras in the shop, so it should be fine. He nodded and left.

Relieved that he finally left, Fannie let out a sigh of relief, supporting her chin with both hands. She watched Randy walk away through the glass window before rushing to the parking lot to meet Charles.
