Chapter 1120 Interrogating Quentin and Lisa
In an instant, Austin saw Quentin and Lisa being dragged in by two bodyguards. They were not cooperating at all, screaming and struggling desperately, trying to escape.
Because of their special status, the bodyguards didn't dare to hit them. They could only forcibly hold one arm each and rudely drag them in backward.
Because they struggled so much, their shoes had long disappeared, and their heels were scraped raw, leaving a long trail of blood on the ground.
The first person they saw was Martin, and their eyes lit up. Quentin hurriedly said, "Mr. Langley, for the sake of us almost becoming in-laws, please let us go! Over the years, although we haven't treated Hannah very well, we did raise her to this age! Please don't hurt us."
Lisa nodded frantically. "Yes, as long as you let us go, we promise to return Hannah to you and leave Sunset Bay forever, never to come back."
Quentin added, "As long as you let us go, we'll return everything Charles gave us! We won't take another penny from the Langley family."
Hearing Quentin say he would return the car, house, and bank cards that Charles had given them, Lisa panicked instantly. "No, we can't return them. If we give them back, what will we do in the future? We don't have a penny in savings; how will we live?"
Quentin was almost driven mad by her. "At a time like this, you're still thinking about money. If we don't save our lives, what's the use of having so much money?"
Thinking about losing the luxury car, the big house, and the unlimited bank card, Lisa started crying sadly.
"If I had known it would come to this, we wouldn't have come here in the first place! If we hadn't come, Hannah wouldn't have run away. If she hadn't run away, she wouldn't have had the car accident. If she hadn't had the car accident, we would still be her parents!"
"It's all your fault for insisting on coming here. Now look, Hannah is no longer our daughter, the car is gone, the house is gone, the money is gone. How are we supposed to live? We might as well be dead!" She was really regretting it now.
They were living well in Country D, enjoying a carefree life. Why did they have to come to Sunset Bay? Why did they have to try to please Hannah?
Knowing that Hannah rejected them, they should have found an excuse to go back then. But they had messed things up to this point.
Quentin's face was ashen. He obviously agreed with Lisa, but he couldn't say it out loud.
They were used to living the good life, and suddenly going back to having no money and renting a place would be like living in hell.
Moreover, Hannah used to work and help support them. Now that Hannah had left their family, and with his poor health, he couldn't go out to earn money. The family would have to rely on Lisa's work, which wouldn't be enough!
Even if they survived today, their future life would be miserable.
Just as they were in despair, Lisa saw Charles.
The moment she saw Charles, Lisa somehow managed to break free, either because she was too strong, too excited, or the bodyguards let their guard down. She crawled to Charles, hugging his legs and begging for mercy.
"Charles! I know you're very angry and don't want to see us again! But please, for the sake of us raising Hannah for eight years, let us go! I can return the car, the house, and the bank cards to you."
"But can you leave us a little money? Hannah's father is in poor health and can't work. I'm old and can't earn much in a month! Oliver still needs to go to school. Hannah's father needs medical treatment and medicine. If you don't give us some money, our family really won't survive!"
"I admit we've wronged Hannah a lot, but Oliver has always loved Hannah like a real sister. Their relationship has always been good. Please give us a way to live!"
After hearing her words, Lassie suddenly rushed over and slapped her hard across the face.
"Shut up! What right do you have to call yourselves Hannah's parents? I am Hannah's biological mother. You are nothing but liars and parasites! Let me tell you, you can forget about using Hannah to get another penny."
"For the past eight years, you've almost drained her of all her value. Now she's lying in the ICU, still in critical condition, and you don't care about her at all. Instead, you want to extract the last bit of value from her. You are not human; you don't deserve to be Hannah's parents."
Lassie put all her strength into that slap. Lisa was knocked to the ground, half of her face numb with pain, her ears ringing.
Lisa was completely stunned. She held her aching face, staring blankly at the furious Lassie, too scared to say another word.
Quentin seemed to have turned into a mute, not struggling, letting the bodyguards throw him in front of Austin.
Charles looked down at them, pointing to Austin, and said expressionlessly, "Do you know him?"
Quentin and Lisa followed his finger. When they saw Austin's face clearly, they answered in unison.
Quentin said yes. But Lisa, too guilty and scared, her mind blank, seeing Austin being held by bodyguards, afraid their deeds would be exposed, forgot about Austin and Hannah's engagement and instinctively said no.
The air froze for a moment. Charles's thin lips curled into a mocking smile. "You don't know him?"
He had just asked casually to start the conversation. Unexpectedly, he got such a foolish answer from Lisa. Indeed, those who did bad things had a guilty conscience.
Quentin glared at Lisa, wanting to laugh but looking worse than crying. "Lisa, are you out of your mind? How could you not know him? He's Austin. He almost became Hannah's husband."
Lisa finally realized. Hannah and Austin were engaged. If Charles hadn't appeared in time, they might have been married by now! How could she have said she didn't know him? Wasn't that clearly showing her guilty conscience?
She gave Charles a sheepish smile, her eyes flickering with guilt, not daring to meet Charles's sharp gaze.
"I was just confused from the slap, my mind wasn't clear, and I answered wrong! I know him. Isn't he Hannah's ex-fiancé? If you hadn't appeared then, he would be Hannah's husband now!"
"Really?" Charles deliberately stretched the word.
His smile deepened. "Then tell me, how did you meet? How did he and Hannah meet? What is his connection to your family?"
