Chapter 812 Ambiguous Relationship

Everyone thought they’d heard wrong.

Especially Gordon, who tilted his head and asked again, "What did you just say?"

Charles put his hand on Hannah's shoulder and said, clear and strong, "I said I was the one who helped her."

Everyone was floored.

Gordon's face went sour, and his muscles twitched.

Hannah was stunned. She looked at Charles, eyes wide, totally in disbelief.

"You..." She was so shocked she couldn't even finish a sentence.

Gordon tried to smile, but it came out all wrong.

"Charles, you gotta be kidding, right?" Gordon asked.

How could Gordon have introduced Hannah?

Gordon always hated people who got into the company through connections.

That’s why he felt free to mess with Hannah.

He never thought Charles had actually set her up.

Charles looked at him, stone-faced, and said coldly, "Do you think I'm joking?"

Charles said calmly, "Since you can't handle her here, I'll take her away."

Then he looked at Hannah, his tone softening a bit, "Elizabeth Jones is on maternity leave. Starting today, you'll take her place as my executive assistant."

Gordon stammered, "Charles, she's from the journalism department. That's not really a fit."

If Hannah became Charles's assistant...

Then Gordon would be lower on the totem pole.

Any documents for Charles would have to go through her.

If she decided to make things tough, he'd be in a bind.

Hannah was stunned, and Gordon's words made her panic. She waved her hands frantically, "No, no, I majored in journalism. It's a whole different ballgame. I might mess it up."

Charles laughed, a genuine laugh.

Anyone else would be thrilled to be his executive assistant.

Her quick refusal was a surprise.

"I believe in you! Wyatt will show you the ropes. If you have questions, ask him! If you're still stuck, come to me! I'm easy on newbies," Charles said.

Hannah was deeply moved.

The tears she’d just stopped started welling up again.

But this time, it was out of gratitude.

She knew Charles was standing up for her.

When you're getting bullied by everyone, having someone in your corner feels amazing.

Especially when that person barely knows you.

It made her feel like there are still good people out there.

Gordon's eyes darted between Charles and Hannah, realizing something. He quickly lowered his head and said, "Charles, I'm sorry. I didn't know you set her up! I'll get her work right away."

Charles raised his hand to stop him.

"No need!" Charles said.

Then he gave Hannah a look and walked away, saying, "Follow me!"

Hannah glanced at Gordon, whose face was twisted, then looked at her other colleagues and quickly followed Charles out.

Thinking of her colleagues' ugly expressions just now, her little vanity was greatly satisfied.

Seeing their eyes almost pop out, she couldn't help but want to laugh.

She was now the CEO's executive assistant.

Even if it wasn't her field, it was still a promotion.

From now on, they'd have to think twice about how they treated her.

Just thinking about it made her happy.

She never thought she had such a strong sense of revenge; it was all because they pushed her.

Charles walked to the door and raised his voice, "Everyone starts as a newbie. I don't discriminate against newbies."

He said it loud enough for everyone to hear.

Everyone in the department heard it loud and clear.

Their faces instantly changed.

Hannah stood at the door, turned her head, glared at them proudly, and then followed Charles with a smile.

What now? They had pissed off Charles. In the future, they were definitely in trouble. If they had known she was Charles's person, they would have built a good relationship with her and would have been promoted quickly. Now, it was terrible. Not only could they not get promoted, but they might also get fired. How could Charles have arranged Hannah? What was their relationship? Just now, Charles's look at Hannah seemed different from usual. Could they be in that kind of relationship? But no! There was no love in Charles's eyes! So what was their relationship? It was driving them crazy! What could they do to ease the current situation?

The entire PR department was shrouded in despair.

But Hannah was the opposite.

Following Charles out of the PR department, she felt utterly relieved.

"Thank you. I would have been wronged if it weren't for you just now." Hannah said.

Charles smiled but said nothing.

Hannah quickened her pace to catch up with him and said, "I'm telling you, everything I said just now is true. Gordon wanted to have sex with me! Someone like him, if he stays in the company, will damage the company's reputation."

Charles sneered, "Do you know why I didn't fire him?"

Hannah blinked, "No!"

Charles said, "Firing someone requires a reason! And what you said is just your word, without concrete evidence."

Hannah thought he was saying she was falsely accusing Gordon and immediately said, "What I said is true. I didn't falsely accuse him. He really wanted to take advantage of me! Although I was drunk yesterday, I remember everything."

Charles suddenly stopped and looked at her thoughtfully,"I believe you!"

Hannah was stunned.

When he looked into her eyes and said he believed her, her heart beat irregularly.

This version of him was even more charming than the arrogant man she interviewed that day.

She had never seen a man like this.

Really, it was hard not to be moved.

Seeing her not speaking, Charles continued, "Although I believe you, I can't expose it directly! Do you understand what I mean?"

Hannah didn't really understand.

But she still nodded.

She didn't know why.

She just believed him.

Believed him without any reason.

Seeing her dumbfounded look, Charles was confused, as if he saw Violet again, and couldn't help but reach out and ruffle her hair.

Hannah was utterly stunned.

Her heart raced.

This feeling was both familiar and strange.

It seemed to have happened before.

But she was sure it hadn't.

What was wrong with her?

Charles realized what he had done and was stunned. He immediately withdrew his hand awkwardly and apologized, "Sorry!"

Hannah blushed and shook her head, indicating she didn't mind.

Charles turned around in frustration and entered the CEO's private elevator.

Hannah immediately followed him in.

The two of them didn't speak again.

There were only two of them in the elevator.

The atmosphere suddenly became strange.

Thread static buffer is already in use.
