Chapter 645 Kaleb Disappeared

Patricia returned to the hospital room.

She was afraid Martin would notice something was amiss, so she adjusted her emotions, trying hard to appear as if nothing had happened.

Seeing her return, Ryan glanced at the time on his watch and exclaimed, "Patricia, why are you here at this time?"

Normally, Patricia's schedule was very regular.

Morning, noon, and night were all spent studying medicine with Kaleb.

She always arrived at fixed times.

But today was very strange.

The morning medication was delivered by a servant from the Taylor Residence.

Patricia didn't show up.

And at this moment, Patricia shouldn't have arrived yet, but she suddenly did.

After Martin's reminder, Patricia suddenly realized her mistake. "Oh, I forgot! I'll go get Martin's medicine now."

She was so worried about Kaleb that she forgot such an important task of getting Martin's medicine.

Patricia always prioritized Martin's matters, and in all these days, she had never forgotten anything.

Not to mention Martin, even Ryan noticed that something was off.

As Patricia was about to leave, Martin immediately called out to her, "Patricia."

Patricia stopped in her tracks and looked at him.

"What is it?"

Martin lifted the blanket off the bed, walked slowly to Patricia, and held her hands in his palms. "Tell me, what's going on?"

He didn't ask if something had happened.

Instead, he directly asked what had happened.

Because he was sure something must have happened.

Patricia didn't want him to worry, so she shook her head and said, "I'm fine! Mr. Reed takes good care of me. With his help, everything will be fine."

Martin kissed her hands gently and said, "I am your husband! Tell me, what's really going on? I don't want to be in the dark when something is wrong with you! Even if I can't solve it for you, I can share the burden with you. We are a couple, we should share both joy and sorrow."

Patricia understood Martin's feelings.

If she were in his shoes, she would also want to know if something was wrong. Otherwise, she would only worry more.

"Kaleb knows!" she blurted out.

At first, Ryan didn't react, and subconsciously asked, "Knows what?"

But Martin understood and furrowed his brows slightly, "He knows? How did he find out?"

"This morning, Joe came to see him, and then he found out."

Patricia explained the whole situation to Martin.

"Martin, I'm sorry, I messed things up!"

After hearing Patricia's story, Ryan's only reaction was, "What do we do now? Martin's treatment is halfway through, at a critical moment. If he doesn't continue treating Martin, will Martin deteriorate again?"

He had just seen a glimmer of hope.

He couldn't bear to see it shattered again.

"Is that the most important thing now?" Martin looked at him coldly.

"It's not the most important thing? People are selfish. No matter what happens, I definitely want you to get better quickly. As for the rest, I don't care." Ryan ran his hands through his hair.

His words made Martin hesitate to continue blaming him.

Patricia lowered her head. "Ryan is right! Kaleb said that in your current condition, treatment can only be slow and lengthy. But you've only been treated for half a month! There's been a slight improvement."

Upon hearing this, Ryan became nervous. "What do we do now? Should we apologize to Kaleb and ask him to continue treating Martin? Can we?"

Patricia shook her head. "It's useless! He's very angry with me now! I deceived him, pretending to be his daughter, and the curse came true, Margaret and their son had a car accident and died on the spot."

Kaleb now hated her and wouldn't continue treating Martin.

Martin asked softly, "Has he found Margaret and their child? Did Joe find them?"

Since Maximilian found Patricia pretending to be Kaleb's daughter, he definitely wouldn't continue searching. Even if he did continue, even if he found them, he wouldn't tell Kaleb in that way.

And Patricia mentioned that Joe went to see Kaleb this morning.

Putting it all together, it could only be Joe who found them.

"It should be! Now Margaret and their child died because of me, he hates me, how could he continue treating Martin."

Ryan became anxious and asked eagerly, "What do we do now? Patricia, you've been studying with Kaleb for so long, even if he doesn't treat Martin, can't you do it?"

This made Patricia even more upset.

"I have indeed learned a lot from him! But medicine is vast and profound, and many people may not master it even in a lifetime. Not to mention someone like me who has only studied for half a month."

She paused for a moment and continued, "Moreover, Martin's medication is not fixed; it will be adjusted according to his recovery. A few days ago, Kaleb told me that the medication would need adjustments later on. I don't know how to do all of this. Today, Kaleb just changed Martin's medication. From my observation, this prescription will need adjustments in at most four days."

If it was not adjusted, Martin could continue taking the original medication.

But it definitely wouldn't be beneficial for his recovery.

And if he kept taking it, she had no idea what would happen later.

"What do we do?" Ryan was getting anxious. "Can we find another doctor? We can't just sit and wait, can we?"

Patricia remained silent.

She had considered this suggestion on her way here.

She kept all the names of the medications used to treat Martin!

But if another doctor could do what Kaleb could, why bother coming to Kaleb?

And if another doctor couldn't, what should they do?

Patricia felt conflicted.

She felt extremely torn.

She felt both guilty towards Kaleb and worried about Martin.

She felt very distressed.

Martin comforted Patricia by patting her shoulder. "Don't worry, I'll go with you to apologize to Kaleb later! My health has improved a lot now. If Kaleb doesn't want to treat me, then so be it!"

Patricia's eyes welled up with tears. "So be it? How can we just give up at this point? We've come this far, and you want me to give up helplessly? I can't do it!"

Martin hugged her and gently patted her back. "Margaret had an accident because of this, Kaleb must be in a lot of pain now. We can't be so selfish, let's not force him to save me!"

"I know what you're saying makes sense, but what about you?"

But she couldn't bear to watch Martin die helplessly.

Just then, Patricia's phone rang.

It was a call from Maximilian.

She pulled away from Martin's embrace, exchanged a glance with Martin, answered the call, and put it to her ear.

Anxious voices came from the other end of the line. "Kaleb is missing, did he come to see you?"

Patricia's breath caught. "What? Kaleb is missing?"

Upon hearing her response, Maximilian knew that his uncle hadn't gone to see Patricia.

"Just now, Uncle said he was hungry and asked me to buy him some food! When I returned to the ward, he was gone! I thought he went to see you."

"Don't worry, I'll go over now!" Patricia reassured him.

Maximilian initially wanted to refuse, but fearing that Patricia would go alone, he agreed.

After ending the call, Patricia prepared to leave.

Martin grabbed her wrist. "Should I go with you?"

Patricia smiled. "Your task now is to recover! Your condition has improved a lot, don't strain yourself. Besides, this is Maximilian's domain, so there is ne need for you to take on any additional burdens."

Knowing that she was most worried about his health, Martin didn't insist and didn't insist on going with her.

Patricia instructed Ryan, "Go to Kaleb's house, find the old butler, and get the medicine! It's all packed by Kaleb! Bring it to the hospital for Martin to take later!"

Although the medicine may not be as effective.

But the situation was special now, so they could only do this for the time being.

"Okay! I got it!" Ryan said.

After giving clear instructions, Patricia hurriedly left.
