Chapter 1099 Dispute

Violet saw it but didn't react at all. She indifferently threw the last two pieces of clothing into the suitcase, zipped it up, locked it, and walked straight out the door.

Lassie tried to get up from the floor, but a sharp pain shot through her lower back. Watching Violet's figure disappear from the room, she felt both disappointed and heartbroken.

Violet had no feelings for her at all. If the Moore family wasn't one of the three major families in Sunset Bay, Violet probably wouldn't even look at her.

When she first came home, Violet pretended to be obedient and well-behaved.

Ever since Charles exposed her true nature in Country D, Violet had shown her true colors and stopped pretending.

Violet stayed in this house only to cause trouble. Now Violet had even laid hands on her.

Lassie had completely given up on Violet as a daughter and no longer held any hope.

However, until things were clarified, Violet couldn't leave. She absolutely couldn't let Violet continue to act recklessly.

Enduring the severe pain, Lassie held onto the edge of the bed and struggled to get up from the floor. She staggered out and finally caught up with Violet at the door, grabbing her suitcase to prevent her from leaving.

"No matter what happened, we should find a way to solve it, not run away! Running away won't solve any problems."Violet was already impatient with her. "Let go!"

Lassie refused to let go, stubbornly saying, "I may not know what happened, but no matter what, I will face it with you."

Violet sneered, her tone sharp, "Face it? How? With what? You can't even make me stay with Charles, so what makes you think you can face other difficulties with me?"

Lassie explained, "Charles is a person, not an object! He has his own thoughts. He doesn't like you; what can I do about it?"

But Violet wouldn't listen to a word. "You all just look down on me! You look down on me because I didn't go to school, because I'm uneducated, because you think I'm not good enough for Charles! It's all your fault! It's your incompetence that left me unprotected when I was young, leading to me being kidnapped by traffickers and wandering alone for seven years."

"If it weren't for those seven lost years, how could Charles have fallen for someone else, looking for a substitute who looks like me? If Hannah didn't look like me, how could she have caught Charles's attention, making him fall for her completely? It's all your fault, all of it! I hate you all! I hate you so much! I am the way I am now because of you!"

Lassie didn't understand why Violet's heart was so twisted. "I admit, it was our fault for not protecting you back then, for letting you get kidnapped. We didn't take good care of you. But you and Charles were at most childhood friends back then. You were just in middle school, and Charles never promised anything."

She added, "He searched for you for seven years, which is enough to repay the Moore family and you! He likes Hannah not because she looks like you, but because he is attracted to her personality. From the beginning, he knew very clearly that Hannah is Hannah, and you are you. You are two different individuals, and he never confused you two."

"Since you came back, we've tried our best to make it up to you, and Charles has been very good to you. We never looked down on you! We never despised you for being uneducated. It's you! It's you who refuses to face reality, who stubbornly does wrong, who has made things the way they are now."

"If it weren't for the friendship between our families, why would Charles not hold us accountable after we took you out of the mental hospital? Honestly, we've all done right by you! These seven years, we've repaid what we owed you."

"What will it take for you to see reality? To understand our good intentions? To turn over a new leaf and become the obedient, sensible, and well-behaved daughter you once were? There are so many men in the world, not just Charles. Improve yourself, and I believe you will find someone better, more outstanding, who will be devoted to you."

Hearing Lassie's words, Violet laughed. Her laughter was full of mockery and ridicule. "Better? Then tell me, who is better than Charles?"

Lassie opened her mouth to answer but suddenly fell silent. Who could be better than Charles? Perhaps only Randy could compare to Charles.

Charles was a business prodigy, highly esteemed. Randy was a music prodigy, equally esteemed. They looked exactly alike, and their intelligence and emotional intelligence were evenly matched.

But Randy didn't like Violet either! She couldn't force Randy after forcing Charles!

Seeing Lassie unable to answer, the mockery in Violet's eyes grew even stronger. "What? Can't answer?"

Lassie remained silent.

Violet sneered, "Apart from her appearance, what else is special about Hannah? Her parents are unemployed! I don't understand, what makes her better than me? Why does Charles like her and not me? My family background is better, and I'm prettier. She is inferior to me in every way, yet she can overshadow me in love. Why? Why!"

The last two "whys" were almost shouted by Violet. It seemed she wanted to vent all her dissatisfaction with that last sentence.

"After all I've said, why are you still so stubborn?" Lassie felt a throbbing pain in her temples, and her tone gradually became impatient.

She continued, "Hannah may not be as pretty as you, and her family background may not be as good as yours! But these are things she can't choose! Aside from these, she is excellent in every other way."

"She knew her father was ill, so she worked part-time while studying from a young age to support her parents and her brother. She got into college through her own efforts. Her parents never gave her any love, but she never complained. Instead, she repaid their unkindness with kindness, providing them with the best living conditions."

"And you? You had a tough seven years, but Hannah didn't have it much better! Yet your personalities are worlds apart. You always blame others—us, Charles, everyone around you. You never look for the cause within yourself.

"Hannah never blames anyone, never imposes her dissatisfaction on others. She is optimistic, positive, and faces difficulties head-on. It's normal for Charles to like her and for her to like him! As a woman, even I can't help but like her. And you..."

Lassie fell silent under Violet's vicious glare, her sentence left incomplete. She looked at Violet in disbelief, unable to comprehend how such a look could appear on her daughter's face.

Violet's eyes were sinister, bloodshot, with a murderous glint. Her beautiful face was twisted with anger and jealousy, making her look as if she wanted to kill Lassie. A chill rose in Lassie's heart.
