Chapter 30 Finding The Mastermind
Patricia opened the door and when she saw the situation inside, she was stunned for a moment, then burst into laughter.
Jade was hiding under the dining table, covered in paintball marks, with almost no intact spot left, and her appearance was disheveled. Her eyes, which used to shine with spirit and radiance, were now dull and filled with despair.
It was the first time Patricia had seen Jade like this, and she didn't want to laugh, but she couldn't help it. She bent over, laughing so hard that her stomach hurt.
Jade, who had almost gone crazy from being tormented by the two little ones, ran over to her as if she saw a savior and hugged her arm, sobbing loudly.
"Wuwu, you finally came back. If you didn't come back, I wouldn't have seen you."
Patricia teased, "Didn't you say you missed them? This is great. Let them play with you for a while longer."
Jade, with tears streaming, said, "How would I have known that they have so much energy? It's been only a year, but they've changed completely.”
“They've been non-stop since this morning. I've never hide under a table my whole life, and now it's all torn because of them."
Patricia lightly tapped her forehead, "If you indulge them, of course, they will become more unruly. You have to learn to say no to them."
Pouting, Jade said, "I can't bear to!"
Patricia rolled her eyes at her, "And what about them?"
With no strength, Jade replied, "They should be in the room."
Patricia put down her bag, and found Charles and Fannie playing on the computer, in the bedroom. As soon as they saw her return, the two little ones rushed over.
“Mommy, you're finally back, we missed you so much.” Patricia glanced at the computer and understood what was going on, so she gave Charles a knock on the head.
“You little troublemaker, if you ever dare to play tricks on Jade again, I won't be so polite.”
Charles pretended to be innocent and said, “Mommy, what are you talking about? We were just playing games with Jade, not playing tricks on her.”
“If you make Jade hide while you play games here, what else would you call it if not playing tricks on her? Don't think I don't know what mischievous ideas you have in your mind.”
This son had all sorts of funny ideas. There was no doubt, he had deliberately made Jade hide, under the pretext of playing with toy guns, while they secretly played on the computer, and Jade just kept hiding and didn't dare to move.
This little rascal played tricks on Jade too. Having his thoughts exposed, Charles playfully stuck out his tongue and murmured softly, “ I was just playing around!”
"Hmm?" After she gave him a brief word, full of warning, Charles immediately lowered his head, not daring to say a word.
Fannie shook Patricia's arm and looked up at her with her little head, asking, “Mommy, how is Randy? Now that you're back, what about him? Will he miss you?”
Patricia touched her little head and said, “Don't worry, he has your daddy with him, everything will be fine! Mommy promised to take you to the amusement park tomorrow, right? So go to sleep early tonight and we can leave early tomorrow, you can only play a little longer.”
Fannie's eyes sparkled with anticipation as she asked, “Can we bring Randy too? I really want to meet him.'
Without thinking, Patricia immediately refused, “No! He looks exactly like Charles, they can't meet each other, otherwise your daddy will take you away from me.”
"Okay!" Fannie lowered her head disappointedly.
Charles, with a cunning look in his eyes, rolled his eyes and said, “As long as I cover my face, it should be fine, right?”
Patricia looked at him in surprise and asked, “How do you plan to cover your face?”
Charles took out a cap and a mask from the wardrobe and proudly lifted them up. “'If I wear these he won’t recognize me.”
Patricia hesitated, it seemed like a good idea. But she was still a bit afraid. Fannie shook her arm playfully and said, “Mommy, I think Charles' idea is great! Please agree to it! We really miss him and want to see him. I don't look like them, so he definitely won't recognize me.”
Patricia was well aware of their longing for Randy, which was no less than her own. After struggling, for a while, she finally nodded and agreed.
“I can bring him over tomorrow, but Charles' mask must not be taken off. If it's really uncomfortable, you can go to the bathroom to catch your breath.”
Seeing that she finally agreed, the two little ones were too preoccupied with their joy to think about anything else, and they readily agreed to her request.
“In that case, I have to return to Randy tonight. Tomorrow morning, I will take Randy to the hospital for his IV drip first, then bring him straight to the amusement park. You guys go with Jade, and remember, no more playing tricks on her, got it?"
"Yes, understood!"
"Received." The two little ones readily agreed.
After discussing the plans for tomorrow's outing, Patricia got down to business and recounted the whole incident of Randy's asthma attack to Charles. Both kids were fuming with anger after listening.
Especially Charles, his eyes turned red, looking like he wanted to kill someone. "To dare put honey in Randy's soup, they must be really impatient to live! Mommy, don't worry, I will find out who did this."
Patricia said sternly, "I suspect that Randy's asthma is not a simple matter. It's possible that they have intentionally put allergens in his food multiple times, and this time I just happened to catch it."
While it is true that untreated fever, cold, and cough can lead to asthma, given Martin's status and position, the doctors treating Randy must be top-notch. The probability of such an incident is very low. Unless it was intentional.
Charles asked, "Mommy, what do you want me to do?"
Patricia replied, "First, retrieve the kitchen surveillance footage for me. I need to identify the person responsible."
Charles made a ‘OK!’ gesture and sat in front of the computer, skillfully operating it. To avoid disturbing him, Fannie was taken out of the room. Charles was very efficient, and in no time, he completed the task and presented it to Patricia, as if presenting a priceless treasure.
In the surveillance video, after she left the kitchen, a figure sneaked in, looked up at the camera to make sure the lights were off, and then poured a small bottle of transparent liquid into the soup before leaving unnoticed.
At the moment when she looked up at the camera, Patricia clearly saw her face, eyes widened in astonishment, full of disbelief. It was actually her!
Charles informed her, "Mommy, I copied the video for you. This is evidence of her crime."
Patricia nodded, "Good! Well done, sweetheart."
Charles, took out a USB flash drive and inserted it into the USB port, then clipped and transferred this part of the video onto the flash drive. Instead of immediately informing Martin about this, Patricia placed the flash drive in her bag.
Now that she knew who had added the honey, she would use this person to find the mastermind behind it.
