Chapter 700 Was Not Aware of Danger Behind
The cold moonlight shone through the glass window.
Two burly male henchmen, Alexander Smith and Benjamin Hayes, stood at the door like sculptures, looking at Patricia expressionlessly.
Patricia was very afraid, trembling as her legs subconsciously moved back.
"Who are you? How did you break in?"
Alexander and Benjamin were very strong, dressed in black sportswear, with rough features that looked intimidating.
"Mr. Hill sent us. Please, Mrs. Langley, come with us. We don't like to lay hands on women. We hope you don't force us."
"Joe?" Patricia was extremely afraid.
She pondered, 'Didn't they say Joe's people had already left Country Y? How come they are still here? Not only do they stay in Country Y, but they also find my residence. I had been locked up at home all this time. How did they find me?'
Alexander and Benjamin stepped forward, approaching Patricia. "Please, come with us!"
Patricia knew that if she went with Alexander and Benjamin this time, she would definitely die.
Patricia didn't want to die. She hadn't lived with Martin for a long time, nor had she reunited with her children.
"No, I'm not going. I didn't kill Billy. I don't want to go with you. I don't want to see Joe." Patricia exclaimed.
Seeing Patricia's refusal, Alexander and Benjamin no longer show her any kindness, so they move to grab Patricia directly. "Then don't blame us for laying hands on you."
Seeing Alexander and Benjamin about to act, Patricia panicked. She aimed the anti-wolf electric baton in her hand directly at Alexander's waist and zapped it.
Alexander was unprepared. His body convulsed violently a few times and then fell straight to the ground.
Benjamin didn't expect Patricia to do this. He was slightly stunned.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Patricia ran for it.
It was nighttime, and few people were using the elevator, which remained on this floor because of Alexander and Benjamin.
Patricia immediately pressed the elevator door open, got in, and kept pressing the closed door button.
At the last moment before Benjamin caught up, she closed the elevator door.
Benjamin was left outside as the elevator smoothly descended.
Temporarily out of danger, Patricia leaned against the elevator wall, panting heavily.
One minute later, the elevator stopped on the first floor.
Knowing they were right behind her, Patricia dared not delay for a moment. She immediately ran out of the elevator, ready to go outside and seek help from the property management.
But when Patricia ran to the property room, she was so scared that she almost fainted.
The two property staff on duty were lying on the ground, and all the surveillance in the property room had been destroyed.
Alexander and Benjamin were well prepared.
Now, it seemed that Sebastian's surveillance installed in Patricia's living room must have been destroyed as well.
Feeling desperate, Patricia turned around to run, only to be blocked by Benjamin at the door.
Benjamin sneered. "I told you, you can't run away! If you don't want to end up like them, obediently come with me. I won't harm you until you see Mr. Hill."
Patricia knew that going back meant death.
Even if Benjamin didn't harm her now, Joe would definitely not spare her.
She tought, 'Why am I so unlucky? I hadn't done anything, yet Joe was fixated on me, stubbornly believing that I had killed Billy. With all this time spent dealing with me, couldn't he use it to catch the real culprit?'
The more she thought about it, the more wronged she felt, her eyes unknowingly turning red.
"I won't go with you. I absolutely won't go with you." As Patricia spoke, she kept backing away.
Benjamin mocked. "You have no choice!"
Patricia held the anti-wolf electric baton in front of her, pretending to be calm. "Don't come any closer; otherwise, I won't be polite to you. If you don't want to end up like your companion, you better leave quickly."
Patricia kept telling herself to stay calm.
But when it came to speaking, she trembled so much that she had no intimidation at all.
Benjamin utterly disregarded Patricia, advancing towards her step by step. "My companion was caught off guard just now. Do you think you can still use this thing against me now?"
His face showed undisguised contempt for Patricia.
Patricia knew what Benjamin said was true.
But at this moment, the only thing that could save her life was this anti-wolf electric baton.
Benjamin no longer wasted time with Patricia. He rushed towards her, reaching out to control her. Patricia, with a sudden burst of strength, grabbed a nearby chair and fiercely smashed it towards him.
Benjamin instinctively reached out to block.
The chair smashed hard on Benjamin's arm, causing him to gasp in pain.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Patricia ran past Benjamin and straight to the door, disappearing in no time.
Head down, she ran desperately.
Patricia thought about hailing a taxi on the way.
But for some reason, she didn't see a single taxi tonight.
Patricia could only continue running aimlessly in slippers, trying to avoid being chased. Whenever she reached an intersection, she turned, and whenever she saw an alley, she crossed it.
Not to mention Benjamin, even Patricia herself didn't know where she was running to until she was sweating profusely and out of breath and finally stopped, leaning against a utility pole, bent over, gasping for air.
As she gasped, she looked back.
No one was behind her.
The street was empty, with no pedestrians, only occasional cars passing by.
Patricia leaned against the utility pole, wiping the sweat off her forehead.
Finally, she had escaped from Benjamin.
No, it was not safe to hide here now.
Since Joe knew that Patricia was hiding in Country Y, and Martin's false signal didn't fool Joe, he would definitely continue to send people to find Patricia. Whether she lived with the Koch family or outside, she would eventually be found.
Patricia had to leave here quickly.
She couldn't involve her grandfather and brothers.
But how could Patricia leave now?
She had rushed out too hastily earlier and didn't bring her phone.
She definitely couldn't go back to the Koch family now.
Since Joe knew that Patricia was hiding in Country Y, the Koch family must have been under surveillance. If Patricia went back, it would be like surrendering herself.
Patricia had to contact Sebastian or Riley to have them send her away.
Just as Patricia was thinking, a dark shadow suddenly loomed over her, enveloping her completely.
Thinking it was Benjamin, Patricia was so frightened that she slowly and stiffly raised her head.
The dim streetlight illuminated the man's face.
His visage was illuminated by the streetlight.
When Patricia saw the man's appearance clearly, she was almost scared out of her wits, her body trembling violently with fear.
"You..."
Patricia wanted to speak, but her teeth were chattering, her tongue couldn't straighten out, and she stuttered for a long time without being able to say a complete sentence.
The man evilly curled his lips.
He was Smiling.
But the smile didn't reach his eyes. It was terrifying.
"Are you wondering why I'm not dead?"
The man spoke, his voice sounding like it came from hell. It was very eerie, sending shivers down Patricia's spine.
Patricia wanted to nod, but her body went weak. She couldn't muster any strength.
"Patricia, I told you, you can't escape me."
The man's sharp, eerie laughter echoed in the empty darkness of the night, unsettling Patricia.
Patricia was extremely afraid, her mind tense.
