Chapter 1208 What Goes Around Comes Around

Charles cleared the room, making sure everyone left except for himself, just in case Tina decided to back out at the last minute.

Reviving Hannah this time was way more complicated than when they had saved Carter.

Tina drew the curtains and turned off the lights, plunging the room into a serene darkness.

To avoid disturbing her, Charles sat quietly on the couch, staring intently. His palms were sweating from the tension, but he didn't notice, his hands clasped tightly together.

Time ticked by slowly.

Though only a few minutes had passed, it felt like an eternity.

Suddenly, a sharp sound broke the silence.

It was the sound of fingers snapping.

Tina stood up from her chair, wiping the sweat from her forehead. She was visibly exhausted, her body swaying slightly as she nearly lost her balance, but she managed to steady herself by gripping the back of the chair.

"You can open the curtains now!" Tina said.

Charles immediately pulled the curtains open.

Tina's lips were pale, her face drained of color, and her eyelids heavy with fatigue.

"I've broken the hypnosis on her! The first hypnosis wasn't done by me, so it took a lot of effort to undo it. But it's done now! Let her sleep, and when she wakes up, she'll remember everything!"

Hannah lay quietly on the bed.

Charles gently stroked her cheek, his heart aching. "Will this affect her health?"

If it would harm Hannah, he would rather the hypnosis remain.

Tina shook her head. "No, it won't. I wouldn't have done it if I weren't sure."

Hearing this, Charles finally felt a bit more at ease.

He opened the door and let Lassie in, then asked the cook, Evangeline, to prepare some nutritious food for Tina to regain her strength.

Tina wobbled over to the couch and sat down, still uneasy. "I've broken her hypnosis. You won't go back on your word, will you?"

After all, they had leverage over each other before.

Charles, for Violet's sake, wouldn't dare go back on his word.

But now things were different.

With Violet's hypnosis broken, if Charles reneged, she would have no leverage over him.

"Don't worry, I always keep my word. Besides, Austin is my cousin. I may seek revenge, but I don't harm my own family."

With Charles' assurance, Tina finally relaxed.

After eating the food Evangeline brought, she felt her strength returning.

Lassie, worried that Hannah hadn't woken up yet, asked, "Why isn't Violet waking up? Is something wrong?"

Tina patiently explained, "It's normal. The memories belonging to Violet are very old. Her body needs time to process them, which makes her very tired. Her sleep is a defense mechanism. Once her body fully accepts Violet's memories, she'll wake up."

Lassie anxiously asked, "How long will that take?"

Tina estimated, "At most three days, at least by tomorrow."

Lassie's eyes widened. "Three days? Without food or water? That's not possible! She's pregnant! Her body can't handle that!"

Tina smiled. "It's okay. If she doesn't wake up by tomorrow, we can give her nutrient fluids. Her sleep is actually helping her regain strength, so it's beneficial."

Lassie didn't trust her and looked at Charles.

Charles nodded, reassuring her. "I believe her. She's not inherently bad, just fell for the wrong person. Now that she's seen the error of her ways, we should give her a chance to make amends."

Hearing this, Lassie pouted. "Alright, if you say so, I'll trust her this time."

Tina looked at Lassie, her lips moving as if she wanted to say something but hesitated.

Noticing this, Lassie asked, "What do you want to say? Just spit it out."

Tina swallowed and pleaded, "I want you to see Austin."

Lassie was taken aback. "See Austin?"

Tina explained everything that had happened in the wine cellar.

By the end, Lassie was in tears, but she bit her lip to avoid making noise and disturbing Hannah.

"Charlotte has caused so much harm, to herself and to my son!"

"Charles, you stay here and take care of Violet. I'm going to see Austin."

With that, she turned and left.

Tina stood up and followed her out.

In the wine cellar, Carter had managed to calm Austin down.

Harper shrank back, trying to make herself as inconspicuous as possible.

The moment Lassie entered, Harper's eyes lit up as if she had seen her savior. She scrambled over and clung to Lassie's legs. "Lassie, please save me. Carter loves you and listens to you. If you ask him, he'll let me go! I know I was wrong. I won't do it again. Please, let me go!"

Lassie looked at her impassively. "Let you go? So you can hurt my daughter again?"

Harper shook her head frantically. "No, I won't. Please give me another chance."

Lassie smirked, bending down and gripping Harper's chin, looking coldly into her eyes. "Harper, ever since you were brought back to the Bennett family, you've targeted me, bullied me, and tried to drive a wedge between me and my parents. But none of that matters. I don't care. You are the true Bennett family heiress. I lived a life of luxury in your place for so long. I owe you that. Consider it repaid. But you should never have touched my daughter. She is my everything. Since you did, don't expect me to let you go."

Harper's eyes turned venomous. She got up and grabbed Lassie's shoulders, snarling, "You owe me! I am the true Moore family heiress. I should have married Carter! You stole my life and my man! Everything I did was to take back what I lost! You lost your daughter, and it broke you! Did you ever think about how much it hurt me when you took Carter?"

Lassie laughed. But the laughter didn't reach her eyes, sending a chill down Harper's spine. "Harper, if you've forgotten, let me remind you. I was chosen by Carter's grandfather to marry him. You were never in his plans."

Harper retorted, "Why did he choose you? If you weren't the Bennett family heiress, would you have been chosen? He wanted a well-educated, virtuous woman. And all that was given to you by the Bennett family. Without us, he wouldn't have looked at you twice."

Lassie had heard this countless times. It was why Harper always felt Lassie had stolen Carter and her happiness.
