Chapter 9 Darling, I'm Your Mommy

Randy's tantrums were causing a big disturbance, giving both the patients and doctors headaches. Patricia was a short distance away from the ward, but she could hear Randy's shouts clearly. “

Get out, all of you! I want to find my mommy! You're all liars, you're all bad people, I don't want to see any of you!"

Martin had been trying to calm him down for a while and was on the verge of exhaustion. He growled lowly, "Go and get Patricia."

Alan received the order and as soon as he walked out of the ward, he saw Patricia rushing towards him. He breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Madam, please come and see. Randy is making a fuss, insisting on seeing you."

Patricia didn't pay attention to his address, she quickened her pace and rushed into the ward.
It was in complete chaos, the newly inserted IV had been pulled out, blood was flowing out, and the floor and bed were a mess.

The medicine that had been painstakingly brought, by Patricia, was spilled all over the floor.
When Randy saw her, his action of smashing the water cup paused for a moment, and then he changed direction, heading straight towards her.

Patricia didn't dodge or avoid, her eyes fixed on Randy, as she approached step by step.
The water cup grazed past her leg and fell to the ground, shattering into pieces.

"You're not my mommy, what are you doing here? Go away, I don't want to see you. I only want my mommy! I don't want someone who looks exactly like her."

For the past two years, he had searched everywhere for his mother, only to be disappointed each time. He had thought, that reuniting with his mother was impossible and had been prepared to give up.

But when he saw Patricia yesterday, he felt a glimmer of hope. His once-despairing heart came alive again, even stronger than before. He longed to see his mommy, more than anything in the world.

Thinking about how Randy had searched for her countless times, without her knowledge, only to be disappointed each time, he endured a pain no child his age should bear. Patricia couldn't help but shed tears.

When Randy once again picked up something to throw, she finally choked out, "Randy, I am your mommy, Patricia. Be good, listen to me, and give me what's in your hand. Mommy doesn't want to see you like this."

Upon hearing the words 'mommy,' Randy visibly froze, his fierce little face flashing with various emotions. Confusion, helplessness, surprise, and ultimately anger. He didn't hesitate to throw the object in his hand at Patricia, shattering it near her feet.

The shards grazed Patricia's lower leg and ankle, causing blood to immediately seep from the wounds. She felt no pain at all, her attention solely on Randy.

Randy raised a vase threateningly, saying, "You liar! You're trying to deceive me again! I won't fall for it. Get out, or I'll smash you."

Patricia took out the identification card she had prepared in advance from her pocket and handed it to him. "Look, this is my ID card. The name on it is Patricia, not Natalie. Didn't your great-grandpa tell you your mommy's name?"

Randy instinctively looked at the name on the ID card. His great-grandpa had told him his mother’s name, he knew she was called Patricia. And the first name he learned how to write was Patricia, not Randy, nor Martin.

He couldn't be mistaken by the name on the card. This was Patricia. The name of his biological mother.

Randy's expression softened noticeably. "Since you're my mommy, why didn’t you say that to me? Why are you trying to deceive me?"

Martin's pupils constricted intensely as he stared dangerously at Patricia, like a lurking beast ready to tear her apart if she dared to reveal the truth.

Patricia squatted down to meet Randy's eyes, looking at him tenderly. "Mommy just wanted to play a little joke on you. Didn't I already admit you were my son in the parking lot yesterday? I didn't know you would react like this. I'm sorry, mommy was wrong. Can you forgive me?"

Her words, showing vulnerability, caused Randy to let go of all his defenses. "Are you really my mommy?"

Patricia nodded with red eyes, "I am really your mommy. Mommy is back. I've missed you so much all these years, my baby. I'm sorry."

When Patricia had said the word ‘sorry’ it pierced Randy's fragile heart deeply. Tears gradually welled up in his eyes.

Sensing the opportune moment, Patricia slowly reached out and took the vase he was holding up high, gently placing it on the ground. After ensuring that the vase was completely out of danger, she extended her arms to Randy.

"Randy, come here, give mommy a hug."

Seeing his mother, whom he had yearned for day and night since he could remember, Randy couldn't hold back any longer and threw himself into her arms, crying loudly, releasing years of longing all at once.

"Mommy, I missed you so much. You're finally back."

Unable to hold back, Patricia cried along with him. The mother and son held each other tightly, afraid of losing each other again.

The scene made Alan, who was standing nearby, also tear up. He sniffed with all his might and accidentally caught sight of Martin next to him, whose eyes were also turning red. He was immediately surprised and widened his eyes.

Seeing his assistant noticing his display of emotions caused Martin to give him a cold look.
Alan immediately averted his gaze, not daring to look further.

As he watched Randy and Patricia reunite, Martin's heart was filled with mixed emotions. He suddenly regretted all the efforts he had made to prevent them from being together. If he had found Patricia earlier, would Randy's condition not have become so severe?

For the first time, he questioned his own choices.

After holding Randy and crying for a while, Patricia feared it would be bad for his health to cry too much. She took a deep breath and lifted him from the ground onto the bed, gently wiping away the tears from his eyes.

"The medicine for the injection is prescribed by mommy. Will you be good and take it for me? Mommy will be with you every day from now on and make you delicious food. Let's both take care of our bodies and be together forever."

Regardless of whether this promise would be fulfilled, the urgent matter was to stabilize Randy's emotions and make him get better quickly. The rest could be discussed later.

As long as Patricia didn't leave, Randy would agree to anything. Like a docile Randy rabbit, he obediently nodded, "Hmm! I will listen to mommy."

Patricia immediately signaled to Martin with her eyes. Understanding her intention, Martin quietly whispered to Alan. Soon, a nurse arrived with a new IV needle.

"I'll do it." Patricia took the needle from the nurse's hand and smiled warmly at Randy. "I will insert the IV needle for you. Mommy isn't good at it, so it might be a bit painful. Be a good boy and don't move."

Randy, feeling blissful at this moment, didn’t care if it was painful, he wouldn’t be able to feel it, and vigorously nodded his little head.

"I'm not afraid of pain. Mommy, I'm willing to be your experimental Randy mouse." Patricia touched his head with satisfaction. Due to needing IV’s for his medication for such a long time, there was nowhere that she could insert the needle on Randy’s hands.

Looking at all the needle marks and bruises scattered across his hands, Patricia's heart ached.
A burst of sourness washed over her. After searching for a while, she finally found a tiny blood vessel hidden deep beneath the skin.

Once she confirmed its position, she tied a tourniquet around it, disinfected it with iodine, and finally she inserted the needle. Every action was performed seamlessly, like a teaching model.

Normally, the little one who would scream in fear at the sight of a needle was unusually quiet today. His watery, big eyes never left Patricia's face throughout the whole procedure, afraid that she would disappear with a blink.

After inserting the needle, all the unused medicine had gone to waste. Patricia had no choice but to go back to her office and prepare a new one. The little one clung tightly to her, afraid that Patricia would not return and insisted on going to the office with her.

Knowing that he lacked a sense of security, Patricia allowed him to do so. When Randy appeared in the office with Patricia, the doctors in the room widened their eyes in disbelief.

Especially Debbie, whose eyes nearly popped out of their sockets, filling with anger, as if she wanted to kill Patricia.
