Chapter 781: Shaking Off Tyler

After dinner, Daisy and Ryan got ready to leave.

It was snowing, the roads were slippery, and they didn't want to drive too late, so they decided to head back early.

But Tyler clung to Maria and wouldn't let go.

He nearly tore her clothes with his grip.

Maria couldn't believe a two-year-old could be so strong.

She rolled her eyes, "Tyler, want to play a game?"

Patricia and Martin exchanged amused glances.

Maria was about to trick Tyler again.

Kids are so easy to fool!

But Tyler wasn't interested. His face fell, "No, I don't like games."

They always tricked him with games to get him to leave.

Maria frowned, "Will you play or not?"

Tyler just looked down, not agreeing or refusing.

Seeing firmness wasn't working, Maria softened her tone.

"If you find me, you can sleep with me tonight."

Tyler's eyes lit up, "Really?"

Maria patted her chest, "Of course. If I lie, I'm a little dog."

Tyler immediately agreed, "Okay! What are we playing?"

"Wait a moment!"

Maria took a silk scarf from Charles's backpack and blindfolded him.

"We're playing hide and seek. If you catch me, you can stay tonight!"

Tyler stood still as Maria blindfolded him.

Daisy and Ryan exchanged confused looks.

Once Tyler was blindfolded, Maria waved her hand in front of him to make sure he couldn't see, then grabbed her backpack and ran upstairs.

Charles and Fannie quietly laughed.

Declan looked at Tyler with sympathy.

Unaware Maria had left, Tyler stood in the living room, waving his hands, "Maria, can we start?"

Ryan felt the urge to beat Tyler.

If he'd known Tyler would be like this, he might have reconsidered having him.

Daisy sighed, "Just carry him away! He's only two. He'll get better when he's older."

Ryan sighed, picked up the clueless Tyler, and headed for the door.

Realizing he'd been tricked, Tyler tore off the blindfold and struggled.

"I want Maria, I want Maria, Daddy, let me go."

Ryan, furious, gave him a firm pat on the bottom.

"Stop embarrassing yourself and come home!"

Tyler struggled and cried.

Ryan, nearly mad with anger, slung him over his shoulder and walked out.

Tyler's cries faded into the night. Only then did Maria come back downstairs.

"Finally, he's gone!"

Declan looked at her, "You went a bit too far."

Charles chimed in, "Yeah, he's just a little over two. You shouldn't trick him like that."

Fannie added, "Did you see how miserably he cried? It was so pitiful."

Maria shrugged, "If you all feel so bad, call him back and you can play with him tonight."

Everyone went silent.

Maria sighed, "It's not that I don't want to play with him. He's just too small, and I'm afraid of hurting him. When he's older, I'll play with him."

Patricia rolled her eyes, "He likes you and doesn't hold it against you. If it were me, I wouldn't talk to you next time."

Maria pouted and headed upstairs.

Charles took Violet's hand, "Come on, let's go upstairs too! I'll take you to the toy room for a bit, then it's time to wash up and go to bed."

"Okay!" Violet smiled and followed Charles.

Patricia watched them go and thought about how much Charles had grown up. He used to take care of Maria and Declan, and now he was looking after Violet. Since Violet came, Charles had done everything for her, even after dinner.

Compared to other kids at his age, Charles was much more mature and responsible.

After playing with Violet for a while, Charles took her to bathe. Because of the gender difference, he called Patricia to help.

After the bath, Violet quickly crawled into Charles's bed. During this time, Carter called several times, but Violet hung up on him without hesitation.

Charles chuckled, shaking his head, and sat by the bed to dry his hair with a towel.

Violet grabbed the towel, "Charles, let me dry your hair. I'm really good at it."

Charles let her mess with his hair. Even when she pulled too hard, he just furrowed his brows slightly without complaining.

Finally, his hair was dry. Charles took the towel back to the bathroom and then tucked Violet into bed.

"It's late, get some rest. We have to go to school tomorrow!"

Violet lay on her pillow, which Charles had specially prepared for her. When she stayed over, he would take it out. Otherwise, he would put it away.

Charles got into bed, and Violet immediately snuggled up to him like an octopus. He could hardly breathe but didn't push her away, just moved her hand a bit so he could breathe.

Violet found a comfortable position in Charles's arms and soon fell asleep. Charles carefully tucked her in and soon fell asleep too.

The next day, Charles woke up, washed up, and helped Violet get ready. After breakfast, he took her to the kindergarten.

Having spent the night with Charles, Violet was in a great mood all day. She smiled and greeted everyone she met.

Austin, who had arrived early and was sitting quietly in the classroom, noticed Violet's big smile and narrowed his eyes slightly.
