Chapter 16 Framed, Patricia Prepares to Strike Back

Upon seeing her, everyone displayed sympathy. "Dr. Brown, is your hand all right?"

Debbie offered a subdued glance, smiling and shaking her head. "I'm fine; it's just a scratch. I was afraid of infection, so I've wrapped it in gauze."

Susie cast a pointed look at Patricia and said, "Be careful in the future. Don't let someone with ulterior motives disrupt your relationship with Mr. Langley."

Debbie smiled faintly and responded gracefully, "No worries. I trust my fiancé."

Susie looked disdainful. "Mr. Langley is a good man, but he's susceptible to seduction by those with ulterior motives! Listen to my advice and be more vigilant, or you might find yourself in tears down the road."

"Thank you, Susie," Debbie said.

Patricia knew that Susie's words were directed at her. She furrowed her brows tightly, approached Debbie, and asked with a stern expression, "Debbie, let's clarify things. Did you intentionally trip yourself and frame me yesterday, or did I push you?"

Debbie's eyes welled up with tears. She lowered her head, her shoulders trembling. "If you believe it was intentional on my part, then it was intentional! This has nothing to do with you; it's all my fault."

Patricia erupted in anger. "When it comes to shamelessness, you're unparalleled. There's no one who can match your audacity."

Her harsh words caused an immediate change in everyone's expressions. Gladys promptly shielded Debbie behind her, indignantly stating, "Dr. Watson, despite your position, you can't treat people this way! Clearly, my mentor is the victim, yet you're deflecting blame and responsibility."

Others came to Debbie's defense. "Dr. Watson, you've gone too far this time, trying to steal Debbie's fiancé and bullying her like this. We can't stand by and watch. Just because Mr. Langley and Randy like you doesn't give you the right to be so arrogant."

Patricia didn't bother responding to them and maintained her gaze on Debbie. "I'll give you one last chance. Are you going to tell the truth or not? If you don't come clean, don't blame me for exposing you later."

Debbie's tears flowed more intensely. "What do you want me to say? Isn't the whole truth in the video?"

With a cold snort, Patricia nodded, wearing a mocking smile. "Very well, then. Don't say I didn't give you a chance."

Having said her piece, Patricia didn't want to waste any more words. She took the medical records and proceeded to do her rounds. As she departed, Debbie lowered her head, a triumphant smirk on her lips.

Having said her piece, Patricia didn't want to waste any more words. She took the medical records and proceeded to do her rounds. As she departed, Debbie lowered her head, a triumphant smirk on her lips.

In the end, she was left with only Randy as a patient. Even the dean called her into his office.

"Dr. Watson, I understand that we outsiders have no right to interfere with your personal life, but I hope you'll exercise more caution in the future. You represent our hospital's reputation, and I don't want your personal life to impact the hospital."

After receiving a scolding from the dean, Patricia's face turned gloomy and unattractive. While playing with Randy, despite her efforts to maintain a smile, Martin could still sense that something was amiss.

"What's the matter? What happened?"

As Patricia thought about how this entire situation had originated because of him, her mood soured further, and her tone unintentionally became harsh. "No matter what happens to me, it's none of your business."

Martin, receiving a reprimand for no apparent reason, locked eyes with Patricia, his gaze chilling and intimidating enough to send shivers down one's spine. "Learn your place."
His words triggered an immediate outburst from Patricia. "You have the time to meddle in my affairs, but you can't even take care of your own fiancée! You never change, always resorting to sly tricks."

Martin seized upon the crucial point in her words. "Is this about Debbie?"

Overhearing their conversation, Randy seemed to have caught on to something and rushed to ask, "Mommy, did you fight with Auntie? Don't be angry; I'll avenge you."

Considering Randy's presence and fearing any negative impact on the child, Patricia couldn't be bothered to argue further with Martin.

She gently touched Randy's little face and said, "I didn't fight with your aunt. Just be a good boy and listen to Mommy. I don't need you to avenge me."

After all, Debbie was ruthless. It wouldn't be good if Randy provoked her, leading to extreme actions.

Randy nodded vigorously. "Okay, I'll listen to Mommy."

His obedient and well-behaved demeanor put Patricia's mind at ease. She felt relieved, and her gloomy mood improved slightly. Martin, being the target of her anger earlier, wore a dark expression on his face, casting a shadow over the entire room.

He pulled out his phone and messaged Alan, "Find out what happened to Patricia and Debbie this morning."

Before long, Alan responded with a web address, and Martin clicked on the link. After reading the webpage's content, a frosty gloom filled his hawk-like eyes. He replied, "Remove the post and suppress any related discussions."

Alan efficiently executed the task, and soon, the post vanished without a trace, leaving no evidence behind. When Debbie discovered the post's disappearance, she immediately suspected Martin's involvement and grew furious.

The post had already achieved its desired effect. Whether it was deleted or not didn't matter to her, but if Martin had done it, the significance would be entirely different.

When Patricia noticed the post's disappearance, she also suspected Martin's involvement. She gave Martin a cold glance and said, "Mind your own business."

Martin burst out laughing while maintaining an aura of coldness. Patricia couldn't be bothered to deal with him, so she spent some time playing with Randy, then left, using the excuse of preparing dinner for him.

This time, Randy was exceptionally well-behaved, neither noisy nor demanding. He accompanied Patricia to the doorstep, smiling and waving at her, reminding her to return soon.

Once Patricia left, Martin went to the balcony and called Debbie. The call connected, and without wasting time, Martin questioned directly, "Did you send out the video?"

Debbie didn't expect Martin to question her about this so directly. She trembled with anger but pretended to appear wronged. "Martin, after all these years together, don't you know the kind of person I am? How can you doubt me?"

Martin furrowed his brows. "It wasn't you, then?"

"It really wasn't me," Debbie said amid sobs. "If you don't believe me, you can send someone to investigate. Patricia is my sister, and I've always felt guilty towards her. How could I do something to hurt her?"

Thinking that he might have accused her wrongly, mixed emotions welled up in Martin's heart as he tightened his lips. "Alright, I was just seeking clarification. Don't worry about it."

"Martin, this whole thing is my fault. I shouldn't have fought with Patricia. Then, no one would have used it against us."

"This has nothing to do with you. Don't overthink it."

"Okay!" Debbie said, then hesitated for a moment before cautiously saying, "Martin, now that Patricia is back and taking care of Randy, when will you and I have some time together? Shall we go out to watch a movie? There's a newly released romance film that's been a hit at the box office."

"I can't," Martin responded without hesitation. "I have some things to sort out, and Patricia will be back shortly. Maybe another time."

Debbie bit her lip unwillingly and pretended to agree.

...

Meanwhile, Patricia made her way to the parking lot, with people around her pointing and whispering.

"Isn't that Dr. Watson, the one who got exposed online yesterday?"

"Yes, that's her. I recognize the hairpin she's wearing."

"She's a doctor, yet she's stealing someone else's fiancé. How shameless."

"Why hasn't the hospital fired her? Why do they still keep her?"

"Mr. Langley wouldn't dare to fire her!"

Ignoring their idle gossip, Patricia drove away. She first went to the market to buy groceries and then picked up Charles and Fannie from school.

After returning home, Patricia didn't immediately start cooking. Instead, she pulled Charles aside and said, "Are you really good at playing computer games?"

With a proud expression, Charles tilted his chin upward and replied, "Of course, Mommy! I'm the most sought-after hacker now. There's nothing I can't do."

Patricia rolled her eyes at him and said, "Alright, I know you're amazing. Can you do me a favor?"

It was rare for his mommy to ask for something, so Charles became excited. "What is it? Just tell me."

Patricia explained the situation to him, and after listening, Charles was so furious that he nearly exploded.

"Don't worry, Mommy, I'll definitely help you! I won't let that evil woman, Debbie, get away with it."

Patricia had a plan in mind, which she shared with Charles.
