Chapter 1114 Finding Evidence
Alan confidently felt the shape, size, and thickness of the hard object, which indeed resembled a phone.
He gave a signal to the bodyguard. The bodyguard immediately handed him a pair of brand-new gloves.
In front of Lassie, Alan put on the gloves, then reached into the bag and took out the phone from the inner pocket of a black coat. It was a black touchscreen phone, and it was turned off.
To be sure, Alan turned on the phone and confirmed through the location app on his own phone that it was indeed the black phone. He then turned it off and placed it in an evidence bag.
Lassie asked, "Is this the phone Austin and Tina used to communicate?"
Alan nodded. "Yes! This has the virus Charles implanted!"
Lassie looked at the phone in the transparent evidence bag, feeling very conflicted. "Are you going back to report now?"
Alan nodded. "Yes! Charles and Mr. Langley are still waiting for me!"
Lassie asked again, "Are Austin and Tina with them?"
Alan nodded again. "Yes!"
Lassie thought for a moment, then resolutely said, "I will go with you!"
Alan hesitated and did not immediately agree. After all, he was just a subordinate and couldn't make the decision.
Fearing he wouldn't agree, Lassie quickly said, "I am Austin's mother. If he doesn't cooperate, it would be better to have me there! Although he has done so many heinous things, he should still be different towards his mother."
Alan thought she made sense, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "I'll give them a call! This matter needs their approval; I can't decide."
Lassie didn't force him and nodded. "Alright, call Charles and ask! If it really doesn't work, then forget it!"
She didn't want to make things difficult for Charles. During this time, the Moore family had done too many things to wrong the Langley family; they owed the Langley family too much, especially Charles.
Fortunately, Charles woke up back then. Otherwise, they wouldn't know how to atone for their sins.
Alan took off his gloves, pulled out his phone from his pocket, and called Charles, explaining that Lassie wanted to come along.
He thought Charles would think for a while, but to his surprise, Charles agreed readily.
"If Lassie wants to come, let her come! Austin has done so many heinous things; she should know! Seeing it with her own eyes will make her completely give up on Austin."
Seeing that Charles agreed, Alan did not stop Lassie anymore. He took Austin's phone and brought Lassie to the suburban warehouse.
Inside the warehouse, Tina was still tied to a chair. During Alan's absence, something had happened, and Austin was being held down in a chair by two bodyguards.
Upon seeing Lassie, he excitedly tried to stand up but was pushed back down by the hands on his shoulders.
He couldn't move, his handsome face flushed with anger, and unlike his usual silent demeanor, he excitedly said to Lassie, "Mom, don't listen to Charles. I didn't do it. I'm your son; you know me best. Do you not believe me and believe him instead?"
Normally, seeing Austin being treated like this, Lassie would have rushed to save him immediately. But at this moment, her eyes were only filled with disappointment and coldness.
"I thought I knew you well! But I realized I was wrong! Although I raised you for twenty years, I only discovered today that I never really knew you." Her words made Austin feel like he was frozen to the core.
He looked at Lassie sadly and said, "Do you not believe me?"
His appearance made Lassie's heart ache. She quickly turned her head away, not looking at him. She was afraid that if she continued to look, she would soften again.
Alan brought the evidence bag to Charles and reported, "Mr. Watson, this was found in Austin's coat pocket! It has been confirmed that it contains the virus you implanted. However, the information inside has been wiped clean."
Charles did not immediately take the phone but instead took the new gloves handed to him by the bodyguard and put them on.
Without saying a word, he first restored all the information on the phone. Austin's phone contained much more information than Tina's.
Charles scrolled for a long time before finding the first piece of information. When he saw the date of the first message, he raised an eyebrow mockingly.
Austin and Tina didn't communicate much. The first message was from last year, shortly after the fake Violet was found.
[Tina, I need your help with something.] The first message was sent by Austin.
Apparently, to contact Tina, Austin had bought a new phone and got an anonymous number, which he used to contact Tina.
The two seemed to have a telepathic connection. Without revealing his name, Tina knew it was Austin and readily agreed. [What do you need?]
Austin: [I want you to open a psychological clinic in Country D! A woman named Violet Moore will come to you for therapy. You take her in.]
[Okay!] Tina agreed without hesitation, not even asking why. And when Austin made the request, it was not a plea but almost a command.
From their conversation, Charles felt they were not friends but had a superior-subordinate relationship. Austin knew Tina would agree, so he dared to be so assertive.
However, with Tina's current achievements, she shouldn't have to obey anyone. Could it be that Austin had something on her? He thought it was strange for a psychologist of Tina's caliber to open a small clinic in Country D.
However, this thought only flashed through Charles's mind, and he didn't dwell on it, thinking everyone has their own life and struggles.
Their initial conversation was just these four sentences, followed by a long period of silence.
From that time until he and Hannah got engaged, Austin and Tina had no contact. It wasn't until the eve of Charles's engagement to Hannah that they contacted each other again.
Again, it was Austin who reached out to Tina. [I need your help with something.]
Tina: [What do you need?]
Austin: [Hannah is getting engaged to Charles. I can't let them get engaged! So, on the day of the engagement, I plan to switch Violet and Hannah. You help me by hypnotizing Hannah and erasing her memory!]
Tina: [And then?]
Austin: [I've arranged a new identity for her, named Evelyn Ross, born in Country H, with deceased parents!]
Austin: [Charles really likes Hannah. He will search the entire country for her. During this time, I'll need you to stay with her! Once things calm down, I'll come to find you both!]
Tina: [Okay! I agree!]
Their conversations were always straight to the point, with no small talk. This fit both of their personalities and ways of doing things.
However, this made Charles even more curious about why Tina listened to Austin so much. Why did Tina always agree so readily whenever Austin asked for help?
