Chapter 1130 Mental Illness

Austin's situation was finally resolved.

Tina was also locked up in jail, and the fake Violet was dead.

Everything seemed to return to peace, except for Hannah, who was still in the ICU, not out of danger yet.

Charles stayed outside the ICU almost day and night.

Carter and Lassie took turns keeping watch.

Stella and Martin Patricia visited every day, but since it was the ICU, they couldn't stay long and would leave after a short while.

Today, Randy accompanied Stella to visit Hannah again.

Looking at the still unconscious Hannah, Stella was filled with anxiety.

"It's been five days already. Didn't the doctor say that after three days of observation, she could be moved to a regular room if she was out of danger? Why is she still in the ICU? What's going on with Hannah? She'll be okay, right, Charles?" She was asking Charles, seeking a reassuring answer from him.

That way, she could feel at ease.

Even though she knew now that Hannah was Violet, she still preferred to call her Hannah.

No matter who Hannah became, in her heart, she was always Hannah.

Charles nodded, as if answering her question and comforting himself at the same time. "Yes, she will be okay. She will definitely wake up."

The two of them stood there, staring through the glass wall at the unconscious Hannah.

Suddenly, Hannah, who had been lying quietly on the bed, started to move her eyelashes frequently. Her hand, which was resting outside, suddenly gripped the sheet tightly. Her head moved restlessly, and her lips opened and closed as if she was trying to say something. Her brows furrowed tightly.

Charles and Stella noticed her reaction almost simultaneously.

Stella was so excited that she started trembling all over. "Charles, is Hannah waking up? She's waking up."

Charles reacted the quickest and immediately shouted, "Nurse, come quickly, Hannah is waking up, she's waking up."

The nurse heard his shout and quickly came over to check. Seeing that Hannah was indeed waking up, she immediately called for the doctor.

In no time, doctors and nurses in sterile gowns entered the room.

Charles and Stella watched nervously as they examined Hannah.

Hannah seemed to be in pain, her hand twisting the sheet, her forehead covered in a fine layer of sweat.

Charles's heart was in a tight knot.

His palms were sweating from the tension.

A layer of mist quickly formed on the transparent glass under his palms.

Waiting was undoubtedly the longest process.

Charles and Stella were extremely tense, watching the doctors examine Hannah.

Time ticked by second by second.

They could almost hear their own hearts pounding in their chests.

It felt like their hearts were about to leap out of their throats.

They didn't know how long it had been, but it felt like an eternity to them.

Finally, the doctors and nurses came out.

The two of them immediately stepped forward, and Charles couldn't wait to ask, "Doctor, how is my fiancée? Is she out of danger? Is she going to wake up soon?"

The doctor frowned and shook his head gravely. "I just did a series of tests on her. Her condition is under control and is slowly improving, but it seems like she can't wake up on her own."

Charles frowned and asked, "What do you mean she can't wake up on her own?"

The doctor paused for a moment, trying to find the right words. After a bit of thought, he said, "Her physical indicators are slowly returning to normal. If there are no issues after two more days of observation, she can be moved to a regular ward. As for whether she can wake up, it depends on her willpower."

Stella's face went pale. "What do you mean by that? Are you saying Hannah could end up in a vegetative state?"

That couldn't happen! Charles almost ended up in a vegetative state, and now Hannah?

Charles' waking up was a medical miracle, but such miracles are rare and can't happen every time.

They had finally overcome so much, and the culprit, Austin, was caught.

They were about to start a happy life, and now this?

The doctor said, "To be precise, she is not in a vegetative state. She just doesn't want to wake up. Think about it, does she have any mental illness?"

Charles and Stella were both stunned.

They looked at each other.

Stella wondered, "Mental illness? What mental illness could Hannah have?"

The Hannah she knew was optimistic, positive, and cheerful. She never knew Hannah had any mental illness.

Charles was also puzzled. "Hannah has a mental illness? We've been together for so long, and I've never noticed any."

The doctor gently suggested, "Think carefully. Maybe if you help her resolve her issues, she will wake up."

With that, he left.

Stella and Charles looked at each other, bewildered.

Stella counted on her fingers, "Hannah's dream was to get into D University's journalism program, and she did it! So it's not that. Hannah loves you, and you love her, and you two are together now! So it's not that either. Hannah has me as a good friend, and she has other friends too! So it's not that. Her dreams, love, and friendships are all perfect! That leaves the family.

She used to have a bad relationship with Quentin and Lisa, but since getting engaged to you, their relationship has improved, and her parents have been treating her better and better.

Even though Quentin and Lisa aren't her biological parents, Hannah doesn't know that! So family isn't the issue either! What mental illness could the doctor be talking about?"

She thought it over, but couldn't figure out what unresolved issue could be keeping Hannah from waking up.

The more she analyzed, the tighter Charles's frown became.

What mental illness could be keeping Hannah from waking up?

Suddenly, Stella seemed to think of something and angrily said, "Charles, do you think it could be Tina's doing again? Carter was in a similar situation before, with normal physical indicators, but unable to wake up. It turned out he was hypnotized by Tina!

Could Hannah be hypnotized too?"

Charles didn't hesitate and firmly denied it. "Definitely not! Tina didn't have the chance."

Randy added, "Right! Since Hannah's car accident, Tina hasn't been to the hospital! Before the accident, Hannah was perfectly fine! No matter how skilled Tina is, she couldn't hypnotize from such a distance."

Stella lowered her head and scratched her hair.

Randy made a good point. No matter how skilled Tina was, she couldn't be that powerful.

"Then what mental illness could it be?" She racked her brain but couldn't come up with an answer.

If they knew, they could address it directly!

But not knowing the problem made it impossible to find a solution!

It was so frustrating.
