Chapter 995 Everyone Sees Violet's True Colors
Seeing Violet still hesitating, Stella's eyes were practically rolling with contempt.
Stella sneered, "What's the matter? Scared? I always knew you were all talk. If you've got the guts, go ahead. There are plenty of people here to clean up your mess. Just a little pressure and your carotid artery will be cut. Blood everywhere, and even if you regret it, it'll be too late. You'll be dead. Honestly, it would be a relief. The Moore family would be rid of a nuisance, and no one would be shamelessly claiming to be Charles' girlfriend anymore. People like you should just die to stop hurting others."
She was pushing Violet, trying to see if she really had the nerve to go through with it.
If Violet did, that would be perfect.
If she didn't, it would prove she was faking it.
Only someone calm and rational wouldn't fall for such a taunt.
Someone truly suffering from neurasthenia couldn't handle that kind of pressure.
Sure enough, despite everything Stella said, even though Violet was shaking with anger, she didn't press the knife any deeper, too scared to hurt herself.
Stella scoffed, "Quit the act and just go to the mental hospital!"
Violet looked at Charles with pleading eyes, "Charles, are you really going to leave me? Have you forgotten we grew up together? How much you used to care for me? You said you'd stay with me through my treatment. Once I got better, we'd get married."
Even now, Violet was trying to use their past to get out of trouble.
Charles' eyes flashed with irritation. "Did you intentionally hurt Shirley's neck?"
He switched topics so fast everyone was caught off guard.
"What?"
Charles said, "I saw you pour a cup of hot water on her neck on purpose."
He hadn't actually seen it; he was just trying to get her to confess.
Hearing Charles' words, Lassie stopped crying and looked at Violet in shock from Carter's arms.
Lassie thought, 'Charles said Violet poured the hot tea on purpose? Why?'
Even Austin's eyes narrowed dangerously.
Austin thought, 'What did Charles just say? Violet intentionally hurt Shirley?'
Violet's face went pale. "No, I didn't."
Charles' handsome face was twisted with anger. "You still won't admit it! I saw it with my own eyes! And the human trafficker in the mall, you set that up too, didn't you?"
Violet shook her head frantically. "No, I really didn't. Believe me. Why would I do that? She's my own sister. How could I do that? I didn't! Charles, even if you want to avenge Hannah, you don't have to blame everything on me."
Charles sneered. "Really?"
Violet was terrified by his smile.
Charles said, "You don't know, do you?"
Violet asked, "Know what?"
Charles sneered, "The human trafficker and her gang have been caught by me."
Upon hearing this, Violet's body visibly wavered, like she might faint any second.
All the traffickers were caught?
Lassie anxiously asked, "Charles, what do you mean by what you just said? Is it true? Why would Violet do such a thing?"
Carter's face was darker than ever.
He didn't stop Lassie.
He had always wanted to find the right time to tell her about this. But he never knew how to start.
Today might be the perfect time.
Violet never thought Charles had seen everything she did.
Her so-called perfect plan was actually pretty sloppy.
Charles' face was like ice.
Charles mocked, "Did you think using just a phone would make you untraceable? You're too dumb. You used your own phone to contact them, and even the bank account for the money transfer was yours. The traffickers have records of every call you made. You contacted them ten times in total."
Violet's eyes went dull, and the last bit of hope she had was instantly crushed.
Violet thought, 'It's completely over. Carter and Lassie know I hurt Shirley; they definitely won't help me anymore.'
Lassie stopped crying completely. She somehow found the strength to rush to Violet and slapped her hard.
Lassie shouted, "Tell me, is what Charles said true? Why did you do it? Why? Shirley is your own sister! When you were kidnapped, we felt guilty for seven years. This still torments me. Having the traffickers take Shirley away is like stabbing me in the heart."
Lassie thought, 'If Violet and Shirley can't be protected, I won't be able to live. Why did Violet do it? Why?'
Charles said calmly, "There's one more thing you don't know."
Lassie's spine chilled. "What else?"
Her gut told her it wouldn't be good.
Sure enough, Charles spoke again, dropping an even bigger bombshell.
"Girls aren't worth much and usually get sold to backward villages. So traffickers generally prefer to kidnap boys. Girls are taken only if there's a good opportunity. They don't go out of their way to kidnap girls. Violet contacted an illegal organ trafficking organization. After kidnapping Shirley, they planned to auction her organs at a high price. Once sold, they would immediately harvest them. Fresh, on-site harvested organs are more valuable. After the deal, she would get $100,000. If Shirley hadn't been smart and hadn't run into Hannah that day, who saved her, she would probably be dead by now."
This news was more shocking than anything before.
The sudden truth plunged the surroundings into dead silence.
No one could believe that Violet, who seemed so weak, could be so vicious, colluding with traffickers to sell her own sister's organs.
Lassie felt the world spinning and almost fainted, but Carter quickly caught her.
Lassie thought, 'No! Violet isn't my daughter. My daughter won't be so cruel. This isn't a person; it's a demon.'
She tightly gripped Carter's arm, still unable to believe it. "Tell me this isn't true! How could Violet do this to her own sister?"
Carter nodded painfully. "Everything Charles said is true! The traffickers were caught by me and him together! He found Violet through the traffickers' phone and bank card right in front of me. Even though I don't want to believe it, it's the truth. I had Shirley stay with Charles because I was afraid she would continue to harm her."
He paused and continued, "I've been wanting to tell you these past few days, but I was afraid you couldn't handle it and couldn't find the right time."
Lassie's heart was completely shattered.
So, it was all true.
Violet had only been back for a few months and had already done so many bad things.
She didn't even spare her own sister.
