Chapter 1049 Soul Swapped
The test results were exactly the same as before.
The doctor said, "No issues at all! No signs of brain hypoxia, no external injuries, and no blood clots."
Hearing this, Charles became anxious. "Then what's wrong with her? Why doesn't she remember us?"
The doctor, startled by Charles' reaction, walked to the bedside and asked Hannah, "When did you lose your memory?"
Hannah looked at the doctor in surprise. "Lose my memory? What is memory?"
She couldn't understand the doctor's words at all, like a child eager to learn.
The doctor didn't expect such a simple question from her and was stunned for a moment, then tried a different approach. "It's like forgetting everything."
Hannah shook her head innocently. "I haven't forgotten anything!"
As she spoke, she started counting on her fingers, "I remember my name is Evelyn Ross, I'm twenty-two years old, my parents are deceased, and my only good friend is Tina. I remember everything."
The doctor frowned. "Is this something you remember yourself, or did someone tell you?"
Hannah answered matter-of-factly, "Of course, I remember it myself."
The doctor was dumbfounded. He just looked at Hannah, as if trying to see something in her eyes, but found her looking back at him with pure innocence, not at all like she was lying.
The doctor fell silent.
After a moment, the doctor turned to Charles and said tactfully, "Are you sure you haven't found the wrong person?"
Charles was silent.
The doctor continued, "I think the possibility of her having amnesia is low! The possibility of you finding the wrong person is higher. If someone has amnesia, they wouldn't be like this."
Charles felt like his head was about to explode. "Then what exactly is her situation?"
The doctor was stumped by his question. "How about this? I'll get a neurology specialist to consult, or transfer you to the neurology department! I'm just a general surgeon, neurology is more specialized."
Charles' face darkened. "Why didn't you say so earlier?" They had wasted so much time.
The doctor was silent. How could he have known it would be like this? He had been a doctor for so many years and had never seen anything like this!
The doctor felt very wronged but didn't dare to say a word, and immediately arranged for their transfer.
After arriving at the neurology department, all the professors and specialists came. Not only did they give Hannah a full-body examination, but they also took turns consulting, and the conclusion was exactly the same as the general surgeon's.
No brain hypoxia, no external injuries, no blood clots in the brain! Everything was normal. As for why she didn't remember them at all, they hadn't found the reason yet.
Charles looked at Hannah sitting on the hospital bed, holding the blanket with both hands, looking at him with pure innocence, and his heart ached as if it was about to stop.
Hannah was found. But she had forgotten him. Her eyes were different from before.
Hannah's eyes used to be gentle, intelligent, resilient, and full of deep feelings for him.
But now, Hannah's eyes were like those of an innocent, naive child. There was no gentleness, intelligence, resilience, or feelings for him. Nothing at all. Only full of confusion.
Charles' eyes were wet, and he fought back the urge to cry, sitting by the bed, holding Hannah's hand that was clutching the blanket, and said gently, "Hannah, tell me, what happened to you during this time? Who is Tina, and what is your relationship with her?"
Hannah had no guard against him. "Tina's my best friend! We grew up together, and since my parents passed away, she's been my only family. She takes good care of me!"
Charles asked, "How did your parents die?"
Hannah answered without hesitation, "Car accident!"
But when she mentioned this, there was no sadness in her voice, as if she was talking about something completely unrelated to herself.
Charles asked again, "Is your name really Evelyn Ross? Are you a citizen of Country H?"
Hannah nodded and asked back, "Yes! If I'm not a citizen of Country H, where else would I be from?"
Charles was shocked. How could Hannah be a citizen of Country H? Her accent was so strong.
Charles subtly switched to the official language of Country Z, "Don't you remember me? Charles? Not even a little?"
Hannah answered without any hesitation, directly in the official language of Country Z, "No, I don't know you."
She spoke the official language of Country Z very fluently, without any accent.
Charles was going crazy. No issues could be found. But Hannah indeed didn't remember him, not even anything related to herself. What on earth was going on? Where was the problem?
Seeing him not speaking, Hannah cautiously asked, "Where's Tina? You said if I listened to you, you would let me see her."
Charles said gently, "Are you tired? Do you want to rest for a while? Tina's matter isn't settled yet! Once it's done, I'll take you to see her."
Hannah blinked her big, watery eyes at him. "Really? You're not lying to me?"
The more she acted like this, the more Charles felt heartbroken.
His throat moved, and he couldn't speak. "Of course, why would I lie to you? You've been through so much, you must be tired! Rest for a while!"
They had been at it since early morning. It was already afternoon. Hannah was now a patient and needed more rest.
"Okay!" Hannah nodded, obediently lay down, and Charles gently covered her with the blanket. He habitually prepared to kiss her forehead, but when he saw her frightened eyes, he stopped abruptly. "Sleep now! Call me if you need anything."
"Okay!" Hannah obediently closed her eyes, and soon, the sound of her even breathing could be heard.
Martin, Ryan, and Randy had been silently accompanying them. When Hannah fell asleep, Randy finally spoke, "What's wrong with Hannah? If there's no brain injury, why doesn't she remember us at all?"
Ryan said mysteriously, "I saw a voodoo ritual on TV! Could it be that someone extracted Hannah's soul and injected another soul into her?"
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone's eyes fell on him.
Ryan added, "I...I was just saying!"
Martin said speechlessly, "It's the 21st century, we should believe in science! Ghosts and spirits are just nonsense."
Ryan lowered his head, touched his nose awkwardly, and muttered, "But there has to be a reason! There are many strange things in the world that science can't explain."
Martin, Charles, and Randy all fell silent.
