Chapter 880 Austin Strikes at Charles
Karen's lips twisted into a creepy, evil grin.
"Since he's back," she said, "stick to the plan and take him out. Haven't you been getting ready? Now's your shot."
Austin just stared at Karen, his booze-blurred vision slowly sharpening.
He looked at her twisted face and suddenly burst out laughing, filled with mockery and self-loathing.
Who would've thought? Who would've thought!
In his darkest, most desperate moments, he'd end up here, with the woman who claimed to be his real mom.
He was a mess inside, but he had no one to talk to.
He only felt safe enough to speak in front of Karen.
Even though he didn't see her as his mom, he weirdly felt this place was the safest.
But Karen was like a snake, wrapping around his legs, trying to drag him to hell.
He knew one step forward would be a plunge into the abyss.
Yet he couldn't stop himself.
It was like someone in the abyss was calling to him.
The abyss was full of temptation.
Karen had no clue what he was thinking. She was so pumped at the thought of Charles biting the dust that her hands shook.
"Listen to me," Karen sneered, "I won't hurt you! Kill Charles, kill him. Once he's gone, Violet will be all yours! I'm your mother. I won't harm you."
Austin clutched his head, his fingers tangled in his hair, breaking down, "I can't do it."
That's a human life! A living, breathing human life.
If the truth ever came out and his parents found out he killed Charles, they'd never forgive him.
He cared about them too much to hurt them.
Karen looked at him with cold contempt.
"Useless!" Karen shouted. "You can't even handle this simple task. What future do you have? If I'd known you were this useless, I would've aborted you! This is your life! No wonder Violet doesn't like you. If I were her, I wouldn't like you either. Useless, you're truly useless."
She ranted on, but Austin didn't care.
He only reacted when he heard "Violet."
Seeing his subtle change, Karen smirked and kept pushing, "Tell me, how are you better than Charles? He started his own company at sixteen and got it listed. Now he's a global big shot, way beyond Martin. And you? You're twenty! What do you have? When Charles was twenty, he had his own empire. And you? Still stuck in a lab. Violet didn't like you before, and you made excuses. But you brought her here, gave her a new life, and she still fell for Charles and dumped you. Aren't you useless? As long as Charles is around, you'll always lose to him! Even Ryan's kid is better than you! Among Martin's three brothers' kids, you're the worst. Martin's sons have their own talents. Even Ryan's kid has the Parker Group to inherit! And you? You're not Carter's real son! He'll never give you the company! You have to rely on yourself. If you marry Violet, all of this will be yours! Once you get Carter's inheritance, you..."
Before she could finish, Austin cut her off, "Shut up! I don't care. I don't give a damn about the Moore family's inheritance. It's my dad's; he can do whatever he wants with it. I don't care."
From the start, he never thought about getting anything from the Moore family.
Since finding out he wasn't their biological son, he had tried to be independent.
From the moment he decided to study abroad in Country D, he never thought about going back.
He only ever cared about Violet.
Karen glared at Austin with bloodshot eyes, gritting her teeth, "Then you should take the Moore family's inheritance for yourself! Without it, how can you compete with Charles? How can you beat him?"
Even though Austin was torn up inside, he stayed rational, "No! I can't hurt my dad! I can't hurt them."
He didn't want to hurt anyone in the Moore family.
Karen felt like everything she said was a waste.
Austin was just useless.
Relying on him, she'd never get her revenge.
She leaned weakly against the wall, irritated, "If that's the case, then don't come to me! You won't kill Charles, and you won't take the Moore family's inheritance! You're destined to be like this for the rest of your life! I'll just pretend I never had a son like you."
Austin used the wall to help himself up from the ground.
He staggered out the door, step by step.
Karen watched him leave, fuming.
He was truly a waste.
No matter how much she tried, he wouldn't learn.
If she had known it would be like this, she wouldn't have acknowledged him in the first place, and she wouldn't have ended up being confined.
After leaving the room, Austin didn't leave immediately. Instead, he sat alone on the sofa outside, his mind filled with Karen's words.
"You're truly useless!"
"No wonder Violet left you again and again; you deserve it."
"You'll never be better than Charles."
"This is how you'll be for the rest of your life."
These words were like a curse, tormenting every nerve in his body.
No!
He wasn't useless.
He wouldn't always lose to Charles.
Austin felt a sharp pain in his temples.
He pounded his temples hard, as if only this could alleviate the pain.
After a long time, he finally stopped pounding and slowly lifted his head.
When he looked up again, his eyes were filled with a bloodthirsty red, and his expression was more determined than ever.
Karen was right.
He could have Violet forever only by killing Charles.
Charles deserved to die.
He had to die.
After making up his mind, Austin took out his phone and dialed an unnamed number.
Austin demanded, "Proceed with the original plan!"
"Now?" The other party was obviously stunned.
Austin gritted his teeth, "Yes, now! I want him dead."
When he said "dead," he emphasized the word heavily.
It was as if all his hatred for Charles was vented in that word.
"I understand. I'll act now," the person replied.
After ending the call, Austin gripped his phone tightly, his hand veins bulging from the exertion.
After tomorrow, he would never see Charles again!
Violet would be his alone.
