Chapter 1273 Only Success is Allowed, Failure is Not Permitted
After dinner, Jett had a better understanding of Emeric.
He learned about Emeric's background and his lifelong passion for music. By the time Emeric was in college, he had already composed several pieces, but they remained unknown due to his lack of connections.
Since Jett hadn't personally heard him play, he couldn't gauge his skill and decided not to ask further.
"Hey, whenever you get a chance, I'd love to hear your stuff," Jett said casually.
Emeric's eyes lit up with excitement at Jett's interest. "Absolutely! There'll definitely be a chance!"
When the time came, he would make sure to perform flawlessly.
He wanted Randy to see that he wasn't just hardworking but also talented.
Randy kept glancing at Emeric.
From the moment they entered, Emeric's eyes hadn't lingered on Stella at all. All his attention was focused on impressing Jett.
This made Randy doubt whether Emeric was really Stella's boyfriend. Did he truly like Stella?
Couples shouldn't be like this. A boyfriend should cherish his girlfriend, always have his heart and eyes full of her. No matter how busy, he couldn't be too busy to care for his girlfriend!
Thinking this, Randy's face darkened with displeasure.
Stella noticed his sour expression, knowing he was unhappy but not understanding why. She couldn't help but ask, "Randy, what's wrong?"
Randy glanced at her, suppressing his dissatisfaction, and said nothing.
"Nothing! It's getting late, finish up so we can head back to the hotel."
"Alright." Stella nodded.
She had been intentionally eating slowly. The longer she ate, the longer she could stay with Randy.
The meal dragged on for a full hour.
After dinner, since it was late, they prepared to return to the hotel.
Stella tugged at Randy's sleeve, pleading, "Randy, aren't you staying at the same hotel as me? We just met, I don't want to be apart from you."
Randy's heart clenched, every nerve in his body twisted painfully, tearing at his heart. He wanted to stay with her too, not wanting to part so soon.
So even though he knew she was deliberately dragging out the meal, he didn't call her out on it.
In the past month apart, he had convinced himself to let go, to give up completely.
But now, seeing her again, his heart ached uncontrollably, and the emotions he had buried deep within surged like a flood, unstoppable.
All his efforts were in vain. He knew he had utterly failed.
They had agreed to keep their distance. They had agreed to just be cousins. But in the end, he couldn't do it.
"No way! I'm really busy these days, I don't have time to look after you! Besides, I'm staying at the place provided by the organizers; it's really inconvenient to make unreasonable demands!" He paused, his gaze landing on Emeric. "Besides, didn't you come with your boyfriend? There are still three days until the concert, you two should take the chance to explore!"
Only God knew how much it hurt to say those words.
Pushing the woman he loved towards another man felt like gouging out his own heart, bleeding profusely.
"You're lying!" Stella ruthlessly exposed his lie.
Randy frowned, "Stella."
Stella, with teary eyes and trembling lips, accused, "With your current status, reputation, and fame, if you asked the organizers, how could they not arrange a place for Emeric and me to stay? Even if you asked for the stars, they would find a way to get them for you! Let alone just two rooms! You just don't want to stay at the same hotel as me! That's your excuse. I'm twenty years old, not a three-year-old child. If you want to lie to me, at least come up with a good excuse!"
Her blunt honesty left Randy feeling guilty. "Stella, come on, don't be unreasonable!"
Stella, feeling wronged, replied, "I'm not being unreasonable! This is your problem! We were fine at Hannah's wedding. Why did you suddenly change? Why did you suddenly stop caring about me? You used to cherish me the most!"
She felt deeply hurt.
Unable to control her emotions, her voice grew louder, and tears streamed down her face.
Randy's temples throbbed. He glanced at Jett, Lyra, and Emeric, who were watching the drama unfold.
Jett, realizing the situation, quickly pulled Lyra and Emeric out of the room, thoughtfully closing the door behind them.
Randy took a handkerchief from his pocket and handed it to her.
Stella turned away, giving him her back, ignoring him.
Randy sighed helplessly and stepped in front of her, gently wiping her tears.
This time, Stella didn't resist.
Randy softly said, "You know you're twenty now, why are you still acting like a child, crying at every turn."
Stella sniffled hard, sobbing, "It's all your fault. You can ask my mom and dad, I never liked crying since I was young!"
Crying was for the weak.
She never thought anything was worth crying over.
Except when it came to Randy, she always felt like crying, almost not recognizing herself.
Randy tried to lighten the mood, teasing, "Other girls in relationships want to be with their boyfriends all the time, never wanting to part! But you, you just want to be with me! I don't want to intrude on your relationship. I'm giving you guys some alone time."
Stella grabbed the handkerchief from him and blew her nose, "That's only for people blinded by love. I'm not like that! I just want to be with you. Is that a problem?"
Randy was taken aback.
Stella continued, "I believe Emeric will understand and won't blame me!"
Randy was puzzled.
The strange feeling in his heart grew stronger.
It felt like Stella and Emeric's relationship was more like children playing house than a real romance.
Stella pouted, sat on a bench, and stubbornly said, "I don't care, I want to stay at the same hotel as you, right next door! And I want to go to the concert with you!"
Randy couldn't refuse.
They had agreed to keep their distance.
He had sworn to be heartless, but all that was forgotten now.
"Fine, fine! I'll ask Jett to arrange it!"
When it came to Stella, all his principles, boundaries, and promises became meaningless.
Hearing his agreement, Stella jumped up, hugged Randy's neck, and bounced around happily. "Great! I knew you wouldn't be so cruel to me, you still care about me!"
Randy sighed deeply, "Yes, I care about you! After all, you're my cousin!"
He emphasized the word "cousin" deliberately.
With Jett's arrangements, Stella and Emeric successfully moved to the hotel where Randy was staying.
On the way back to the hotel, Emeric and Lyra shared a car, while Randy, Stella, and Jett rode together.
Emeric sat by the window, half-hidden in the darkness, his expression unreadable, concealing the coldness in his eyes.
Something seemed off between Stella and Randy too.
To him, their relationship didn't seem like ordinary cousins.
There was always a strange, indescribable atmosphere between them.
What was it?
If he could figure out what was going on between them, could he finally get Randy to take him on as a student?
He had come this far and couldn't afford to fail now.
He had to succeed.
Emeric's lips curled into a barely noticeable smirk, like a venomous snake lurking in the grass, sending chills down one's spine.
