Chapter 768 Charles Coaxed the Crying Baby

After Christmas, they started visiting friends. Martin didn't have many, so he took Patricia and the five kids to Ryan and Carter's place, where they got some Christmas gifts to bring home.

Ryan and Daisy's wedding was coming up. Daisy's belly was starting to show, but winter clothes hid it well.

One morning, Patricia left Martin and the kids to help out at Daisy's house.

Seeing Daisy in her wedding dress, Patricia got emotional, "I never thought you'd marry Ryan! You two used to be so unfriendly."

Daisy felt the same, "Honestly, he's not my type! I like mature, stable guys. He's childish and arrogant, always arguing with me!"

Daisy blushed, "But he's good to me! You and he have always been the best to me. He's childish but responsible, and I like that."

Patricia saw Daisy's sincerity, "Ryan is a good man. With him, I know you won't be mistreated."

Daisy smiled shyly, "He won't mistreat me! I believe I'll be the happiest woman in the world!"

Ryan's kindness had won Daisy over, and she trusted her choice.

Patricia hugged Daisy, "I wish you happiness!"

Daisy, trying not to cry and ruin her makeup, said, "Ryan said after our baby is born, we'll pick one of your kids to marry. Our families can choose."

Patricia agreed, "Sure! Son or daughter, whatever your family wants!"

Daisy grinned, "It's a deal! No backing out!"

Patricia confirmed, "It's a deal!"

After their emotional time, it was the ceremony.

Daisy had a tough relationship with her family, and only one aunt showed up. Her parents and siblings were absent. But this didn't dampen her spirits.

The wedding was held in a church.

The wedding went on well with vows, rings, and the kiss. But just as Ryan kissed Daisy, there was a commotion.

Lassie, in the audience, clutched her stomach, slid off her chair, and cried out in pain. She was going into labor.

Lassie cried, "My belly hurts. Carter, I'm in labor."

Chaos erupted. Carter, usually calm, was flustered.

Carter, bewildered, asked, "What? You're in labor? Isn't it still half a month until your due date?"

Lassie, sweating, replied, "It's early."

Carter stood in confusion, "So... What should we do? What should I do?"

Patricia, seeing Carter's confusion, advised, "What are you waiting for? Drive her to the hospital! Her water's about to break."

Carter nodded, picked up Lassie, and left with his relatives.

Once again, there was chaos.

Everyone's attention was attracted by Carter and Lassie, and Ryan and Daisy who were holding the ceremony had become a foil.

Ryan also knew that the situation was urgent, and he took out his mobile phone to call, "You hurry to the hospital, I call a professor of obstetrics and gynecology to get there! I don't know if there is a doctor on duty at this time of day."

Lassie was taken away by Carter.

Relatives of Carter's family also left.

Patricia stood in the church, torn between staying and going with Lassie.

Daisy understood, "Go see her! It's her first time giving birth. She must be scared. You have experience. You can comfort her."

Patricia agreed and left with Lassie. Martin and kids also left. The once lively hall now felt empty.

A good wedding ended in the chaos.

Charles stood outside the delivery room with his parents. Patricia peeked inside and told Martin, "You should take the kids home. This could take a while, and it's too noisy for them here."

Martin agreed.

Meanwhile, Carter paced anxiously outside, unsure of what to do. Hearing to Lassie's heart-wrenching shouts, he trembled with nervousness.

Patricia comforted him, "It's fine. It will finish soon. You can call someone to bring the baby stuff here. We need them after the baby is born."

Carter, realizing the urgency, nervously made the arrangements.

Soon, the supplies arrived. Lassie, who had been active during her pregnancy, had a relatively smooth labor, and after five hours, their lovely daughter was born.

Seeing his baby girl for the first time, Carter was in awe, not wanting to let her go.

Patricia helped dress the baby, change her diaper, and guided Carter through the process. Despite having hired help, Carter enjoyed being hands-on with his daughter.

After the wedding, Daisy and Ryan arrived with necessities and supplements for Lassie and the baby.

Patricia looked at the exhausted Lassie, who had fallen asleep, then turned to Carter, who was completely absorbed in his daughter. She joked, "Have you thought of a name for her?"

Without hesitation, Carter replied, "Violet Moore!"

After spending some time in the hospital room, Patricia went home.

The next day, Patricia and Martin left Maria and Declan at home and took Charles and Fannie to visit Lassie. Randy had a piano lesson and didn't join them.

At the hospital, they heard a baby crying loudly. Patricia and Martin exchanged a glance. Patricia opened the door and asked, "What's wrong? Why is she crying so much?"

Carter, trying to soothe Violet, looked relieved to see Patricia, "I don't know! The nanny and I have tried everything, but she won't stop crying. She's fed, clean, and doesn't have a fever. Should we see a doctor?"

Patricia put her gifts down and took Violet, but the baby kept crying. Patricia checked her temperature, "No fever. Maybe it's colic?"

Carter said, "The nanny tried massaging her belly, but it didn't help. She was fine last night, but today she's been restless and crying."

The joy of being a new father was fading as Violet's cries continued.

Charles, irritated by the noise, noticed some toys on the bedside table. He picked one up and played with Violet, hoping to calm her down. Miraculously, Violet stopped crying and smiled at him.

Everyone was puzzled. Charles shook the toy and said, "See? She's easy to soothe. Why couldn't you calm her down?"

Was she really easy to soothe?

Carter had tried that toy earlier with no luck. Violet had been crying continuously, her face red from tears.

But somehow, just standing there, Charles managed to make her stop crying and even smile.
