Chapter 29 Debbie Gets What She Deserves
Seeing her cry, Randy hugged her leg and started crying too. Martin felt a surge of protectiveness towards Patricia as he observed them both, crying, together.
Gavin was horrified, his palms sweating as he tried to explain, "Martin, there's a misunderstanding in this matter! Patricia and Debbie are both my daughters. I admit that I have been favoring Debbie, but it's because of her poor health and my guilt towards her.”
“I just wanted to compensate her more. Patricia not only fails to understand my good intentions, but also repeatedly hurts Debbie. I'm just so disappointed, which is why I almost lost control and wanted to hit her."
Rather than reflecting on himself, he shifted all the blame onto Patricia. Martin's pupils contracted, his gaze turning cold and intense, as he spoke with a chilling curve, "Why should Patricia repay your debts? What about the things you owe her all these years? How do you plan to repay her?"
With that one statement, Gavin was left speechless. Martin, like an infuriated lion, exuded a cold anger from his icy eyes, "Suspend all of Debbie's responsibilities at the hospital until the Watson family's reputation is sorted out!”
After saying that, he picked up Randy with one arm, and held Patricia's hand without looking back, leaving Gavin with an ashen face. Patricia didn't struggle out of Martin's hold and obediently let him lead her. It was the first time she had someone standing up for her, and it felt really good.
As Martin led Patricia and Randy through the garden towards the parking lot, they ran into Manda and Debbie, who were holding flowers.
Not sensing anything out of the ordinary, Debbie presented the flowers, saying eagerly, "Randy, these are the flowers you asked me to pick. Are they enough? If not, I can pick some more."
Manda chimed in, "Once these flowers are brought back, they must be put in a vase right away, or they will wither."
Just as they finished speaking, both of them noticed Patricia and Martin tightly holding hands.
Debbie's face turned pale, and quivering, she asked, "Martin, what... what are you doing?"
Martin ignored them, and resolutely, led Patricia and Randy away.
Debbie didn't understand what had happened, so she grabbed Gavin, who was following after them, and asked, "Daddy, Martin was fine just a moment ago. Why did he suddenly leave? And... why was he so close to Patricia?"
Gavin clenched his teeth and told her the rough outline of what happened. Hearing that she had been suspended, everything seemed to spin around Debbie, and she almost fainted. She wanted to go after Martin and explain, but she was too late, they had already left.
Debbie couldn't control her tears, and she frantically pounded on Gavin. "Why did this happen? Why? Didn't you promise me that you would send Patricia abroad? Didn't you vow that she would definitely leave Ivara City? Why did things turn out like this?"
Debbie had originally planned for her father to force Patricia to leave. Even if Patricia didn't agree to leave, they could have someone kidnap her, and make sure she never appeared in front of Martin again. But she never expected things to turn out like this.
Gavin felt guilty towards his daughter, but he deeply blamed Patricia for everything, right down to her bone.
"I didn't expect Patricia to bring Martin and Randy as support. If it weren't for them today, things wouldn't have turned out like this. Don't worry, I will find a way to get rid of her. Martin belongs to you, and no one can take him away."
"Now that Martin and that, illegitimate, child are supporting her, how can you get rid of her?"
Gavin spoke deeply, "If we want to get rid of her, there are plenty of ways. Martin and his son can protect her for a while, but can they protect her all the time?"
Hearing this, Debbie stopped crying and wiped away her tears, asking, "Daddy, do you really have a way?"
"Of course! I won’t let you suffer even the slightest injustice." Gavin narrowed his eyes, determination shining within them. A touch of deep and hidden coldness flashed in them.
…
On the way back to the house, Martin was driving while Randy and Patricia sat in the back seat.
Randy climbed onto Patricia's knee and whispered in her ear, "Mommy, don't worry about me. I was just pretending earlier. My stomach doesn't hurt at all. I intentionally let Dad take the blame for you."
Patricia rubbed his little head affectionately and scolded, "You have bruises all over. How could it not hurt? Don't ever do this again! I'm an adult and can protect myself."
Randy hugged her neck and said, "I got angry when I saw them bullying you! You are my mommy, and I won't allow anyone to bully you."
Unable to hold back her tears, Patricia choked, unable to speak. Randy continued, "Mommy, it's not just me who is protecting you, Dad is protecting you too!”
“If he hadn't distracted Auntie and her daughter earlier, we wouldn't have had a chance to go up. Otherwise, you would have been bullied by Grandpa."
Hearing this, Patricia sneered in her heart. What's the use of his protection now? Since he had bound her to the operating table five years ago, disregarding her and the child's life, her hatred for him had been deeply buried in her heart, and she would never forgive him in this lifetime.
She still could do nothing, except to say thank you for his help in this situation, could she? Seeing her silence, thinking she was still afraid, Randy gently patted her back with his small hands and said, "Don't be afraid, Mommy. Dad and I will always protect you."
Feeling comforted, Patricia hugged him tightly, wishing she could squeeze him into her heart.
As they chatted, Randy fell asleep without realizing it.
When they arrived home, Martin carried him back to the room and gently placed him on the bed. Then he found Patricia, who was lost in her thoughts, on the balcony.
Looking at her profile, Martin's thin lips twitched and remained silent for a while before he forced out, "I'm sorry."
Patricia looked at him incredulously, thinking she was hearing things. Seeing her lack of reaction, Martin explained, "Yesterday, I misunderstood you. You were right. Gavin is indeed an extremely hypocritical person, hiding his true intentions. Even I was deceived by him."
"It's good that you understand!" His words did not dispel the gloom in Patricia's heart, and her chest still felt tight.
Seeing that she was still not in a good mood, Martin continued, "I didn't mean to humiliate you last night. Your success and capabilities are evident to everyone. I can afford to bring you back because I recognize your abilities."
With the first apology given, this one came more smoothly. Patricia forced a smile and sarcastically said, "Oh really? Isn't it because you give me money? Without your support, how could I earn any money?"
Martin's expression froze, and he cleared his throat awkwardly, trying to disguise the embarrassment. "Didn't I say before that I didn't- what's the meaning of humiliating me? Why are you holding onto it?"
"What's wrong? Hurt someone and just saying sorry makes it like nothing happened?" Patricia closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and spoke to him.
"I appreciate your help earlier, but this isn't something that can be resolved with a simple apology. The harm you've caused me, you can never repay it, and it can't be solved by just saying sorry."
After finishing, she ignored him and turned to enter the house. Martin was puzzled by the scolding. Didn't he just say a few unpleasant words? How did it become something so serious that it couldn't ever be repaid?
Just as he was feeling frustrated, Patricia returned and said, "I have something to do today, tell Randy when he wakes up. I'll come over tomorrow night. If you miss me, send me a video."
Martin, remembered the WhatsApp conversation last night, and his chest inexplicably tightened. "What are you going to do?"
Patricia answered expressionlessly, "It's none of your business."
Martin's pupils contracted sharply, and the lines on his face tightened, looking unattractive. Patricia couldn't be bothered with him and went back to her room to pack some daily necessities into her bag, picked up her car keys, and left.
She hadn't seen Charles and Fannie for a long time because she had been with Randy. She had to go back tonight, to be with them and have a chat with Charles, about the kitchen surveillance.
Watching her departing figure, Martin's handsome face turned icy.
