Chapter 248 Patricia's Rival Appears
Seeing her talk more and more outrageously, Patricia couldn't listen anymore and got out of bed.
"I made it very clear to Hunter yesterday, from the beginning to the end, I've only seen him as a brother, never had romantic feelings. Hunter and I? No way; Hunter and I, iit's absolutely impossiblenot happening. I made it pretty clear to him yesterday that I only see him as a brother."
Jade followed her:. "You really won't consider it?"
Patricia shook her head, her attitude very firm:. "No. Would you develop ever datea relationship beyond sibling affection with your brother?"
Jade's mind inadvertently conjured up images of holding . hands with her brother, kissing, or even going to bed with him— Blarrgh!
If she held hands with her brother, kissed, or even went to bed with him—
Ugh!
Just the thought made her feel sickwant to puke.
Indeed, she couldn't do it.
Seeing her expression, Patricia asked with a half-smile:, "What How about youit? Can Could you do it?"
Jade was suddenly speechless.
Having been disturbed by her, Patricia also lost her desire to sleep and started to freshen up in the bathroom.
Meanwhile.
, Martin, who was getting the three little ones ready for breakfast, received a call from Alan.
"Boss, ProfessorDr. Watson is trending again. I've sent you the link. Do you want to handle the comments section?"
"OkaySure.!"
After ending the call, Martin opened the trending link Alan sent.
After Sseeing the video of Patricia and Hunter entering a hotel, his handsome face darkened, and a fire seemed to blaze in his chest.
As expected.
It appeared thatHe knew it; Patricia's heart had always been with Hunter.
They had just dissolved their engagement, and now the two of them were back together.
A man and a woman spent two hours alone in a hotel.
Those two hours were enough for anything to happen.
Jealousy turned his eyes red, and his whole body trembled.
Charles noticed his odd expression and asked worriedly:, "Daddy, what's wrong? Are you not feeling well? Should we go to the hospital?"
Martin brushed it off with a shake of his head, his hands uncontrollably scrolling down.
The further he scrolled, the uglier his face became.
Especially when he saw comment #2400: "Ah... I really hope they end up together, to shine for us divorced women, to speak out,. Martin can go to hell." His face turned extremely ugly.
Together.
Together.
His face turned extremely ugly.
'Together.'
Martin's anger reached its peak in an instant.
In a fit of rage, he flung the bowl in front of him to the ground.
The loud "bang" startled the three little ones.
Charles immediately comforted Fannie by patting her back and, with a hint of annoyance, said, "'Daddy, what are you doing? You scared us. Randy has a heart condition; he can't take such shocks."'
Martin realized his overreaction and quickly apologizedsaid, "I'm sorry, Daddy lost control of his emotions for a moment. You weren't frightened, were you?"
The three little ones shook their heads in unison, more concerned about their father than themselves.
"Daddy, we're fine. What about you? What happened?"
A shadow of bitterness crossed Martin's eyes as he shook his head,. "I'm fine, just some business matters."
He sent a message back to Alan, "Delete the inappropriate comments that insult her, leave the rest alone."
Alan quickly responded with an 'ok' gesture.
Ever since Martin had seen the trending topic, he seemed distracted, his mind filled with comments supporting Patricia and Hunter being together.
The little ones, sensing his mood was off, didn't dare to ask more, thinking he was troubled by company matters.
After dropping Charles and Fannie off at kindergarten, Martin prepared to take Randy to the hospital.
Distracted by thoughts of Patricia, he failed to notice the traffic light turn red and his expensive Maybach charged straight onto the pedestrian crossing.
Randy, witnessing the car heading towards a pedestrian, widened his eyes in shock, forgetting to breathe.
"Ah... "Daddy,… bBe careful..."!"
Martin's attention snapped back at his son's voice, and he slammed on the brakes just as the car was about to hit the woman ahead.
The screeching sound was that of the tires skidding across the pavement filled the air.
Martin and Randy, propelled by inertia, were thrown forward but were yanked back by their seat belts, their heads knocking hard against the seat backs.
The woman on the zebra crossing, though not hit, was so startled that her legs gave way and she fell to the ground, her palms pressing against the concrete,; a sharp pain shooting through her.
"Hisss..."
She gasped in pain, looked at her palm, and saw it was all bloodbleeding.
Martin, thinking he had hit someone, immediately got out to check.
"You're bleeding,; let me take you to the hospital."
"It's fine, just a minor issue, it'll heal in a few days..." the woman said, shaking her head whilebefore looking up at Martin.
She saw Martin's tall figure, his handsome face with its sharp angles exuding a stark coldness, his high nose bridge, and deep-set eyes hiding a hawk-like sharpness beneath a seemingly calm gaze.
The morning sun cast a stark shadow across his face, creating a powerful visual impact.
The woman was so mesmerized that the words she had been about to say were swallowed back down.
Seeing her staring silently, Martin frowned with distaste, his tone slightly impatient,
"If you're alright, then I'll be going."
Fearing he would leave, the woman quickly got up from the ground, "I might be hurt, I need to get checked at the hospital to know for sure!"
Martin stepped aside,. "I'll take you for a check-up."
The woman's eyes craftily darted around,. "No, I can't. I have urgent matters to attend to right now, no time for the hospital."
Martin's brows furrowed tighter, he pulled out his wallet, and handed her a thick stack of cash, "Then go see the doctor later, this is for your compensation."
The woman shook her head in refusal, "What if it's not enough?"
Martin glanced at her impatiently and pulled out another stack, "This should be enough."
Still, she shook her head,. "What if it's too much?"
Martin's patience was spent,. "If it's too much, consider it compensation for your distress."
The woman chuckled,. "I don't want compensation for distress. I'm not someone who makes money by faking accidents."
Martin, already in a bad mood, became even more irritated by her antics,. "What exactly do you want?"
The woman stretched out her hand towards him, "Give me your business card. I'll go to the hospital later for a check-up, then I'll contact you for reimbursement. That way, neither of us loses out."
Not wanting to waste any more time with her, Martin took out Alan's business card and handed it to her.
The woman looked at the name on the card with a hint of admiration, "Alan, as in the cliff.. Such a nice name, so domineering, masculine; it suits you well."
Martin gave her a look as if she were a fool and turned to get back into the car without looking back.
The woman called out to his retreating figure, "Hey, I haven't told you my name yet.
I'm Eva Green."
Martin, as if he hadn't heard, stepped on the gas, and the Maybach sped away like an arrow released from its bow.
Eva Green gazed at the business card in her hand, giggling foolishly.
She hadn't expected that this mishap would lead her to meet her destined one.
He might be a bit cold.
But as they say, it's just a layer of yarn between a woman chasing a man.
She believed where there's a will, there's a way.
She would catch him.
Even if it meant persisting doggedly, she was determined to win him over.
